My partner and I went to her for couples counseling and sex therapy and I was constantly shamed by her. There were some things she was helpful with, and she was very sweet, but overall did more harm than good. My partners lack of pulling their weight in the relationship and displays of toxic, borderline emotionally abusive behaviors were immediately shut down by her. I was told not to "shame" my partner and asked "why I allowed it." When my partner admitted to their lack of follow through on things that made them unreliable, I was asked if my "daddy trust issues" were the reason. And then we moved on. My mental exhaustion from my partners lack of taking responsibility and attentiveness was instead framed as me having an iron deficiency. In which's he called her sister into the room and prescribed me supplements. She's not a medical doctor. She heavily colluded with my partner, rarely holding them accountable, and kept telling me I needed to just get in touch with my feminine goddess energy and just initiate sex more. It was truly an awful experience. Even such, her replying to reviews on here, admitting to the other poor review that she doesn't know them breaks confidentiality, something an ethical therapist would know. She is a sex educator and that's it. I wouldn't trust her with trauma or actual relationship issues other than trying to improve your sex life (and only if there are no other issues present).

So after looking at many of the good reviews, I decided to give her a call to set up an…read moreappointment. I remember the first time I called her, we went back and forth leaving messages. We finally got a hold of each other and I jokingly said, "Looks like we kept missing each other" and she replies "Well, you kept missing me." She is a little snide, so I actually didn't set up an appointment. A few weeks later I decided to give the whole therapy thing another shot. So I talked to my insurance and again, she looked like the best candidate so I went to her and Set up a time. When I first got there, there were forms on the floor on a clipboard learning against the wall to fill out. I picked them up and started writing in the information. There was a blood spot (or something that looked suspiciously like blood) on the paper, so I stopped filling it out. I mentioned it to her and she nonchalantly said, "well you need to finish filling this out" and handed it back to me. So I did, I was annoyed. Finishing the paperwork was cutting into my 50 min that was guaranteed in the form, so I quickly wrote in the rest. I said "I hope you can read my chicken scratch," again jokingly. Stone faced she said, "probably not". Then she tells me that our meetings only last 45 min, which specifically said in the forms 50 minutes. So immediately, my first impressions were pretty sour. I shrugged it off. I talked, she seemed bored. Like she had to listen to another a-hole for 45 minutes. She chimed in here and there but mostly I talked. I felt like a lot of what I was saying was being judged based on her facial expressions. I still had to work out arrangements for time off from work, so I put our second meeting on hold. Which, I can admit, there was a little confusion with that. We agreed to see each other the following week through email. I arrived to next week and she wasn't there. I called her and left a message, she didn't respond until an hour later leaving a voicemail saying she didn't know we were meeting. And she would just expect me the following week. I met with her two or three times after that with good results. It was fine. I could tell she was warming up to me, but she still seemed cold. When she greeted me, she didn't shake my hand, give hugs... etc. Not that I expect or need that, but I didn't know what to expect from a therapist, but it all just seemed cold. Our last meeting I got there 5 minutes late. I had an important work thing I was dealing with. So I was like, I'm sorry I'm late. "Next time you are late, call me so I know if I should come or not." Okay... maybe I should have let her know I was going to be a few minutes late, but she straight up missed one of our meetings and I didn't hassle her about it. Plus it was 5 minutes. Now if I was 6 minutes late, then I could understand the inconvenience. I emailed her telling her that I was not going to be coming anymore. My first email draft was a little more frustrated but decided to take the high road and write something a little more professional. She never responded, thus this review. I wasn't going to write one but decided that it was such a (not a bad, but not a good) experience, I would share. Looks like she has helped a lot of others, but for me, it caused me a lot of stress.
