This was my first time ever getting anything altered so I…read morepicked this place because it had pretty good reviews and word of mouth for my bridesmaids dress for my sisters wedding. The first time I go there, I ask to have the hem of my dress moved up so it doesn't drag, the slit of my dress lowered so my whole leg isn't out, and the waist brought in because it was too big. I drop it off and take my receipt. I come back a week later, get my dress, pay and try it on and the waist was never brought in. I go back and I give them my receipt and even though I was within the 10 days, they would not adjust for free because it wasn't written down on the receipt originally but they will give me a 50% discount to get the waist brought in. So I figure okay, maybe I should have checked the receipt for my services no biggie that's my bad I'll just pay again. I get remeasured and drop my dress off again for my waistband to be made smaller like I asked originally. They messed up my zipper so bad where my dress looks like absolute crap. The zipper and the fabric are all bunched up and it is difficult to zip and unzip my dress. If you look closely at all the work done on my dress this place is a scam. The 3 inches where the slit of my dress was re-sewn is falling out. They seem like such nice people too. DO NOT go here to get altered!! Please go somewhere else!!!!

They gave me the option to embroider on my own garments with the design I wanted, and ALL at a fair rate compared to any embroidery place in the area. Also incredibly speedy with the whole process. The owner also personally arranged for me to meet her in Columbia, as I am a student at Mizzou, since she often commutes to another job in the area. Even though her store is located in Moberly, I dropped off and picked up the items in Columbia for my convenience. Can really tell this company is built on good morals, definitely recommend! If you are in COLUMBIA or the SURROUNDING AREAS, Honey Stitch is the embroidery place that you need to go to for anything. I know I will!

Because the purchasing store wasn't friendly, I didn't feel comfortable reaching out to them, so I decided to inquire with Top Stitch. Not only were they extremely helpful and friendly, made a suggestion, which luckily seems to have cured the problem. Since then, I have purchased several accessories from them, as well as a B485 last week. Customer service is great! I am so thankful I found them. I will gladly drive 2 hours to do business with them.

But in opening it up again to make a baby…read morequilt, somehow I pushed the wrong button and I locked myself out of stitch choice and adjustments. I'm embarrassed to say I called top stitch 2 days in a row. Each time, my problem was solved by one of the helpful staff. But the THIRD day, Tim himself, diagnosed what I had tried to do for 3 days! Over the phone, he analyzed I'd locked myself out of options. I'm happy to say the quilt is now done in time for tomorrow's shower. Most companies would tell me to bring my machine in for a free, of course! I live 3 hours away from the store, making that scenario impossible. I can NOT thank them enough for their courtesy, time and expertise. If you need repair or a new or used machine, I can't recommend Top Stitch highly enough!

When I got it back I excitedly unfurled it on my bed to reveal a queen size (at best) blanket. It shrunk tremendously, and no longer fit the bed it was purchased to fit 5 years ago. I think I got a $100 refund, but the item which I really liked is no longer usable. On the other hands, perhaps this is a sign it's time to downsize to a queen bed and then it would work just fine. A couple of years later (2024), I bring in 2 long sleeve shirts purchased in Chicago which have never fit very well due to the sleeves being too long. I asked for the sleeves to be shortened by 1", hoping to be able to wear them this spring & early summer. It took over a month for them to hem them, not a big deal, I can wait. Finally, when I am told they are ready they apparently have lost them or misplaced them. They simply cannot find them at all. I was refunded some money to cover the cost, but again, the items are something I actually wanted to enjoy and use, and I cannot find that style as they were purchased 6-7 years ago from a small retail shop. They seem to be able to dry clean and launder basic clothing okay. But any request that is unusual, or perhaps requires specific instructions, I've just had 2 rather large disappointments.
