Just want to share how Drew and Kaitlin (sorry if I misspelled her name) really went above and beyond to help us out. We just bought our house in Copperopolis and couldn't get the water heater lit. After I changed out the igniter and checked the propane line coming into the water heater it appeared that it wasn't getting propane. Of course this was in the middle of the night when we arrived so I called the after hours line. They couldn't help diagnose at that time but scheduled a call from Kaitlin first thing the next morning. At 8 AM sharp I received a call from JS West and they tried to walk me through what to do. We determined that it wasn't a propane line issue but possibly another issue that would require a plumber. Drew graciously jumped in and said that he was going to be on other service calls this morning but was possibly going to be near Copperopolis around 11 AM and would give me a call if he can swing by. Since it was determined that it was not a propane line issue we assumed that he wouldn't be stopping by to take a look and started to reach out to Plumbing Companies. What do you know we got a knock at our door at 10:15 AM and it was Drew!! He was able to fix the problem and get the water heater lit!! Thank you Drew for going out of your way to help a customer out when you didn't have to! My Family thanks you for fixing the issue and allowing them to now take a hot shower today! HAHA. Customer service-wise, I respect the commitment already as I know when I call in the morning that on the other end of the line some female probably mid 40's still wearing a Christmas sweater, sipping black coffee with teeth just as yellow as the caution tape they will have in front of their building if they do not resolve this issue of mine saying, *raspy smokers voice* "Yeah, it's full. Driver said it read topped off before he left." while delivering absolutely zero propane but claiming they did is a level of gaslighting (ironically, without gas) that takes real dedication only J.S. West could provide. Wonder if the "J.S." part stands for "Just Scamming" ?! Would I recommend JS West? After 28 years going through three buyouts and terrible customer service by the last buyer of our propane company we knew we needed to look elsewhere but the thought of removing the cover that protected the tanks in deep snow at 7000 feet elevation had us dragging our feet. JS West left a flyer on our cabin door so I called. We have been with them a year now. They understand we need topped off before it snows as tanks are not accessible in the winter, they installed two new tanks, and they are not ripping us off on price. Our last bill from Amerigas they charged us 6.19 a gallon and both tanks were empty. We questioned the charge and they said it was the rate. Other companies were charging half that price! Good bye Amerigas and so far no issues with JS West and they seem fair and have local customer service that understands we need topped off before the snow flies! read more

Last winter we were stuck with no propane. Our supplier then wouldn't even drive out to assess options for heating the house. We called around, and Amy at JS West said she would come out and see what could be done. The answer was nothing, but having someone come out to at least try to find a solution meant a lot to us. Our tank is in a somewhat difficult location. When we finally were able to switch from (not great company) to JS West we were constantly pleasantly surprised. Everyone we have interacted with has been amazing. Russell and Eddie were super professional and kind, and not at all hesitant to answer all our questions. We called on Monday and told them we were low on propane. They said someone would be out this week. We called again on Wednesday to tell them we were at 25%. They said someone would be in our area on Friday. It is now 4:00pm on Friday and when we contacted them they said they would be out on Monday and that 25% was plenty to see us through the weekend. The girl on the phone said she didn't see any record of us ever running out in the past. (Doesn't surprise me that their records are not accurate). Definitely not what we signed up for we switched from Suburban to JS West. Their salesperson was a smooth talker. Time to start looking for another supplier. read more

There was definately a LP odor when main burner flame on. Service technician Russ showed up pronto and worked through a process of elimination to find the problem. I have not been in my home that long, and the former owner left and did not show me how to use the fireplaces. I have never had propane for my heating before or gas fireplaces. I was smelling a faint smell of gas in the bedroom fireplace, even though it was turned off and the pilot light was off. I called JSWest, and Jenna was wonderful. I explained the problem and she got a technician out to me within 30 minutes. Kayla was my service person, and she showed me how to use the fireplaces. She took her time and I wrote down the directions. Then she had me light it. She used her gas tool and spray and found one of the connections was loose and she fixed it. She was great! I have called JSWest before to try to understand my bill, and the person on the phone took their time and explained the way I can compute my propane use myself. I wrote down the formula, and now I can read my meter and be pretty close to knowing what the bill will be. This company is criminal! They rob you! They should be shut down! Our payments were 185 a month then they wanted over 600 dollars a month! And because we couldn't pay it right away they locked our tank knowing we have a 1 year old in the house agreed to give us a week to come up with other 1500 dollars from a 2500 dollar bill then locked the tank the very next day, hasn't even been 1 month and already sent to collections! Kim Marie is a heartless criminal and very very rude!!! She has terrible customer service and all they care about is money! We went with campora and they were extremely nice and brought us a new tank 2 days later! And got a great deal with them! read more

