We saw our daughter's independent and creative play truly flourish during her time in this class, and it was wonderful to watch her confidence and imagination grow. Anne Sullivan pre school is a magical space for little ones. My tow daughter went here when they were little and now one of them has a 2 1/2 year child who attends this school. They have such a caring staff, well developed curriculum and very creative special events and days. Today is Pirate day and my grand child is excited about wearing an eye patch and going to school! She says she will greet everyone with an "aargh" instead of hello! The school campus is on a beautiful piece of land with tons of trees and out door paths. After touring several schools with small play areas, we were instantly impressed by Anne Sullivan's amazing outdoor space -- the large play areas, beautiful garden, and focus on outdoor exploration make it such a special place for kids to learn and grow. The administration has over 50 years of experience in early childhood education, and it truly shows in the way they care for every single child and family. Our son began his journey here in preschool, and the teachers didn't just teach him -- they guided us as parents through each developmental milestone. He started off as a shy, curious little guy and, with their encouragement, grew into a confident classroom leader. By TK, he was learning sight words and developed such a strong foundation in reading that he's now one of the top readers in his first-grade class -- all thanks to the incredible start he received at Anne Sullivan. When our daughter was ready to start school, there was no question where she would go. The team of Ms. Judy and Ms. Jesse made school such a joyful first experience for both our kids. Ms. Judy is kind and nurturing, encouraging our children socially and emotionally, while Ms. Jesse brings so much fun and engagement to the classroom -- together they are the perfect preschool teacher team. We also had a wonderful experience with Ms. Hilda and Ms. Noemi, who create such a warm and creative classroom, encouraging silly play, imagination, and social development. We recently moved to the area and wanted this school to work so badly. The grounds are beautiful making up for the small class rooms where children spend most the day. The school is ran by a group of elderly women who live on the property with ties to the community which we viewed as a positive. Our 2yo was undergoing quite the adjustment with a new house, school, routine and sibling on the way. After less than 5 weeks Ms.Judy arranged a meeting with us after providing a letter stating that he needed to be evaluated by a professional due to emotional outbursts and not talking/engaging with other students. We were shocked- he was thriving at his school prior and although we knew the move was an adjustment "needs to be evaluated by a professional" completely caught us off guard. We met with her, explained all his recent adjustments, provided progress reports from his last school and a language sample from a speech therapist all stating he was advanced or meeting milestones for his age. Hoping things would improve, we stayed for another 2 months but it was clear that not only is Ms.Judy not used to being challenged, her opinion of our child was not going to change. His other teacher Ms.Jesse was welcoming, provided constructive feedback and was positive about his progress, told us about the relationships he was building etc. I would see our son engaging with other children at pickup/drop off, would purposely show up at varying times and sometimes watch from the fence discreetly .. Nothing about his behavior looked different than the other toddlers in his class. Still, all comments by Ms.Judy in the class app continued to inform us that our child was a problem. Fortunately, this prompted us to look into alternatives which was a blessing as we have had the opposite experience from our new school. Not once have we felt like our son is a burden and it has been a relief to partner with his teachers to help him grow socially and emotionally rather than convincing them to give him a chance while defending age appropriate behaviors to teachers who we assume have experience in this field. None of the teachers in the sunshine room hold a degree in early childhood development, none are medical professionals capable of diagnosing toddlers after a few weeks of knowing them, most staff is elderly and all seem to struggle with the student to teacher ratio (12:1). We gave this place months and moving schools is such a burden on our little ones but I only wish I had removed him sooner. Please do not let the landscape sway your decision over quality care-there are plenty of alternatives. read more

We are so grateful to have a preschool & TK like Anne Sullivan in town. This school came highly recommended by those in child development and education. Since attending this school, I've seen tremendous growth both academically and socially in my kids. The large shaded outdoor space with multiple playgrounds and garden is incredible. While the teachers were kind, the Director is extremely unprofessional and would continue to disclose information about our child to someone who is not a parent/legal guardian. My daughter started here in July in the rainbow room, she had just turned 2 and was used to being with me 24/7. She has done so amazing adapting and I believe that's because of the amazing teachers and welcoming/warm environment. My daughter has been attending Anne Sullivan for a year now and it has truly been a blessing to find such a dedicated preschool. She was moved to a more advanced class half way through the year, and to say the transition was tough is an understatement. She loved her old class and wanted to go back. It was a tough decision but I felt it was better for her to be challenged in the new class. The teachers here are so dedicated and were very patient