My regular gastroenterologist referred me to Dr. Desai because I guess I have unusual anatomy. I went in for an ERCP but my regular gastroenterologist couldn't complete the surgery and called Dr. Desai to come in and he suggested he try and do the surgery again later that day. I loved that he sat and explained everything that happened and would happen to me and my husband and even allowed my husband back in the surgery room for a few minutes as he knew I was pretty nervous. My husband said while I was in recovery he came out and explained again what he did and actually gave him his direct number with any questions we might have later. Fast forward a couple weeks and I went back to see Dr. Desai as I still wasn't feeling well and he suggested another surgery but he explained everything and why I needed it and totally calmed my fears about everything. He has a wonderful bedside manner and really listens to you and answers your questions in a down to earth way. The office is convenient for me too, located on Blossom in the same building as my primary care doctor so that's awesome! I also adore his office staff! They are so friendly and they get stuff taken care of! I was going to a different gastroenterologist and I like him ok, but I'm not going back to see see anyone but Dr. Desai now!

He would not listen to me. I tried to explain to him that I was sent there on a referral for some very severe problems. I explained to him what I have been doing the past two weeks. He basically told me to go home and keep doing what I was doing that I would be OK. Are you kidding me? If you don't have Covid you don't exist in the world right now. I wouldn't recommend this physician to my dog.

This company has dropped the ball on several occasions when it has come to my care. I would never recommend them to anyone. If you need surgery he is hands down the best. He will explain everything to you and make you feel very comfortable about having surgery. I would recommend him to all my family and friends and also strangers he really knows what he's doing and is upon all the latest developments. What I mean is even though your insurance…read morelike mine does not require you to have any type of referrals to go to a doctor regardless, as long as they take your insurance that's all you need Utmb requires you must have a referral before going to the doctors and they try to brainwash you into saying no your insurance says you have to do this without even knowing who you are this happened to me before I even became a part of UTMB I was already being told I must have a referral before seeing the doctors. Maybe with other insurance companies it might be true but with my type of insurance all I have to do is pick up the phone and make an appointment regardless what network it's in Utmb HCA or any others . Please be careful when someone tells you this that you have to have a referral. Check your insurance. . Don't be held hostage. You may find better doctors outside the Utmb net work. Even when I stayed in the hospital, it was not that great. They have gone downhill when I refer you to Utmb sure it's a hospital, but check your resources and check ahead of time before you have an emergency, but will be the best hospital for you with your insurance. I would also refer you to Clear Lake. They have really come up in the last five or more years. I go where your heart lead you don't stay at hostage someplace because they say you have to. Something telling you somethings off get a second opinion from a complete different hospital system physicians hospital are also good if that's near you. St. Luke's is excellent there are so many good hospitals out there but your gut is telling you to search and somethings up do yourself a favor and a peace of mind look elsewhere just for confirmation I did, and I don't regret it. I'm FYI if you are going to stay at Utmb go to the lake city location it's a newer hospital food used to be good but it's gone downhill. If you're visiting a patient, please bring your food in to the hospital. Don't try to buy from the hospital. Their food is not that great in the cafeteria and good luck trying to hit the hours of the coffee shop. Utmb for me personally, I feel they have a lot of room for improve. That's me everybody has their own opinions and that's all mine is Their parking is a total nightmare even with the garage the other day it was packed full all the way to the top parking lot outside the garage. It's impossible to find a parking spot. There is not enough handicaps parkings. On the bright side, they have an excellent my chart while I was sitting in the doctors office I received my results. They are fast and quick I hope and pray that they're accurate and not just built on speed.. I give them a three out of five stars

I decided to walk out after 40 mins and Dr. Wong saw me walking out and asked if I was leaving and I said yes, I have been waiting for over half an hour and instead of issuing an apology or explanation he instead said "We can do it now". I'm normally a patient person but if you can't see me at the time YOU scheduled to see me and not 40 minutes later then I will find a Dr. elsewhere, my time is valuable too.