For some reason my propane tank was totally out of propane. At rirst I thought my heating and airconditioner was the problem so, I logged a call with a heating repair technician who arrived at 4pm. He spent less than 3 minutes only to tell me I was out of propane (that service call cost me $140.00). I called Js West propane at 4:30 hoping for a next day delivery. When they found out about my heath issues they went way above and beyond to make shure I had heat that night. (I have incurable cancer and my health is very fragile). The folks at Js West dispatched a driver at 5:30pm after their closing hours. The driver showed up at 6:30 in the dark and rain and refilled my tank. The driver (Nigel) also took the time to fix my pellet stove, my thermostat and gas range. I want to thank the staff at Js West for their amazing response! I will be a forever be life long customer of JS West. These people give term customer satisfaction a whole new meaning. read more

Buyer beware.... They will promise free installation and refund for unused fuel will quickly vanishes like propane into thin air once you leave.... Their billing desk, told my wife and I on two different calls that the propane was low and they would add $200 to (tap it off) before we sold our property, but not to worry that money would come back once the property was sold. Sold the property and received an additional bill (NO MENTION OF ANY FUEL RETURN). Called them the fuel return, now they can't find our tank to see what was left, convenient for THEM.. Of course they attempted to say the tank was empty - unfortunately for them our tank only provided fuel for the heating system which was off! If I could get away from this company I would, the rates are outrageous, way over priced, they charge you extra fees and fines when you are going through financial issue in trying to catch up with the way over priced bills. DO NOT GO WITH THIS COMPANY IF YOU CAN AVOID IT! Update: I paid the $50 Fee that they wanted and they still have not came out and turned the gas back on. They have allegedly "delivered" ~90 + gallons to me twice, but the amount they put in physically couldn't have fit into the tank where my level was upon delivery. Caught them red-handed twice and they blame the gauge for sticking - of course always sticking in their favor. Don't bother complaining, they either won't call you back or they will SWEAR up and down everything is legitimate, you must be mistaken. We are a family run business.....If you have them as a propane vendor, I'd keep an eye on the level at the beginning and end of the deliveries. They can make a fortune slighting each customer 5 to 50 gallons each delivery. read more

I just switched from AmeriGas to JS West and could not be happier. I called Amy Williams and we talked on the phone. I loved her. The next day she came and did a property inspection and was a delight to meet. The following day they delivered my tank. The man who delivered my tank was nice and professional. I have always paid at least $25.00 a week so I wouldn't have to worry about not having enough money to fill the propane tank. Coming up with $345.00 to fill the tank in October can be rough, So paying it forward was always a plus. I would always ask for a refund in October and leave $200.00 on the account. JS West waits untill October to fill our tank when propane is over $2.60 a gallon. I have told them in the past I want my tank filled in June or July when prices are lower. But NOooo they wait until propane prices go up for winter. I have a large credit on my account so I asked them to refund all BUT $200.00 as I have always done in the past years. (I leave two hundred on the account for just in case ...you never know what if your laid off work, or you become disabled, or a family emergency? ) 2 years ago JS West said they wont give me my refund any more, and yet they continued to refund my over payment last year 2018 as well as the year before 2017. This year they said they won't refund my over payment. This may be the last year to celebrate the Holidays with my Mother and I need my over payment refund so we can go. I was told it costs JS West a lot of money to refund my over payment. WHAT??!!! What the crap! How much does it cost to write out a check, Put it in a stamped, addressed, envelope and drop it in the mail? I was told there is more to it then that, there is a lot of man power involved, they have to research the over payment and make sure there is NO MISTAKE, and it has to be approved, ect, ect, ....OKaaaaay.. look at my last billing statement, yep! There is a large credit from over payments.... Now sign the credit refund check and send it to me. These guys are great. I just moved to town and the new house had another propane tank. As that one ran low, their process to set up an account and fill it up was taking weeks. We ran out of propane for 5 days (over new years) before the other company started to process the order. So, I went into JS West. They set me up for the next morning and we had hot water. It moved so fast that the first bill that came to me was at the standard price, not the introductory price. I called the company to ask about it, and a corrected invoice was already in my mail box. I called JS west to check on current rates and to see when rates go up for winter, she didn't know when they go up she just say "soon" I asked what the rate goes up to she "had no idea how much it will be" so I asked if they could come fill up out take soon (usually they come when it's 30% to fill up) she asked what % it was at I said around 65% and I told her can't you guys see what it's at there is a reader on it. She said in the system it said "not readable" so I mentioned so if I haven't called to ask about rates how would you guys see when to full up my tank at 30%. She had no answer. I have been buying from them for 3 houses for 32 years and it is not unusual to carry a $200 to $300 balance with them...I don't mind paying the interest and they allways get paid Thousands of dollars a year from me. All of a sudden "Ruth" gets a bug up her ass and sends a guy out to one of my houses to shut the gas off without notice. When i call her she gets all snooty and want the $300 balance immediatley, not by mail, not by bill pay (as i usually do) but IMMEDIALTY BY CREDIT CARD. I tell her she is out of line and it will cause me to switch service to all 3 houses and she doesn't care and threatens me because i am not 'being respectful". I never raised my voice, insulted her or became argumentitive....she was looking for and arguement and I didn't give here one. what the heck!! I am the one giving them money instead of any of the other 8 propane companies in the area. It seems they are one of the "good ole boy" and think they can't be replaced. Needless to say, as soon as i get some bids, all my tanks are getting changed out. And BTW, the guy that came out to shut off th gas was good guy. read more

