This park has two baseball fields, tennis courts, basketball courts and a kid's playground. One of the swings in the playground actually supported my weight and swung easily. This totally brought back memories of me when I would beg my parents to take me to a playground with a swing because my neighbors were hogging the swing that was in my grandpa's backyard. During winter, you can see kids sledding on the small hill. Between 0430 to 0630pm, you can see people bringing their dogs before sunset. It's really fun to see the dogs hop around the snow like bunnies although it's not so fun when you accidentally step on sniper poop that is hiding in the snow patiently waiting to make a squishy impact with your snowboot. During the summer, parents of furry children hang out and drink beers and enjoy the relaxing weekend. All of the pet owners seem to be responsible and they only bring friendly/socialized dogs. Some even bring enough water to share with the other dogs so that no dog is forced to chug nasty mud water that sometimes hang around in the corners of the park. I just love how everyone is friendly, both canine and human. The only drawback is that the park is not completely fenced in so if you have a psychotic dog like mine, get ready to chase after your furry child so that he/she doesn't get hit by a car. Also, I wish that during the summer, they keep the lights on everyday, even if it's just for a few hours. I noticed that they only keep it on when there's a soccer or baseball match.

It is well kept (maybe besides in icy conditions in the winter), full of great people-watching, and just as beautiful when you walk it for the 300th time as it was the first. It is about a 1.5 mile loop for those interested in tracking their mileage. For those who don't live in the area, it is a short walk from the closest T-stop and it really worth the trip. In the warmer seasons, expect to see some wildlife (lots of birds & turtles). When colder, expect gorgeous icy views. Tip: If you like taking a stroll with a coffee in hand, grab a coffee at Starbucks or Eagles Deli nearby before you loop!

I've been coming here since middle school and it still remains as one of my absolute favorite places. Look at these pictures! It's so well-kept there's never any trash. There is one small stretch of geese droppings but the path is so wide you can easily maneuver your way around them. :) It's located right in between Boston College's campus and Cleveland Circle so there's always some action and people around (but is never too overwhelmingly crowded). A happy medium of crowded and empty for sure. At one point you're overlooking Cassidy Playground that usually has something going on-- be it softball games or grass volleyball games for example. It definitely gives you some entertainment to look at while you walk! The views are everything. It's a 1.55 mile loop and there's benches along the way that people use for all kinds of reasons (to read a book, take a phone call, chat with a friend, stretch, soak up the sun and look out at the water, etc.). I love coming here around sunset and seeing the sky change and light up on the whole reservoir. Magical. Hands down one of my favorite places to be!

What motivated me was the large hunks of New England Puddingstone perfect for beginner to intermediate climbers and solid bouldering. I won't get into specific climbs, but the Boston Rocks book by the MIT Outing Club is a great reference. A practical tip though: many of the rocks are shaded by enormous hemlocks, and are often times a bit slick, so be sure to bring chalk. I'd also get there early, especially on the weekends, cuz it fills up fast and as there are no bolts to anchor from and a limited number of trees up top. You might want to play musical ropes with your climber cohorts. Great option for a quick excursion as it's accessible by the Green line (D) to Chestnut Hill.

There are three little enclosed areas tucked away behind the center--a small sand park, an area with picnic tables, and an area with statues and benches. Then there is a basketball court and some benches near the street. I love the sand park. I don't care how questionable the sand is. It's a place to come with your toddler (if you clean it up first, and clean up your toddler afterwards!) and feel like you are at the beach. Yes, you have to scan it first for broken glass and trash, and I wish it had some fresh sand. Still, it is a peaceful little place and I love it.

There's a short walking path and…read moregazebo area, a grilling area with picnic tables that's covered with a roof that is perfect for cookouts or just hanging out, a softball field, an auto museum, an outdoor ice skating rink, and stunning skyline views of Boston from the top of the hill. The hill is perfect in the warmer months to have a picnic or toss a frisbee or football with some friends. In the winter, it's the best sledding hill. Truly Larzies has it all, and it's amazing year round.

There are always kids playing here: water gun fights, wiffle ball, you name it. There a small water fountain to run through to cool off and a water fountain for drinking out of. If you want to bring food or relax in the shade, there's a picnic table as well as several benches. For a little more exercise (at any age), there's also a playground - a few swings, a slide, etc. - a small basketball court, and a tennis court.

I live mere blocks away, but for whatever reason, never park-ed it up until today. I decided it was way too early in my recovery process to start complaining and feeling sorry for myself, so I grabbed the blanket I stole from the hospital, a good book, and headed out. The sun was shining, birds were chirping, two men were playing tennis, and several small children were running around the playground. I claimed a spot of land as my own, and read until a man driving the biggest lawnmower I've ever seen came to mow the grass. I wasn't in the mood for another hospital visit to treat the injuries I might have sustained had I continued to lie on the grass unnoticed, so I packed up and headed home. After all, my bank account can only handle so many hospital co-payments.

I've seen dragonflies, damselflies, a turtle, a blue…read moreheron (that was cool) and a gorgeous bright orange bird along with the usually squirrels and sparrows. It is a really cool find among the urban setting. Avoid as dusk - lots of mosquitoes. There is a runoff from somewhere that is polluting the pond but hopefully they are on top of that. I would also suggest avoiding in the evening unless you are in a largish group. We ran across a small group of 20 somethings doing drugs. It made me sad (and nervous) but reminded me you can never be too careful.
