Both seem to be used for multiple types of use. There are diving boards on the deeper one as well as lap lanes. Does seem crowded but not many swimming options in the area. Took toddler lessons one time, and my kid really enjoyed it. We liked coming to this pool. Facilities were clean. Family room and general locker room available. Never needed to wait for use of any of these. Teachers were not consistent lesson after lesson. So, for kids of a very small age, this can take some time getting used to. Even then my kid had a great time and got comfortable with water. My biggest reason for 3 stars as opposed to 4 is because we have not been able to book any follow up swim lessons due to it being super full. read more

Got monthly youth passes for my kids to practice swimming. Its an excellent pool to practice swimming and diving.

Crowded, noisy, hot and completely lacking in locker room amenities, this pool is only for the die-hard. There are only EIGHT cold-water showerheads in the women's locker room! The swimming teachers seemed more interested in barking commands than in helping the kids learn, and the swim team coach was shouting at those teenagers too, making the place echo like a canyon. I'd skip this pool. Bellevue's public pool is MUCH nicer. read more

My daughter has taken 6 sessions of swimming lessons here. For the first three, she had the same wonderful teacher and made a ton of progress. She's had different teachers for each session since, and they've all been quite disappointing. These teachers have lacked the skills to work effectively with young kids. They often seem unengaged and distracted, they they don't seem able to work with the kids on their specific needs, and they waste so much class time. The lack of consistently good teachers has been frustrating, especially given what lessons cost. read more

There is not a lot of parking here. But they have a lot of open swim hours and it's cheap to drop in for those hours. The staff is ok. Not overly friendly, but they do answer questions. One of my kids is doing the diving class. It's a short class, but she has fun. And it's pretty cheap as well. There are dressing rooms/bathrooms. Upstairs has a viewing balcony. It's hot up there with the heat blowing. And it's loud when a lot of kids are swimming. But we like this place and are enjoying the pool for open swim and classes. read more

This swimming training class that we signed up our kids are not what we expected. Lack of shower heads, crowded and hot. Takes forever to get to shower after class. The facility is lacking of serious trainers. Usually 5 min into class instructor still prepares for basic things and we paid for that? I would think the instructor would be in the pool 5 min before class starts and prep. Not coming back nor will sign up kids again. I would recommend getting a private good instructor somewhere else or waste the money with this. Also if you miss the class for any reason they do not offer a make up classes. read more

We Love the Boehm Pool. It's a very family friendly pool with a wide variety of lessons and activities. The facility is clean and the staff is very friendly. I highly recommend the pool. I once came with my young daughter and she was very comfortable using the changing rooms all on her own and we had a great time. I am taking my kids to swimming classes here. What a mistake. The facility still looks old even though it's been recently updated. The help here at the pool is useless and they just don't care. Parking is horrible here. The worse part is trying to use the family bathroom after my kids lesson. There are parents sitting in both bathrooms holding the rooms for there kids who haven't even finish their swim lesson. Overall this place is horrible. Once my kids lessons are done we are going to the YMCA I'm Sammamish. Newer facility and the staff here there is much better read more

Busy, loud and old facility. With the amount of kids in the pool, I found myself on high alert in the germ department. There is an insane number of classes going at once, almost 2 per lane. While in the pool with my youngest, a bandaid floated by me and made me want to run for the hills. No "street shoes" are allowed right around the pool but the hard uneven surface of the floor, makes walking barefoot uncomfortable, almost painful. They ask the parents to sit on the upper level on the benches/bleachers during swim lessons. If you have a little one in a stroller, you have to carry the stroller up a flight of steps as there is not an elevator. I find this annoying. The spectator section/seating is not handicap accessible or stroller friendly. Either let parents sit poolside with strollers or bring this ancient facility into modern times and make it accessible. The locker rooms are atrocious. There are bricks of the little square lockers and benches with hooks. There are a couple bathroom stalls and signs asking you not to use them as changing rooms. There is one shower stall with a curtain which says its reserved for people with special needs. While I am not looking for luxurious accommodations at the public pool, these lockers are sub par and disgusting. Bandaids and other randomness on the floors, the entire locker room smells like urine, too few bathroom stalls and absolutely no where to change if you have an ounce of modesty. It looked like it could be a prison shower room. My 4 year old doesnt mind but I wouldn't even use this locker room personally. I'd walk over the the community center. Having already prepaid for swim lessons, we will finish them but I absolutely will not step foot back into this old and dated facility. I feel like the locker rooms are inadequate, spectator seating is not easily accessible for everyone and the facility does not look or feel clean. It's too bad the facility is such a shame because I feel like the swim classes are decent and are priced good. My 4 year old's swim instructor is great. One of my favorite places to go in Issaquah. The staff there is very nice, always willing to help anyone who needs it. The pool offers swim classes and open swim. Swim classes are run by the local staff and the kids love it. Open swim is busy sometimes but always well managed. The lifeguards are always willing to answer any questions you need answered and front desk is always very kind. I recommend this pool to anyone who wants to start swimming more, has kids who want to learn to swim or just someone who wants to have fun! read more

