We recently hired Alina to help redecorate our downstairs (living room, family room, bedroom + bath). We had many pieces of furniture that didn't really go together with any particular theme and didn't really match our desired style. We decided it was time to get our house looking like grownups lived there, so we went looking for a designer in the area. We contacted a few people, but were impressed by Alina's very prompt response via email and her reasonable rate. When she came over for the initial consultation, she already began giving us good ideas of things that would make the place look so much better, so we knew we were on the right track. Our initial budget wasn't realistic and she was very up front about how much things would really cost. She ended up predicting it almost perfectly. We ended up saving a bunch of money on our awesome new furniture (especially our sectional and couch) by using her recommended vendors since she gets a discount. We received a detailed proposal within 48 hours, which we accepted with some small modifications to cut back on costs, and then received our initial design proposal ahead of schedule. We were already impressed with the initial design, and then worked with her to substitute some of the pieces to fit a preferred color scheme. Throughout the whole process, she was extremely prompt and responsive via email and text. She accompanied us to many appointments and recommended an awesome painter who gave us a great deal. She really worked with our budget and suggested a lot of cheaper options for items that didn't matter as much (i.e. small decorations were almost all from Home Goods, saving us significant $$). My husband and I own a modest tract home in the SF East Bay. Across two years and three phases, Alina Druga helped us transform our home into a place of comfort and beauty. Phase one began with an unfortunate water infiltration problem into our basement. After we fixed the drainage issue, Alina helped us create "triple function" in our basement room so that it serves as an office, a library and a guest room with ensuite. Alina is wonderful!! I have used her services twice so far. First time she help my husband and I get past a hurtle. We couldn't agree on the next piece of furniture to put in our dining room therefore we did nothing for months. All we had in there was a table and chairs. We used Alina Druga as a consultant for the many questions we had about how to complete the interior decorating of our home. She was so helpful and she answered all of our questions. It was a huge relief to get such clear and expert advice. We'd done most of the decorating ourselves, but we were stuck on how to finish it. We had some dilemmas that we couldn't seem to solve on our own. She was able to offer advise and suggestions on both how to use what we already had and what to add as purchases when we can. She was a wealth of information. We discussed the correct placing of a chandelier, including how it needs to be installed; how to lighten up a living room that is too dark; the furniture layout of a room to suit our needs, along with color suggestions for the accessories; and she suggested window coverings for the master bedroom that gets too much street light at nighttime. We had consulted with someone else on the window coverings who was leading us in another direction, but we weren't satisfied. We liked Alina's suggestions better. Alina saved us at least $200.00 on an electrician. And, I was about to make pillows for the living room in the wrong colors. I found Alina on Craig's List, and I liked her website and portfolio. My husband was skeptical, but he quickly changed his mind when she was here. Her consulting fee is very reasonable, and even more so when considering the money saved on making further mistakes.
