My first time to try out a traditional barbershop in my hometown. I wanted to give it a 4.5 rating,…read morebut Yelp doesn't give the option to do so. Although the shop displayed excellence in their services from beginning to end, the place was too fresh for me to give it a perfect score since it just opened recently. This review will be more on the barber's part of the business since I was not able to use the nail salon yet. The shop opens at 1pm everyday and I arrived there at around 3pm on a Saturday without a reservation. There were people waiting in line, (as expected since it was a weekend) but the place did not make me feel bored or made me want to come back some other time since people that worked there or even the owner will get to you right away upon entering. Complimentary brewed coffee is offered for the people who wait for their turn and things to read are available beside soft seats you can snug in. The ambience was serene as the lights were easy on the eyes and the music is soft that it perfectly blends in the mutterings and little laughs from everyone. You can stay in the lounge part of the shop or if you're in a group, there is also a coffee area you can use while you wait. One thing exceptional about this place is that it also offers nail services for men and women done just at the other side of the mirror walls. This gives you the freedom to take your girl with you on your haircut trips so they won't have a reason not to give you time for yourself (or vice versa). The seats and equipment were appropriate to the traditional theme as well as the seats in the nail services side. Service prices are very reasonable, haircuts start from 165Php, which includes shampooing and a quick facial, and this is like half the price of the famous traditional barbers in Metro Manila. Parking wouldn't be much of a hassle since the building does have a space in front intended for customer's vehicles and can cater around 8-10 sedans/SUVs all at once. My overall experience with Belleza is positive and I will be coming back for their services once needed. I was fully satisfied for the price that I've paid for and will recommend this to relatives and friends. Given that the place is new, it does not mean that people who work here are inexperienced. They will give you a service that will compliment your style, or whichever you pick from the choices they will show you. From the 1920s Sicilian pompadour to the modern panache you want to get from David Beckham. If you intend to know more about this, I will be writing an article about traditional barbershops that I have had the chance to try out and will be including Belleza in it. The link will be posted in the comments once done. If anyone has any other questions about my experience in Belleza, leave a comment or send me a message at maobojano@gmail.com and I'll get back to you. You can also check their FB and IG pages for price-list of services. Links: FB: https://www.facebook.com/bellezzanailbarber/about/ IG: https://www.instagram.com/bellezzanailandbarber/

I couldn't believe. I thought it was hilarious that this was all happening at the same time and had my doubts. Was totally impressed with the service and quality of work. My haircut was def what I wanted, hands and feet in great manicured shape, all this for about 1100 pesos (about $22)!!! I was in and out in 1 hour, no lie. This is the most efficient groom service I've experienced ever, best grooming regimen in any barber or salon ever. They do shaves/massages the classic way too. You must come here to check it out. Verdict: Oh hell yes I'm coming back. Visits: 1 Tip: Cash only. This location is in the Mall of Asia, MOA. It gets super busy in here and there's a wait if you don't have an appt. While you do this, your girl/ significant other can go to I think there are 2 salons next door; she can take her pick. Tip your barber or manicurist 100 pesos, about $2 before you leave.

Some things will never change though: Titan Quezon City will always be my location of choice for basketball sneaker reservation pick-ups, and will always be my go-to barbershop. There's a reason why I've been a loyal customer for a handful of years now. I've always appreciated how the Titan "Empire" in general knows how to make such loyalty count. They happen to have some of the most passionate and approachable owners too. As Titan's tagline goes: "For the Love of the Game." Count on my main men and resident veteran barbers Ryan and Hermie to deliver awesome and quality haircuts, shaves, or both for decent rates. I love how I don't even have to say a word to either barber, yet they already know what I want and what to do. The level of comfort I have with this place is irreplaceable and priceless. It will only be a matter of time until this "Players Club" member drops by again for either a fresh cut or a hot sneaker drop (hot enough to burn another hole in my pocket).

It's a renowned basketball store that mainly sells amazing shoes, basketball jerseys, and other paraphernalia. What I come here for is their barber. I was in school and it was so hot that I decided to have my haircut. I mean it was that hot. It was near my school so I decided to get my hair cut during my 2 hour break. There was a bit of a queue so I had to wait for about half an hour or so. The barber was really nice. We had a five minute conversation on what haircut I wanted. I told him what I wanted and asked for suggestions and his input was really helpful. We eventually picked a hairstyle. He cut my hair to what I wanted. After the haircut, he rinsed my hair and shampooed it.There was a also a warm towel and a quick massage. It was really nice. Their barber is also a basketball fans so he occasionally asks me about basketball while cutting my hair, just to pass the time.

