In about a week, I went from "I'd like to get to know the neighborhoods in Longmont" to "I need to buy a property asap". The reason for this big change was a medical crisis. Sue did find me a wonderful property, but after the offer letter was accepted, I wound up in the acute care section of the hospital for a couple days, and in that state, I was not, at that point, an attentive buyer. But Sue and her team not ensured that I didn't miss any critical date. More than that, Sue's knowledge of local flooring experts and roofers enabled me to have a place I could safely move into, and a new roof that simply wouldn't have put in place if the reading of the inspector's report and understanding of local ordinances had been in my (somewhat shaky) hands. I can't praise Sue and her team (yeah Cameo!) highly enough for their ability to turn on a time, to keep multiple balls in the air without dropping a one, and while all that's going on, to make it look routine and easy. This gap in knowledge created avoidable stress for the sellers to take care of something in the last week before closing, which I pointed out earlier and was dismissed. Brooke blamed the Lender. I received messages about how hard I was to get in touch with, if unable to be contacted by her immediately, despite me following along with the helpful timeline sheet she provided, and signing documents as needed ASAP. At one point, she needed nothing, except to know she could contact me at a moment's notice as we were in the last 2 weeks to closing. Not as if I didn't have plenty of my own stress, although she was unable to hear that I was super busy at work because she too was so busy. When I tried to go over items on the inspection list for the owners to take care of, without contacting them, she argued on their behalf. This contradicts her position of transaction broker. She said she was a neutral party. No less than 3 times she told me I was getting the house SO MUCH cheaper than it was worth [in this overpriced market]. Not to congratulate me for willingly meeting the price the buyer's named, but to guilt me out because I was buying a house she failed to sell at a much higher price as the listing agent the year prior. What do you expect from a luxury real estate agent in a town that never designed itself for that? When she bragged about selling a home in the mountains for $1.4M sight-unseen to some New Yorkers fleeing the City due to COVID, it further illuminated her values. There are so many existing local folks who've invested decades in these mountains, working to afford homes, trying to climb the ladder too. To her credit, Brooke was extremely communicative, organized and knowledgeable about general real estate processes. Too bad it coincided with her condescension to someone who works with land use and building processes who has worked with many real estate agents over the years. Grateful for masks, because I didn't have to smile knowing she'd rather be dealing with a wealthy investor than a US Veteran and Civil Servant living in this community for nearly 20 years. How disheartening Brooke Weathers made the process of buying my dream home stress-filled from beginning to end, even as I managed to do so in 2020. When she left me the key to my HOME, I knew all of this was going to be a laughable memory very soon, but her guilt trip dampened the first months of such an amazing achievement. I have ZERO regret about my purchase. I knew what I wanted and worked diligently to achieve it. I deserved more respect, but you pay for her 5-star treatment.
