After trying to coax our very temperamental sprinkler system into working for nearly 2 months, we…read morefinally relented and called for a repair. An initial call to the company that did the installation over 20 years ago revealed that they no longer serviced sprinkler systems. They did, however, refer us to Jamie Hill of Turf Irrigation, stating that he was who they were referring all of their sprinkler repairs to. What a find! Jamie came out several days after my call to him to determine what was causing the sprinkler to sometimes work and at other times do absolutely nothing. He was very up front in stating that he does charge a $95 flat one-hour minimum fee for work; no trip charge would be assessed and that most jobs can be completed in one hour. He was absolutely right. As stated, this is most likely a 22+ year old Hunter system with the original digital control box. I could no longer set the current date to any year after 2008, so that proved pretty comical every time the power went out and I'd have to guess what year our current calendar corresponded to prior to 2008 (not so easy during leap years!). I had an inkling that the control box was the issue. Jamie confirmed what I thought; a new control box was installed along with a new rain sensor (the old one never really did work and I can often remember the sprinkler going off during a heavy rainstorm). Several malfunctioning sprinkler heads were also replaced (we were informed of the issues and asked if we wanted to have that done while he was here; we agreed). Prices were extremely reasonable and a detailed explanation was given on precisely how to use and set the new control box. Total bill was for the new parts, the $95 one-hour fee and tax on the parts. The entire system was checked and adjusted multiple times prior to Jamie leaving the premises, and he insured we had no questions or concerns before he left, too. I grabbed his card because now I know exactly who I'll call when I need a sprinkler repair in the future. A thorough, honest and competent independent business is one I like to support. No need to call my original installer any more - Jamie's my guy from now on!

He basically gave me an impression that it would require a lot of things to be done including putting an equipment that is expensive and digging up at multiple places etc. He asked for a very high price and I thought that is what it might take. My mistake was to not take a second opinion on it. It turned out to be a simple problem of a wire that was open and all he had to do was connect them. I felt ripped and deceived. When I reasoned with him, he basically started talking about other jobs in the neighborhood that costed him a lot and this was his way of recovering!! What!! Why should I pay for his other 'not so profitable' jobs!! Eventually, I just paid him the amount as I had already agreed with him. I would totally stay away and look for more reasonable technicians.

We planned to shop around but Javier's price seemed fair so we only got a quote from him. It was neat seeing our gutters being made on site. Promised he wouldn't do me wrong as he watched me be disappointed with my exterior paint color choice I was having done when he came by. After a few texts back and forth we scheduled install for June 25th. His guys show up about an hour late, which I didn't mind and they start doing the work. Javier shows up a little while later and says his manufacturer ran out of the regular(silver) leaf guard and he was going to use an upgraded (black) leaf guard on what he was short. He told me it wouldn't be noticeable and you wouldn't be able to tell. We also have a seam in one of the gutters by the back door that isn't sealed properly. Guess what, it sticks out like a sore thumb!! I have reached out to him several times over the past month to see when he could come fix it. I was lucky and talked to him twice and he promised he would come fix it. All texts and voicemails have gone unanswered. Bottom line, we just want it fixed. I don't want to leave negative reviews just to get his attention. It has been 5 weeks since install and I believe we've been patient enough.
