My daughters currently attend JLPAA. Before enrolling here, my youngest was struggling to keep up in her class and had a difficult time doing homework even with my help. Something about this school and their teachers completely changed the way ALL my daughters receive their education. They make it fun, exciting and easy to learn. My youngest is thriving more than ever and can now feel like she can keep up with her big sisters. Their music program is amazing and my children enjoy it so much. my daughters fourth grade teacher took part in gossiping with other parents, I believe her name was Ms. G. Social aggression in the class was happening and my daughter was suddenly refusing to go to school. I started paying close attention to the group chat the girls had going and quickly realized there was a lot of exclusion and bullying happening. I took screen shots of the girls' chats and the teachers messages she had with a parent that another mom had sent me. I was polite, respectful, and very patient. I was promised a confrontation with the girls, coaching sessions, etc. however, weeks went by and although they kept promising interventions, which I was very accommodating and supportive of for everyone involved, they quickly went silent. they swept it under the rug. I ended up having to pull my daughter out of the classroom. I had tried to approach the teacher, Miss G, and she was rude, dismissive, and accusatory of my daughter being the culprit (mind you, this is one girl up against about 6). I had recorded this conversation as well. The principle was nice and "I'm a christian" to my face, but she did nothing about the behavior and never reached out- even after my daughter was pulled from the school. Don't send your kids here, they seem to favor the majority of the minority. read more

The math teacher is an amazing teacher for 7th and 8th grade students. He helps the kids learn different ways and have good relationships with the kids that they love going to his class . He is thinking about leaving because the school treats him so poorly not the students the teachers and staffed he is constantly getting yelled at for thing out of his control. I do not recommend anyone to send their child here. Their principal is very dishonest. They get every negative review removed from all platforms. I would advise asking a local FB page about any good/bad experiences and go from there. Also, you can see their testing scores on various websites...they are "below average" that in itself should tell you all you need to know. Staff turn over is constant as well. read more

I am grateful for Julia Lee Performing Arts Academy,they are on top of my kids education progress,it is like a big family to me. I love going to performances and watching them singing and dancing it is amazing, the teachers do a great job. read more

This school has truly failed my younger brother in ways i can't wrap my head around, the staff is unpleasant and their go-to for anything is excuses or trying to blame the victims to cover themselves. Very unprofessional as to the way they speak to students, how they take off points or try to force their new beliefs onto children when asked not to, and have no intention on following through with their promises to guardians. Very few good teachers and no discipline to misbehaving students nor bullies, just excuses. I sent him there with high hopes for him to heal from his last school, but definitely transferring him out. Such an amazing place . My daughter joined Julia Lee in second grade and now she's in 5th grade . It's a place that motivates her , a place that offers care and safety . She has been a top student and that's due to the wonderful teachers she worked with (Ms Caro, Ms Black ,Ms Wakelin ) They built her confidence and brought back her sweet smile . Guys unfortunately I must agree with Deborah below. I had such high hopes for the school being new to the area and seeing such wonderful reviews online but after my child attended only one year I have removed her and placed her in another school. Not just myself but at least 5 other students and parents that I know of personally have also decided not to continue with JLPAA. In fact in applying to another local public school a fellow classmate of my daughter who was on the honor role and making straight A's at JLPAA, took a placement test and was told her math was 2 years behind and her English was at least a year behind. We have had to get tutors to work with our children over the summer just to get them back on grade level. The school has used many excuses as to why the students were not being taught on the proper grade level and they tend to quickly fall back on the old COVID excuse... the students were behind due to covid so we don't want to overwhelm them. My daughter was never behind until she attended JLPAA. Now she is crying while tutoring saying "the school didnt teach her anything and she is going to be the dumb one in class" if she goes to another school. This school also has a problem with children lacking discipline so it does indeed make it harder to teach when they are too focused on the children who misbehave and punish the entire class for a few bad apples. The performing arts portion is a joke. Well at least the dance program. The "hip hop" lacked seasoning to say it nicely. Walk step, walk step if you get my drift. They did not offer any other disciplines either. No ballet, no jazz and so on. I was going to keep quite but once I saw the schools reply which basically said that Deborah's review was a lie, erroneous, false... whatever, I had to speak up. Beware!!!! read more

This is not a performing arts school and the curriculum is not up to grade level. You do not have to tryout to be accepted into this school. Just apply and if your grade level has availability your in. You can make straight A's here and have to repeat your grade level at another school. read more

This is the worst school, the principle, staff and teachers are absolutely terrible. If you love your children, find another school!

Love this school. My kids have been attending since the first day they open their doors. I've had a great experience with all the teacher's my kids have had. They all love their teachers and always want to attend school. I recommend this school 100%!!! My kids have never been bullied by anyone or seen anyone get bullied. That's a plus for me!! read more

I love JLPAA because everyone is family and no one is left behind! I absolutely love Tonya who is doing an exceptional job establishing her school! The teachers are great and very helpful and we are all getting through this COVID pandemic together no matter how hard it is! Can't wait to go back in person! read more
