Emerson was in my top two, with Hampshire College in Amherst being my #1 top choice. I auditioned…read morefor Emerson's Theater Program (they held auditions in my hometown of NYC) got accepted, and then spent a weekend on campus in Boston, stayed on campus, ate in the dining hall, sat in on some Friday and Monday classes, had my admissions office interview and left campus. I TOTALLY fell in love with Emerson and could easily have gone there (it was like a smaller, friendlier version of NYU). It was a tough choice for me actually (I agonized over it) to have to choose between the two schools. Being from NYC, I chose Hampshire over Emerson ONLY because I wanted a smaller more rural campus experience for my undergraduate education (trading NYC for Boston wasn't a fit for me at the time) chances are, now today, I would probably choose Emerson. In every OTHER way, Emerson ticked ALL the boxes for me. In fact, in certain aspects, I wish I had gone to Emerson instead of Hampshire (because Emerson did have a LOT to offer me), because of the fact that Emerson had better options to study in places other than Boston, and Hampshire didn't (Emerson also has better facilities for Theater & Film than Hampshire does) BUT, it wasn't as academically experimental at Emerson, and I wouldn't have learned as much from getting grades as I did from detailed evaluations, but I would have been more creatively fulfilled at Emerson overall, because of the urban, artistic environment that Boston would have offered. Emerson had accepted me, and I was about to accept and enroll and become an Emersonian because I hadn't heard back from Hampshire (and I had worked pretty hard to get into Emerson) yet. Lo and behold, Hampshire then sent me my acceptance letter (hey, this was back in the early 90's) so I turned Emerson down. It was a tough, tough choice because although the two schools are radically different, they attract a LOT of the same kinds of students: artsy, quirky, creative, intellectual and independent. That's what made the choice SO difficult for me. The TOUGHEST choice I made in my undergraduate college career.

For my 100th review I am going to review my lovely Emerson College…read more I will admit, my first semester at Emerson I thought I was going to transfer to NYU. Then my sophomore year I thought I might transfer to school in London and actually I am sure I had lots of other plans to escape in the works, but each time I was convinced to stay -- and now I look back at Emerson and don't wish I had spent my undergrad anywhere else. I love Emerson because the students are PASSIONATE about what they want to do in life! If you enter as a freshman at Emerson as Undeclared you are an an outcast. This sounds strange but I LOVED that everyone knew what they wanted to do and was driven towards getting there. As a freshman you can dive right in and start working on films, writing for one of the school magazines or preforming in a comedy troupe. Then by your senior year you have tons of expereince for your resume. Emerson kids like to be involved 24/7. Then Emerson kids actually get a job in the field they studied! I went to Emerson for Marketing and Publishing and minored in Entrepreneurship, Photography and Management. Now I started my own publishing company and do all the marketing :) All my friends who majored in Film or TV are out in LA working as PA's or editors, my marketing friends are account managers etc. etc. It can be tricky to make friends at Emerson, because it is a campus in the city and everyone is involved in projects all the time. But get involved with a project and all of a sudden you have 10 new friends. The location is great because its right in the middle of downtown on the park which is perfect in the spring and fall. Its so nice to be in the middle of the city but have lots of green near by :) Its also easily accessible to Chinatown, Downtown, Financial District, Theater District, South End, Beacon Hill, North End etc. *I must admit that I know go back and sit on those Almuni panels that talk about how great Emerson is, I just liked it that much :) On a side note I love how Emersonians are fashionable people and dress for class! This is not one of those campuses where you go to class in a sweatshirt and pj pants. Since most Emersonians are style mavens or heading to their internship after class, its like a walking fashion show of hipster attire down Boylston. In fact, Boston magazine named the corner of Boylston and Tremont one of the most fashionable and attractive corners in Boston thanks to Emerson students!

