Between the lines of first day back and traffic around to school, I was 12 minutes late for my appointment. They promptly told me they wanted to reschedule. I was only there for prescription refills. It would have been a "sit in the office, small talk for a few minutes" apointment... and "here's your prescription refills". I'm on blood pressure medication and just need a refill and they don't care because I didn't call while I was driving through school zones to get to the doctors office. I have a job and kids and they have no problem making me wait for 10 to 15 minutes, but heaven forbid they wait for you for a few minutes. I'll be finding a new doctor that cares.

And I should've checked with Yelp instead of just relying on Google reviews. Even if I'm the 3rd reviewer on here, I should've just paid attention to the first two. Lesson learned!!! First off, the front desk lady seriously needs an attitude adjustment! This place needs people who are better communicators on the phone. On the day of my appointment, I had informed them while I sat in my car just across their door (filling up their online forms), that I have my kid with me. I don't have a sitter so he will need to come in. The lady, I suppose the same one who booked my appointment, never said anything about it. It took me a while to fill in the forms and as soon as I'm done, I called them back again. Front desk lady said they'll call when the nurse is ready. A few minutes and I get a text. I walked in the front door with my son (masks on) and I was greeted by this nurse who is NOT wearing a mask. Before I can go in, she says "I'm sorry, for safety reasons, your kid is not allowed inside". The front desk lady, also NOT wearing a mask, echoed what she said. I told her, I had mentioned on the phone that I'm bringing in my son because I don't have a sitter and she never said anything! I kid you not, I was fuming right on the get go! I told them to cancel my appointment then and I stormed back in my car. Then I realized, I haven't made my point just yet. So, I walked back up to the front door, opened it and pointed at the front desk lady and said "Oh, by the way, YOU'RE NOT WEARING A MASK EITHER!" As a scientist that doesn't believe in the efficacy of masks, I wear them out of respect. BUT, this business just showed me how utterly HYPOCRITICAL they are!!

Having recently registered as a patient at Medic Lane, I called the office and got a recording that said office hours on Saturday were 8AM-12Noon. Yet no one picked up at 8:05, 8:10, or even 8:20. I finally called the "after hours" number and got a live operator at an answering service, who said she'd page the doctor on call. Around 8:40 I got a call from Dr. Dewitt, who said he could see me at 10 AM. When I arrived, I asked the receptionist, Christine, why no one had answered the phone earlier. "We don't open till 9:00 on Saturdays," she said. I informed her that the office voicemail said 8 to Noon. "It's 9:00!" she replied. I said, "Well, you might want to change the recording then, because it says 8:00." "It's 9:00! Jesus Christ!" she shouted at me. That's a direct quote, believe it or not; I could hardly believe my ears! I'd been speaking to her calmly and in a normal tone of voice, and here she was, literally yelling and cursing at me for no reason! About that time the office manager came over to see what the commotion was about, and Christine said I was giving her a hard time. Then the manager started berating me for having "a bad attitude!" I can assure you, if I hadn't been in such terrible pain, I would have told them both off and walked out. But I really needed a doctor, so I stayed. When Dr. Dewitt saw me, I mentioned in passing that I'd had pharyngitis twice before and that antibiotics had cured it. Without performing any tests, he wrote a prescription for antibiotics and a mild pain killer and sent me on my way. My condition improved, but when I finished the course of antibiotics 10 days later, the sore throat came back with a vengeance. After 14 days it was as bad or worse than before. I did some online research and learned that the two primary causes of pharyngitis are bacterial (strep throat) and viral. If it's viral, antibiotics don't work. I returned to Medic Lane and saw another doctor, who, at my request, swabbed my throat and ran a test. It confirmed that my condition was indeed viral. That necessarily means that Dr. Dewitt committed medical malpractice on me that day! There's no way to sugarcoat it. He undeniably prescribed unneeded medication without confirming whether it was indicated, and his negligence prolonged the healing of my sore throat for two full weeks. It cleared up on its own after another 12 days, which it would've done originally if the antibiotics hadn't interfered with the natural healing process. In retrospect, I'm not sure which makes me angrier: Dr. Dewitt's carelessness or the rudeness and abuse I suffered at the hands of the Medic Lane staff. But it goes without saying, I never went back. My advice: avoid this place like the plague! Trust me, you can do better.

Dr. Vasquez took excellent care of her while she was having some serious heart episodes. It was late Sunday Easter afternoon when she was discharged along with a script that had to be filled before 9am Monday. I took her home and immediately went to Walmart pharmacy. When the script was ready I was shockingly told it would cost $389 for a month's supply. $389!!!!! She had a generic version for $10 just a year ago!!!! The Pharmacist could not give an alternative for some reason even though Dr. Vasquez wrote that. Anyway my wife put a page in for Dr. Vasquez and he called her back. Late Easter Sunday evening. He was upset with the Pharmacist and asked my to come to his office by 9 the next day. He had left 2 months of the medication for my wife for FREE! Yup, he is now my wife's new cardiologist.

I have been to his office twice in the last month and while he is never there since he's primarily at the hospital, his PA Joyce is very kind and she takes good care of their patients. When I was in the hospital, Dr. Haddad was very good about taking the time to explain things to me and when I had to go back to the hospital for an Endoscopy, Dr. Haddad took great care of me during my procedure. I mean, I was unconscious during all of it, but it seemed to go well. If you need to see a gastroenterologist, I would highly recommend Dr. Haddad's office.