I'm good with a fast haircut that makes me look half-decent after all the hair has been brushed off my neck and my arms. I used to not care about what my hair looks like, and I styled it very minimally. That was all until I stepped into Tribal Cuts and had my first "slick cut" done. Slick cuts are what the guys at Tribal Cuts call the non-traditional, non-mainstream haircuts that people can get from their shop, which is located in the far back of the Tribal Store. It is easy to find: Just go to the end of the Pedro Gil Wing and look for the Shakeys. The Tribal Store (the shop that sells clothes and jeans with their famous tribal logo). Anyway, slick cuts are a nod to the old-school pompadours and fades that people used to get when pomades where still in style. Speaking of pomades, the guys here in Tribal Cuts know their stuff, and they recommended a few brands of locally made pomades that I could use. I decided to go for a classic brushed up pompadour, and my barber, Tim (who was still in training) was an excellent and skilled man. We talked about quite a lot of things because slick cuts normally take about an hour, since it requires a lot of scissorwork - they don't just clip you with their electric shears - they need to feather, gradually decrease the length of some spots and meticulously brush and comb your hair to see how it would look when it's styled. The boys at Tribal Cuts are part of the Slick Barbers collective, which aims to bring back the barbershop culture that has become quite obsolete because people are now always in a hurry. Schedule your appointments in advance because they are so in demand, they would usually have a cut-off at 2PM and cut for the rest of the afternoon.

Talas Manileño is one of the new breed of retro-hip barbershops emerging in Metro Manila, catering to men who want to add that little extra oomph to their everyday style. Talas' signature service is the "Manileño" which includes so much pampering for its price tag: haircut, shampoo, massage and a complementary drink (including coffee, whiskeys and local craft beers like the delicious Katipunan Craft Indio Pale Ale). Last time I went there I had their Manileño and a beard trim and went home a happy and dapper customer. This place reminds me of Makati's Felipe and Sons minus all of that place's bells and whistles. There is no haberdashery to be found here, just good old fashioned haircuts. And for that reason I think I kind of prefer this place. The interiors just have that extra little bit of style (Retro cool on the bottom floor, even more old school upstairs). Barbers that go the extra mile for their guests. Music that plays from a Crosley vinyl record player. All these little details that make the whole experience so much better.

This is why cheapskate me has been having haircuts in dodgy "parlors" here in the South. Well, so I tried getting a 50 peso haircut at another high-end looking salon that came with a bit of "ambience". Well it turned out horrible as the stylist couldn't even cut straight! Well, I obviously got what I paid for, I know! So, naturally I would find someone else who can fix my hair so I stopped by at Nilo's Cut Salon, who offers Php 100 haircuts for a trim with no shampoo (Php 180 with shampoo). Nilo has made a name for himself here in Better Living, and I believe he has a long list of 'suki's' already. I had no idea what the hair cut I wanted was called, so I fished out a photo from Pinterest (Haha!) and showed him a photo of this Parisian girl with a blunt cut. Nilo says "Ah, square bob". Okay, great! Nilo cuts hair effortlessly, and his hands are light and gentle, unlike some stylists whose hands and movements are a bit on the rough side. Nilo works through your hair with a feathery touch. Ten minutes later, my cut is done, and is the correct length I wanted! He also fixed my fringe as well (About my fringe, I only let stylists who I can trust to cut my fringe. Let's just say it's a precaution for ending up with another tragedy called 'baby bangs'). His assistant then proceeds to blow dry my hair after the cut, and after a few minutes, he goes "Para ka nang chandelier" (You look like a chandelier). "Chandelier? Huh...?" Then he says "The music video". If you know me, I am perpetually out of touch with pop music. If you're wondering what my haircut looked like after, search Chandelier by Sia on Youtube and spot the blonde Maddie Ziegler! So, except for the hair, I look nothing like that Parisian girl on the photo I brought, but I am very pleased with Nilo's quick service and expertise.