This has got to be the cleanest pool I've ever been to. I am a diving coach of almost 20 years and have seen my fair share of pools across this state. The staff is top notch. They put safety above all else and as a parent I feel better knowing that my kids are being kept safe. The management is so kind and helpful whenever I have a question or concern. The swim instructors are very capable young people who have passion for aquatics and helping the community. I give Boehm pool an A+. The Julius Boehm pool was renovated recently and reopened in 2015 so keep that in mind when reading the older reviews from 2013, etc. If you have older children (9+) or use the pool for swim meets, parties, etc. this review may not be relevant for you. If you are planning to take your young child to swim lessons then read on. My 7 year old son has been taking lessons since the fall at the Julius Boehm pool. Overall the cleanliness of the lobby and pool area and quality of the instruction are fine. However I have a major concern with their friendliness towards families. If you have a child 5 or under they are allowed to go into the dressing room with their parent of either gender. Once your child turns 5 then they cannot enter the dressing room of another gender. I completely understand and agree with this rule however the pool does not provide adequate facilities for children who are too young to use their locker room on their own and who are with a parent of another gender. There are no changing areas in the lobby. There are only two family rooms in the lobby. These two rooms are pretty much always occupied by either older children, mothers with daughters (who theoretically should be using the ladies locker room), etc. My son and I have waited 20 minutes or longer for one of those while individuals leisurely shower and blow dry their hair. I think this issue could be very simply resolved if the pool management would post some guidelines for using the family rooms such as - please be considerate when others are waiting - if you are an individual or group of the same gender, use your locker room instead - keep in mind that mothers/sons and fathers/daughters whose children need assistance cannot use the locker rooms, so please give those groups priority on these rooms - do not reserve rooms I approached the front desk staff and the weekday manager with my concerns and I NEVER heard back. The front desk staff were pretty much insensitive and told me those rooms were really for ADA use. I also checked out the women's locker room and there is only one curtained changing area. There are several open changing area stalls and a group shower and exactly one curtained ADA changing area. The lack of privacy in the locker rooms may contribute to the demand for the family rooms. This could be addressed by adding curtains to the changing areas and in the shower areas - it is shame they didn't consider privacy during the renovation. I think it is ridiculous that the management will not make a simple change to clarify the use of the family rooms. If you are planning on taking your child to swim lessons who is 5 - 7 and you don't think they can use the locker room on their own or the lack of privacy is a concern then I suggest you look at another facility. read more

We take swim lessons here and I was surprised that there really aren't any family rooms to dress and undress, which is hard since I have little one's of both genders. The lessons are reasonably priced and the pool area is kept warm. They have a lot going on at once with swim team practice on one side and swim lessons on the other in every lane. It get's pretty crowded. read more

The new upgrades put this pool at one of the best in the area. The water is crystal clear, the swim deck is easy on your feet, and the shower facilities are a huge improvement. My only suggestions are to add a swim suit water extractor, a weight scale, and towel hooks to each of the shower rooms. Oh, and the staff are wonderful too! Rick West read more

I love this pool! I lap swim here a couple times a week and am so glad it's open again after renovations. It looks great and the locker room is so much better! They have family changing rooms now, private stalls for changing, and the whole place just feels fresh. The cost is really low for drop in swim and the monthly pass is an even better deal. When you get the swim pass you can also use the community center gym, so it's such a great bargain. read more

Our family frequents the pool mostly for high school swim meets. The pool has a good setup for multipurpose use, allowing public swim during swim meets. The pool itself is quite nice with six lanes, diving end, and separate pool area for lessons and exercise classes. Public seating is better than most pools, and natural lighting is a big plus for ambiance and photography. Limited parking is an issue at peak times. Facilities for swimmers are bare bones. Not particularly family friendly for families with younger kids. In my opinion Life Guarding standards are iffy and could be more disciplined, particularly during busy times. King County would do well to invest in this aging facility which is in extremely high demand and serves many local swim teams. It adds a lot to quality of life for families in King County and the Issaquah area. read more

Great results after the remodel. Much more room in the locker room and the family & ADA space is an asset. Pool deck is much nicer than the old pebble-like surface that hurt my feet. Paint inside and out is great, added gutter to the entrance so you don't get soaked leaving the building when it's raining. I wish they would change the schedule so the exercise classes would run from 9a-10am instead of 8-9am. The majority (if not all) the participants in the exercise classes are retired so they likely have a more flexible schedule than people still tied to a work schedule. It would be nice to free up a couple more lanes of lap lanes during that time period. Staff is friendly and helpful. Beautiful mosaic over the new open, inviting counter ~!! read more

I have been going to this pool for years, from the time my kids were infants to now when they are school age and teen. Every time we have been there it has been clean, well maintained and warm. The ph balance is correct so the place doesn't reek like chlorine, the lifeguards are diligent about checking the locker rooms frequently and cleaning so the toilets are flushed and there are no gross items on floors. The best time to come is during the week, during the daytime open swim as then it is rarely crowded and if you want to avoid crowds during the summer, you can call ahead and ask if any large group is scheduled that day and then you can avoid it. An older but well maintained facility with well trained and helpful staff. I recommend it to all my homeschool friends. read more

Fantastic! My husband and I took eight boys swimming last night for my son's 11th birthday party. Before they could go into the deep end to play on the diving board, they had to swim back and forth once across the pool. All of the boys easily passed on their first try, except one. He didn't pass on his second attempt, either. Or his third. Or fourth. But here's the thing: he kept on trying. And perhaps more importantly, so did the lifeguard. This lifeguard was amazing! Not only did he help this boy with his swim stroke, he also got him a drink of water when he was tired, found him some goggles to use, but most importantly, he never gave up on him. I don't know who was more excited when he finally passed the swim test, the lifeguard, all his friends, or me! The best part was that then all of the boys headed down together to jump off the diving board, and all because your amazing lifeguard took just a few extra minutes to help a boy in need. Way to go!
