Any referral I've asked for, she has told me I need to figure that out with my insurance, myself. She breaks everything possible into multiple visits so that billing happens as much as possible. For my last appointment, I had a urinalysis that she admitted she never reviewed, even though it was a severe issue that needed immediate care. I had to make a new appointment a week later to review those results because I still wasn't feeling well. When I told her it was unacceptable that she never reviewed my results, she said "it's Monday" and "you're not my only patient", I said it's been a week and that's a terrible way to treat a patient. She back tracked immediately and said she did review my results and never followed up because she didn't need to. She then began being very condescending to me and even told me she doesn't need to mother me or check back in (and denied telling me to call her if I needed a medication change, as my infection was a tricky one to treat). I again, told her this is very condescending as I was just following exactly what she told me to do. She actually hung up on me during this telehealth video call. She is truly the only PCP that was available when I moved here and it is clear why. The office itself is so gross and creepy. She's cared a lot more about my outfits I wore to my appointments, than my family's colorful cancer history! This was my final straw after her lack of care for 2 years, so this is probably a blessing in disguise for me!

I will not be taken advantage of and will always stand up for myself and the red flags this place was waving did not fly with me. 1) They want you to sign a document stating that they can charge you a day before a visit (they say it is for telehealth only but the "legal document" does not specify telehealth). 2) Go to pay your copay $1, but surprise there is a $10 minimum charge and I never carry cash. Not anywhere in their signage or documents does it go over a minimum. The old Indian man at the front office tried to tell me I can't go anywhere like a store or restaurant and pay less than $10....WRONG!! I already tried to leave the office because they couldn't conduct business properly and as I'm walking out they called me back to the desk and try to explain more, as I'm saying that they can not charge me more than the $1 copay the office man said that I would not be a good fit for the office...DUH!!! I was already on my way out the door. 3) The office is disgusting, I have to unfortunately go where my insurance is covered and I made a poor choice going here. I can't believe this place is still in business. It's so unfortunate for those who don't have access to better care than this. I thought I liked the Dr. and Nurse Ann, but the front desk staff and their policy is atrocious.

It's been almost 4 months. I should have written this review earlier, but life happens. Plus, I still am having a hard time believing the pain that I lived with for 15 yrs. is truly gone. No more pain! I feel wonderful! Yes, I am still recovering, bones are healing, but I feel so good that I must remind myself not to push too hard. I spent one night in hospital after surgery. After I left Sarasota Memorial, I took no pain medicines. Only took an occasional at bedtime over the counter Tylenol. For what I would call a little discomfort not pain. I felt great, was able to move around, walk around and even had a good time watching the Super Bowl, days after. After my 3-week visit I was able to drive. After a month, I travelled by jet to visit family. I have walked 23K steps in Washington DC, ridden trains, and taken long bicycle rides again in D.C. Before I picked Dr. Fine, every medical doctor strongly recommended Dr. Fine. My husband and I did the research and agreed he was the BEST NEUROSURGEN for this procedure. However, she has had episodes where she will not have a bowel movement for anywhere between 6-11 (longest happened once only). She became a new patient, switching from her former pediatrician right before the 11 days between bowl movements occurred. My daughter called the office for medical direction and Dr. Flagel wasted no time, and we were told to go to Sarasota Memorial for an abdominal scan (to diagnose or rule out a blockage or intestinal defect,which would require surgical intervention). Halfway to the hospital my granddaughter finally had a bowel movement, and after informing Dr. Flagel, the ER trip wasn't necessary. As her grandma, I have called the office for consult concerning minor issues and every time I've called the staff has been genuinely caring, kind, and helpful. I wouldn't hesitate recommending Dr. Flagel to anyone who is looking for a pediatrician who is completely competent, genuinely baby/child oriented and provides first rate care to her patients as well as supportive and compassionate assistance to parents and caregivers. She has the perfect personality to provide healthcare to children, and she is great at easing the fears of children in order to complete examinations which are done gently and completely. Dr. Susan Flagel's quality care is greatly appreciated and highly respected and she a pediatrician, with qualities and knowledge that is very hard to find!
