Joyce Kilmer Park is a beautiful little park with a lot of open green space located in the Bronx, New York City directly adjacent to Bronx Civil Court on the Grand Concourse name after Joyce Kilmer (1886-1918), poet, journalist, and soldier owned and operated by NYC Parks. The Lorelei Fountain, also known as the Heinrich Heine Memorial, name after German poet, Heinrich Heine (1797-1856) - another poet. It was befitting for me to visit in the month of April for National Poetry Month as I am also a poet. This white marble monument with reliefs reminisce of my previous visit to Paris, France which has a very European attribute. There are minimal public benches for resting. There is a rock formation embedded in the grass which is possibly man-made. I took a walk exploring the grounds, intaking the fresh air and expelling my stress, anxiety and pain from years of being hurt. Although Joyce Kilmer Park may not be gargantuan in size it does provide a moment of peace in a phlegmatic disposition. I never notice a park adjacent to Bronx Civil Court before and it contains intriguing sculptures and monuments. I have always appreciated parks and landmarks. The open green public space fends an illusion of an oasis in a urban setting.
Nota bene: There are no public restrooms on the premise. Please curb your dog while in this park. read more
