This review is way overdue. We had never used an interior designer before so this was a new process for us. We have a living room with the 20 foot ceiling that opens up to a loft on the 2nd floor. The issue over the years was entertaining as the noise between the loft and living room was fighting each other. In our mind we needed an interior designer and a project manager as our initial thoughts was to build up a wall to separate the two areas, but the intent of the open space in the original design was to allow flow between the two rooms. So we had the idea to build up the wall to separate the space and add a shutter system to allow the space to open for the original intent. In working with Judy she assumed the role of interior designer and project manager as we expected to have a contractor involved in build up the wall to separate the space. We wanted an interior designer to also be involve in how the wall was to be designed as we had dual purpose for this, separate the rooms for noise but yet allow access if needed or required. She takes the time to understand tastes of me and my wife individually. She also provides CAD (computer animated design) previews of her ideas. As the project expanded she accommodated our changes as we included a home theater expansion in our plans. We asked that our living room not look like a home media center and she came up with extremely tasteful ideas that worked for us. We love the space that she has created and it's been a blessing. As a project manager she took away the stress of dealing with the contractors and as an interior designer worked with us to achieve a look and feel that worked both with me and my wife. My first experience with another so-called designer was not good. So I was very hesitant to use the services of another designer, based on my bad experience. Judy came by our home, made suggestions for wall color and decor. She presented two design schemes with two different wall colors. Both were beautiful, but I chose the more conservative moss green/navajo white. We jumped on the suggested wall color because I couldn't stand another minute of the drab, flat paint that was on the wall. The change alone made a dramatic look in our living and dining room. After painting our walls, I knew that I could let go of my hesitance in Judy's suggestions. I do not have the ability to see the big picture, but Judy does. I couldn't imagine what the area rug that she suggested would look like in my home. When the rug was delivered and we put it in the living room, we could now see the change, the warmth that was greatly needed in our home. Judy asks for input, makes suggestions that are cost-effective and aesthetically beautiful. She is easy to work with. I was not in a hurry for my room to be done, so I can't speak to time frames. I am always willing to wait. I have a welcoming, warm, beautiful living and dining room. Some of my family visited me the other day and remarked that the living/dining room looked like a room in a model home. We are so pleased with our experience with Judy. We had Judy help us redecorate two rooms in our house. From the first sketches she made at her first visit, I knew she would do a wonderful job. She listened to what we wanted, paid attention to the other furniture in our house and our tastes, and was very aware of our budget. Judy is great! We reached out to Judy with a HUGE list of items to discuss with her. What can I say, we were clueless when it comes to how to decorate a house and how to best use our open space. Judy came to our house and provided great feedback on paint colors for our interior, drew a floor plan design for future furniture (provided exact size dimensions), and provided us with a list of furniture places to check out that would cater to our furniture tastes. When Judy says she wants to satisfy her client 100%, she means it! After living in our home for 25 years and raising 3 children in it, it was time for a major overhaul!! Most importantly our kitchen and family room needed the most attention. We started there and I was SO impressed when Judy sat down during our first meeting and sketched out a design for the kitchen and family room. Judy knocked the socks off my contractor when he saw the design build plans. He didn't have to do anything to them for the permits. Judy is extremely organized and I hired her for the management of the project as well. I have to say after reading his review everything is false. It is not illegal to ask for 25% down if you are a designer. She is not a contractor so it is legal. I must admit I never thought I'd ever reach out to someone for Interior design / functionality assistance. I had NO idea what to expect. Ask for 25% down upfront - which is illegal. I told here I'd pay her when the 25% was completed. Makes an appointment with me and then when the time changes, delays it by one week. I have had positive experiences with designers in other states so I have some experience in this area. I had met with another designer at my previous home and was not impressed so when I moved into my current home, I was back on the hunt. I talked to designers who had up front minimum's on size of project which I didn't care for. Judy was willing to work with me regardless of my budget (which ended up being well over the minimum's the other designers had). Judy was attentive to our requests but politely discouraged or redirected some which would have derailed the overall look we were going for (which I clearly realize now). My style is fairly niche since I am not from here and although it wasn't a style she typically designs - she was able to flex and nailed the look. She was sensitive to things that were personal to us while still brining style to the room. One thing to realize is she is fairly particular when picking out furniture and accessories but when I saw the difference of the things she pointed out, I now notice it everywhere i go and her being particular is what made my room look great.