with her as she acted out and had behaviors. Here we are months later and my daughter is so well behaved and has matured so much through the help of her teachers. She's writing her name and various words at the age of 3! She knows all of her letters, numbers, and has blossomed beyond belief. I am so grateful for this school. The teachers here are so kind and they are dedicated to making sure your child succeeds. It's so hard to find good daycares but this is one I recommend again and again. They teach them how to garden and enjoy lots of outdoor play on their large land. We had a tour today and we weren't greeted nicely . We were told to wait outside in hot weather and waited for director for almost 10 minutes to come meet us and when she finally did . One of the questions she asked was "are you vaccinated ?" My husband said no we are not . She immediately got mad and told us how that so wrong and bad and walked away as I was filling out a form didn't say goodbye or nice to meet you , nothing .... So unprofessional and rude .. me and my husband did not even know what to say ... it shouldn't matter what choices we make in our own lives it has nothing to do with my child going to that school. Very worth sending your kids here for as long as possible to help curb the indoctrination while you can. I love the teacher to child ratios , their hours of operation , and the entire school environment . Anne Sullivan is an amazing Preschool & Kindergarten and my children couldn't be happier here. The entire staff is so sweet, loving and treats my children like their own. My daughter has been in the school since she was 3 years old and she cannot wait to get back to school on Monday to see all of the teachers. My son attended the school for 2 years but has now been out of the school for a year and when he comes with me to pick up his sister the staff is still so sweet and friendly to him and always says hello, gives him a hug, asks how his new school is, etc. This school is amazing. The kids are so well taken care of, they learn so much from the staff including normal child education, healthy eating habits, how to treat others, and much, much more. I am always amazed at the things my daughter tells me she has learned. She has blossomed into such a wonderful young lady and I know a lot of this is thanks to Anne Sullivan and their staff. Anne Sullivan is a gem! My oldest grandchild has attended for 3 years and his brother began preschool this year. I am so appreciative of the staff and the opportunities they provide children. My husband and I are educators, and we are impressed with the nurturing, rigorous environment. Children are respectful of each other because that is what is modeled by adults and is expected. If a child is unkind towards another, teachers patiently correct the behavior and refocus the child. We've witnessed class parties where students wait patiently for their turn, help themselves to treats and then pass the tray on for the next student to partake. It sounds simple, but it's amazing to watch 3 and 4 year olds work together as a caring community. Learning is hands-on and creativity is encouraged. You will not find worksheets in the preschool program. Students build, sing, and play with a focus on academics. Our 3 year old recognizes upper and lower cases letters, knows letter sounds and recognizes words. He has one-to-one correspondence and counts into the teens. He's excited and adores his teachers. I have never been as offended as I was after my wife and I were told to look for other places for our autistic daughter. They advertise that they don't discriminate based on disability, but the director had her mind made up less than two minutes after we got into her office. She gave every standard reason as to why our autistic daughter wouldn't fit there, even though she hadn't even seen our daughter or how she interacts with others. First it was "she'll need an aid to follow her" When we said "great so she can have someone come with her" then it was "their classes are too big" and "she probably can't handle the noise." Then it was "she needs more structure than they provide" and "she probably can't transition into our activities." It was clear that they didn't want her or our business. Not even we can try, or let's see how it goes. The director was kind enough to let us know that if our daughter ever "gets better" we can try again. Don't think so. They may have a great program for typical children, but they wanted nothing to do with us. Their loss!!! read more

I came across this Yelp page and wondered how in the world Ann Sullivan Preschool had less than a perfect 5. So, I read the reviews that caused it. It sounds unfortunate, but it is also obvious that both bad reviews are made by people who have never had a child attend there. My son attended 23 years ago. This school was so important to his early childhood. My wife and I were going through a divorce, and this school was his rock. The ladies that run it actually dedicate their entire lives to their work. ...one more word about the negative reviews: the one was from someone who felt very hurt, the other from someone who identified. Knowing the women who run the school leads me to trust them implicitly regarding their refusal to take an autistic child. They more than likely simply feel - and probably know - that their program is not for children with certain challenges. That is sad: if they were a larger, more comprehensive place, maybe they could. As an educator myself, I think that more than likely they would do wonders with an autistic child - and other children would miss some of their focus because of it. I taught in a regular high school classroom where I have had autistic kids mainstreamed: I never regretted it- and I loved those kids ...and it often took my time from others. So, yes, three big cheers for Ann Sullivan Preschool, one of the best preschools on the planet, no doubt. read more
