After being treated for bipolar disorder by a lot of different providers for over a decade, I went looking for a doctor who could help me go off my meds, replacing them with nutritional cures. I'm so glad I found Dr. Tsafrir, as she fit the bill completely. She surprised me with a few things, like her only seeing patients who are in psychoanalysis with her, and her admitting that psychopharmacology is not her strong suit. But since the psychopharmacologists have managed to control my moods only partially, and with severe weight gain and other side effects, I was ready to try something new. We have constructed a plan that should enable me to get off my meds eventually, but in the meantime, I've been surprised how helpful the psychoanalysis has been. After so many years with so many therapists, I thought there was nothing that I didn't know about myself. Dr. Tsafrir's insights on my family of origin have indeed helped me understand my current behavioral patterns better, and I feel very hopeful about continuing to grow with her help. Dr. Tsafrir was my perfect guide into the world of holistic, non-medicinal psychiatry. Over the past 5 years, I have seen many doctors for my anxiety, depression, and other various symptoms. I can't even count the number of different medications I have been prescribed, and they all ended with the same result: relief from the primary symptoms with an addition of new side effects. I met Dr. Tsafrir in the middle of a crisis. She saw me immediately, and took me in as a patient with great care. After a few weeks of seeing Dr. Tsafrir, I had come off of some medication and was introduced to a holistic nutritionist. I have been seeing Dr Tsafrir for five years. During that time I have transitioned from being on meds to going off them and following a diet instead. I am so amazed! I have never felt this good in my life! I remember when I first went to see her, how nervous I was. It's a paradox that it is when you're at your most fragile that you have to be brave and seek help. When I stepped into her office for the first time it wasn't scary at all. She is so warm and respectful of you as a person, it was like coming home. Dr Tsafrir is always seeking new ways to help and she's really innovative. She'll have a Skype session with you if you're out of town, she blogs and she stays updated (!) on special diets as a fom of treatment and possible replacement for meds. I just love that she doesn't send you down an already paved path of "depressed+sleeping problems = 100 mg of Drug X". I'm very suspicious about all the positive reviews about this "doctor" notice how all the members don't have their photos up or other reviews about other businesses. I've had such a horrible experience with this lady I was in tears...There are other negative reviews about her on the internet so do your research before picking Tsafrir. She is someone who is only interested in a paycheck and NOT helping anyone. Don't waste your money or time. No compassion at all. Judy has picked the wrong profession and is not compassionate towards her patients at all. All she wants is a quick buck and doesn't know how to take care of her patients. For those without insurance she charges $225 for 45 minutes, she doesn't even give you the whole hour! What a rip off. I found her reading of my solar return to be thought provoking as I look at the possibilities for what the next year might hold for me.
