My sons regular barber is out for a few weeks and I found Jeremy on Booksy. His portfolio was promising and pricing was really great so we scheduled a cut for the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. Because of the Holiday and our scheduled Christmas pics this weeend, I was a very nervous to go somewhere new, but everything turned out perfect. Jeremy was already waiting for us when we arrived. I showed him a picture for reference and off he went! He was super fast, patient and skilled in his work ( my son was dozing off mid cut)! The shop was clean, busy, and overall an enjoyable time. I am not sure why this location shows as closed. It is still open, Jozay's just expanded to an additional location. I have been coming here for years. JJ keeps me looking fresh for work. Was apprehensive as I am an Asian male and it's easy for our hair to get messed up if someone isn't used to cutting Asian hair. Juan hooked me up! We came in and saw Steven for a cut of my 7 year old's hair. The atmosphere is exactly what you want in a barber shop. Very laid back. Seems like the kind of place that no matter who you are, you'd be welcome to come and sit and BS with the guys. All of their stations are decked out with awesome sports and lifestyle memorabilia that shows their different personalities and fandoms, so again, perfect for this space. The shop is clean, has very comfortable seating and even a big TV in the front that the barbers will tune to whatever you want while you're there. They even asked if I wanted them to change the music. Steven gave my son the best haircut of his life. So detail oriented and careful with every line. Truly a masterpiece. I was in Bakersfield for a day about 2 weeks ago, and had just got done with a convention. Was dressed up and needed a cut before I drove back to San Diego. I called Jozay's last minute, they took me in and got me over to Steve's chair. I've had plenty of fades, tapers, beard trims, hot towels shave, etc.. There are amazing barbers out there who I believe are 5 star barbers. However, I'd give Steve 6 stars if I could. Hands down, the BEST barber I've come across. I have a long beard and long hair, and I get skin fades on the sides. This man is an artist. Effortlessly, Steve had me feelin fresh for a week, and my hair grows back fast. Jeramy is my go to barber. I once had an appointment with my old barber Justin at True Standard Barbershop. He completely forgot I had scheduled an appointment and told me he couldn't take care of me that day because he wanted to go home early. He was cutting someone else's hair and just told me he couldn't take care of me. So rude and inconsiderate. The cuts are great here and provided with extreme care, which I liked. However, upon calling; I did not got a clear answer on what the prices would be so it was a guess for me going in there. When walking in, I was confronted with a cloud of pot scents coming from the back of the shop. I guess this is a California barber thing? Anyhow, the barbers are doing a great and detailed job and are always in for a nice conversation. Laid back atmosphere with no rush. Go for the Red-One products, yes they carry the waxes here; and they are way better than the Suavecito. Please keep in mind, that on top of your mysterious cut price; there is an additional $2.00 credit card fee to pay by CC. My regular cut came out to $20.00. So with the tip out of of the door it was $27.00. Not too bad for the cut, but would have been nice if they have everything posted up clearly or answer that over the phone. I was able to book the appointment through booksy.com which is great for an introvert like me who hates making phone calls. I book a 9am with Jose for a cut and beard lineup and shave. Jose is very easy to talk to and very receptive of your request. The cut and line up are exactly what I wanted. Called here on a Sunday morning to see if there was any chance to come in to have my hair done. Apparently they are one of the only shops in town that's open on a Sunday, so yeah, ultimate brownie points there. I was able to get an appointment right when I was available, which made things even better. Now, just to clarify, as a female I've never been to a barbershop, but considering the fact that I have 2 sides of my head shaved, there's little point to going to a regular salon, except to have the longer part of my hair trimmed once every so often. So, I wasn't sure they'd even be able to help in the first place. Boy was I glad I chose this place. The guy that did my hair was amazing! He took his time, and made sure everything was lined up perfectly (not an easy feat with all my hair). My previous stylist was never even able to achieve such a clean style, so I am incredibly happy for this experience. He knows his business and employees well enough to stand by all of them with the same great quality in their work too. I would put 2.5 stars if I can, but I cannot so I'm giving it 3. This shop has provided pretty good haircuts for my child. I take him to the same barber every time, and we've been coming here for nearly 6 months. I've gotten my haircut by him once, and personally didn't like how it came out so I stopped coming here for my haircuts, but continued to take my son to get his here. However, today my son didn't receive a great haircut. It was clearly misunderstanding between my wife and the barber, which wouldn't be a problem if the barber can agree to fix the haircut, but that wasn't an option. Instead the barber referred me to other barbers there to fix the haircut, for an additional haircut price. Why would I want to pay for two haircuts, when the first haircut was not done properly? We asked for a 2 on the sides blended into a fade, but instead only got a 2 on the sides. It honestly doesn't look good at all either. I'm extremely upset, and will not be taking my son here anymore. My rating is based on the fact that I was told to pay for another haircut. Considering we've been a loyal customer to one barber for the last 6 months, I would expect it to not be a problem for the barber to solve it himself. read more

if I could give NO stars I absolutely would. I have been to this shop about 4 times & each time I'm highly disappointed, I'm a single mom so bringing my son with a bunch men is hard and uncomfortable. The barber cancelled my appointment like an hour before my actual appointment and pushed it back. When you initially confirm appointments they ask you to be on time and "considerate" of others time but in reality them switching/pushing my appointment several times is not considerate. The next issue was the barber was even late after switching my appointment. The next thing after that is the unprofessionalism of the way they speak to each other about things that shouldn't be discussed with children in the room. I get it, it's a barber shop but you have paying customers that deal with the lateness, rescheduling & now you're talking about women in a sexual manner?! Very unprofessional. The barber also cut my sons ear, my son was bleeding and he wasn't even gonna mention it until I said something. I thought I could've given this place another chance time after time but I'm very disappointed in the service. I really hope my review helps others in choosing a barber. read more