I started because after…read morestudying in England for several years the dentists they're had done a significant amount of damage to my teeth which meant a lot of restoration work back in the U.S. it started with a root canal that had to be redone that was done on England and got infected. My insurance was all used up for the year with one root canal and crown. Then they told me that another root canal was getting infected and this one also needed surgery, but my dental insurance was used up for the year and it would be months before the end of the year. But it was starting to hurt so this couldn't wait for months. Since I wouldn't be able to afford it without insurance, someone told me that it is much cheaper as a patient at the dental school at Tufts. I arranged for an appointment and became a patient and have been one for years. Due to it being a dental school, the appointments take a lot longer and are booked for 3 hour time slots (most times it may take less than that, sometimes though, it may need a little longer). Everything is double checked by a professor every step the way so no mistakes are ever made. Also being students they tend to be very cautious not to hurt you, whereas experienced dentists don't really care about your discomfort and just want to get the job finished. With a good dentist that can be a good thing as they will finish berry fast and not hurt you at all, but some dentists are not very good. This had never been an issue here. Every couple of years the student that I was assigned to graduates do a new student has to be assigned. The appointments might take longer, but the price even if they don't take your insurance can't be beat. If they do take your insurance, I would definitely use them. I'm glad I found this place.

I had great experiences with Uniber, Dr. Mielke, and Katrina. I would definitely consider TUSDM for ordinary checkups and other treatments. I had been having some lingering issues due to an underlying autoimmune condition and went in to fast-track a referral to the corresponding specialist. It took a bit longer than average but I knew that coming in, so I had no problem with that. It was decided that I needed a rather quick referral to Oral Surgery, so I scheduled the first appointment possible. I then ended up getting an earlier opening. The night before, I was told that my medical nor dental insurance would be covering my OMFS visit and I was expected to pay nearly $800 out of pocket. In complete shock, I was left confused as both my dental and health insurance are accepted. After sorting it out all during the night AND the morning after, my appointment was confirmed. As I was commuting to Tufts and looking forward to getting some answers that would lead to relief, I was told that I needed to go through the Craniofacial Pain Center before a surgery referral. I told the coordinator that I was on the four-month long waitlist and that TUSDM providers had sent me to OMFS. She told me I needed to see a specialist before a surgeon - which would make complete sense had a provider not made a direct OMFS referral. After asking if my option was to deal with the symptoms and wait four months, I was told that someone would talk to the Craniofacial Center in person and call me back with advice. I never got a call back, and had to call back myself to make an appointment several months out. Amidst debilitating symptoms that have impacted my eating, appearance, and have given me intense pain, I scheduled a much sooner visit at another office. I have complete trust that Tufts providers will take a multidisciplinary, professional approach to my care, but I could not wait several months. I WANTED to choose Tufts. My girlfriend recently had oral surgery at Tufts and did not have a good experience either so I was skeptical, but this confirmed it for me. :( Now, I have to deal with coordinating my care between multiple healthcare systems all while dealing with the same symptoms. TLDR: only pick TUSDM if you're a low-maintenance patient.

They offer bridge programs to be able to skip your 4th year of your undergrad and go right into your first year of your graduate program a year early. They will then tell you that you are missing classes for your undergrad degree after already doing an entire fall semester of your graduate program. They will then tell you that you need to leave your graduate program to go back to undergrad classes in the spring. They tell you that you can go back into your graduate program the following fall after they have already taken your finical aide for your first year of grad school. You do not get refunded and will have to pay for your fall semester of your graduate program 2x. As you will have to pay for your fall graduate semester again after going back to complete your undergrad classes required. They currently are doing it to my daughter and a few of her fellow friends in PA school that were excepted early access. I am currently speaking with a lawyer to see if this is financial aide fraud and also if I have a racial discrimination case as they are only singling out students of color. If so I am going to be suing this school. They told me daughter she will automatically be accepted to PA school next fall as they keep a few slots open before they offer external student for this exact reason. That right there tells me this "happens" a lot. Seems like a scam to me if I'm being honest.