I would not use this company. They are very shady and unhelpful. I just moved and the house I moved into already had JS West. I did not look up reviews and I should have! When I went in to switch into my name, they said the would call within 24 hrs to let me know if I was approved and discuss my options (as I did not want them to add any to the tank). They never called at all and came and filled my tank at full price without letting me know. Of course I now have a $600 bill I can't pay and they are not wanting to help mend the situation or budge or admit their fault. I wish I would have looked around before going to them read more

Where is the " - "sign??? Horrible company. I ordered propane using their online ordering system. Sent the money to them and 4 weeks later I had to call them since I never got the delivery. They apologized and covered the charge for restarting my burner. But... and there is a but... a year later, I did the same mistake of ordering online. They called me to schedule a delivery and asked me to call them back to confirm. I called them back and I asked the lady if the delivery will take place in the morning or in the afternoon (since I had to have somebody home to unlock the gate). She couldn't tell me and was pretty rude when I insisted on getting an answer. She finally told me, that it would be more likely a morning delivery. My husband had to miss an entire day of work waiting ALL DAY for a delivery that never came. We called JS West, and the lady told us that they didn t deliver because their driver was in vacation. I asked them why did they schedule a delivery knowing that their driver was in vacation (no answer on that one). Then, I got a second excuse,nobody call them to confirm the delivery (???? What about my call 3 days before???). Not an apologize... not a re-schedule, nothing but rudeness and lies. Stay away from this company!!!! I have used these guys a couple of years without complaint so when I learned your supposed to get 50 free gallons for referring a friend I took advantage of it, but after I referred them it was a fight to get my credit, total run around. Then within a year they ran out of propane! I called to fill my tank and was told they could not get gas to me! This went on for weeks and weeks! They say the transports from the refinery were stopped but for some reason all the other propane companies had gas. I was lucky as I am on will call meaning I CALL when I need gas and don`t rely on them so I had enough to make it through but I am sure it was the mismanagement of the company that caused it, my street was littered with their tanks with people being forced to get other companies before they froze to death! The next time I called for a fill I noticed they had installed some ugly wired antenna on my tank without my permission bear in mind I rent the tank, so when I called to have them remove it the fight was on and I was told it was "required" so the drivers knew when my tank was low, but as I said before I AM ON WILL CALL! I CALL WHEN I NEED A FILL. I had to threaten them with changing companies before they would remove it. Another year goes by without problems so call to verify if the 50 free gallon policy is still in effect and they say yes so I refer another friend (he asked who i used so he used them too) so after the address was given and they fill his 500 gallon tank they tell me since my buddy lived 25 miles away and his area is served by a different office I wont get my free gas! I told them where he lived prior to all of this! So after fighting with BOTH offices they agree to give me the gas, however I did not need a fill at the time. More recently I called to change out my tank to a bigger one so as I was on the phone I asked about my credit, no surprise they don`t know what I am talking about AGAIN! So after refreshing them and going through the entire ordeal again one lady "remembers me" so again she "puts it in the system" A week later I talk to them about when they might be able to change my tank the reply is within a week, at that time again I confirm my credit on my account (the free gas) but again the reply is "what free gas?" Again I argue! So Friday they set my tank but I was at work, I had to ask a friend to come sit here because they wont do anything unless they can get in your house to light the pilot light on the furnace as though I cant do it myself. So when I get home the antenna is back!! I called complaining and was told that the guy was coming the following THURSDAY to actually FILL THE TANK and that they would remove the monitor at that time, I agreed. On TUESDAY I come home and the tank has been filled! NO REMOVAL OF THE MONITOR!, NO 50 GALLON CREDIT ON MY BILL! I called immediately and I admit I was frustrated after all of the utter incompetence I have dealt with, I got "Ruth" on the phone and began to ask why the truck came on Tuesday etc etc, her reply? "Well sir our driver pretty much does what he wants and he never came into the office to pick up your paperwork" I guess I got a little loud at this point complaining and rightfully so, and at that point she hung up on me!! I called back and the phone went to voice mail several times before reaching another person who said Ruth reported I was threatening her which is total bull. What kind of company has drivers that "do what they want?" I am still trying to get this monitoring device off my rented tank, and get my promised credit. Do yourself a favor and stay away from these "country boys" They clearly do not know what they are doing. I don`t know why I keep putting up with this other to say I have been lazy because I work long hours and did not want the head ache of finding a new company. read more
