We saw Dr Withers to have some stitches removed from my daughter's chin. The doctor was very gentle, kind, and patient, which we really appreciated. She explained everything she was doing and showed concern whether my daughter was in pain or anxious about what was going on. A couple of the stitches were a little healed over, but she took her time and again was very gentle in the process. It all went well/smooth, and we wouldn't hesitate to come back again. read more

Dr. Withers has good attention to detail. She assess some of my conditions for possible thyroid problem but was able to observed an unstated one: my thinning hair. I appreciate her no-fluff. She straight with you if you are straight with her. I read through other reviews that have complaints: she does have that vibe that she had traditional Chinese disciplinarian childhood when things in China was rough, much like my parents haha. Bad! 1. Unwilling to explain. I went to her office to get my annual check, came back with a few abnormal values on my results. I called her back immediately and asked her how severe my results were and how urgent I needed to take care of- instead of answering my questions, all she told me was " idk, set up a follow-up exam, thank you, bye" and hang up on me. 2. Wrong charge After a few weeks of my annual check, I received a bill from my insurance company and the charge looked wrong. I called my insurance company and they told me the fee is covered by my insurance and I should not get charged; but the doctor put the wrong code, and I needed to tell the doctor to change the code. I called the doctor and explained that she put the wrong code, she got mad at me and insisted that the charge is so miscellaneous and I should just pay! read more

if i could give a no star rating that would be my choice but yelp does not allow it. she is the most terrible doctor ever! rude and dismissive. i went to her for hormone replacement therapy for menopausal symptoms. she was reluctant to treat me ever though my symptoms were severe and affecting my quality of life significantly. she finally gave me a 30 day supply. when i requested a refill because i was responding well to the medication she demanding that i come in every month in order to get a refill. i have a full time job that i have to commute 3 hours every day and my schedule can not permit a doctors appointment every month for a refill of my rx. it is clear she is just trying to get as many appointments as possible to bill the insurance company. i have never had a doctor in my 50 years of life that require me to come into their office every month for a refill. it is ridiculous and she is so rude and argumentative and has the worst bedside manner. stay away!! read more

Terrible doctor visit experience. Mis-diagnoise and no respect to insurance. I had to do a body exam for the company requirement so I went to her office for the second time, she ordered a blood test for me and I told her that I could only go to a place that accepts my insurance, otherwise,​ I wouldn't be able to pay it. She then made a conclusion after my exam saying I am a debate, which I checked again recently to show that was not true. She asked me to visit her office again for doing nothing, just chatted for about 20 mins. Soon I received a huge bill from her which I was not expected for doctor office visit fee. I called Dr. Withers and trying to see if I can have other payment options, she immediately refused and just want to get the full payment right away. I have prime Cigna insurance. It does not sound like a reasonable charge for a doctor visit. Then I decided to visit her at 6/4 Monday afternoon to communicate in person. I waited in front of her office for almost an hour. Did not see her even her schedule said so. I had to move away from NorCal, soon, without communication, she sent a letter to threaten me about the report to my credit and send me to the ​collection company. I also really don't recommend her. If you are looking for a reliable doctor, I urge you not to go there. To be a doctor, not to be a business money hunter. You are losing your patient for poor communication​ and no grace. read more

I have never had such a bad experience at a doctor office. I got my armpit swollen so I went to her office for the first time, she ordered an Ultrasound for me and she was nice helping me make an appointment at a hospital and I told her that I could only go to a place that accepts my insurance, otherwise I wouldn't be able to pay it. However I received a huge bill from the hospital so I called Dr. Withers to see if she can help me, I tried to explain the situation, she became immediately very offensive and shouted at me saying it was none of her business and she even didn't give me a chance to finish my talk and she just kept shouting and hanged up the phone. I have lived in different countries in Asia and Europe, but never met a doctor like her. I don't understand why she can't just act as a professional and talk calmly to her patients instead of being so rude. It was the first time a "professional" hanged up the phone on me like that. I really don't recommend her. If you are looking for a reliable doctor, I urge you not to go there. read more

Dr Withers seems to specialize in immigration forms (most patients seemed to be seeing her for this reason the 2 times I was there) and overall she gets things done. You can get tested for drugs in the urine + prior immunizations from blood and get new shots at her office, which is all that is needed to complete the immigration. The reason I know about other patients' visit is that most conversations take place in public, while standing in front of the reception desk, with you dragging out your medical history in front of 5 other patients in the tiny waiting room. About the reception - Dr. Withers serves as her own receptionist and nurse - basically does everything by herself which slows things down and means that frequently multiple people are being helped at once. When you make it to the room, it's very small and not particularly nice. Finally, both times I was there, Dr Withers claimed to be too busy to look into another medical issue (unrelated to immigration) I wanted to consult her about. To be clear, these spartan conditions don't come with a discount though - the rate for a single immigration form seems to be around $210. Overall, none of these things are deal breakers and seeing her may still be worth if you live very close to her office like I do. However, be aware that this is more similar to a developing world practice than to what many people may be accustomed to in California. read more

I saw Dr. Withers from 2015 to 2018. At first I found her to be a great doctor very kind and caring. She listened well and didn't make me feel rushed. In 2018 when I started to get a cold sore, I called Dr. Withers to fill a prescription that I've had for 20 years and she refused because I was a few months overdue for my annual visit. She would not fill the prescription until I came in for a visit. Anyone who has dealt with cold sores knows that medication to prevent them is time sensitive (max 72 hours, best if immediate) and I felt this was a cruel way to handle the situation. She told me I was trying to abuse the medicine that I was asking for, said that she would make an exception and that she called it in. When I went to the pharmacy it had not been called in. Ultimately I had to call my doctor back in Boston to get the prescription: despite having moved away, I had no issue there. Since then I have not gone back to Dr. Withers because I don't trust that she has my health at interest unless she's gotten her money. read more

I Visited Dr June Withers for a cough. She is a great doctor, takes care of her patience, but the experience of payment is horrible. First of all, in the valley, we usually let our "Bluecross" Premera pay for everything health related. Using our HSA Visa account. I told her at the beginning of the visit about the insurance details. I work for a top high tech company that takes care of all the claims for me. She said this: "You have to pay cash first and they will charge the insurance later on. When a payment comes from the insurane they will reimburse me the cost." I was like this seems sketchy, and told her before she did a checkup on me, that I am paying by insurance, she agreed and after the checkup completed she said: "Sorry I have to pay $130 now on the spot" Instead of causing problems I hand over my HSA to pay for it. She said she wants a normal credit card, I am like this is health credit card, she tried it again and charged me 3% transaction fee ... Couple of months passed, and she called me and said I owe her 40$ cause the insurance company didn't pay her. I checked my portal to see if she charged my insurance company, and she definitely didn't. After arguing back and forward, she said she made a mistake and messed up the application. So she resubmitted the application and charged my insurance $170, I was amazed because I don't know how the price increased from 130 to 170? Is she taking extra money from my insurance company? So I refused to pay that much. read more

I needed something quick. I yelped the closest Dr. to me and found myself at Dr. Withers' within the week. The short amount of time it took to get an appointment might be the only positive point to my review. I have read the other reviews and it's odd...I agree mostly with what's been said but find some of these reasons to be the very reasons I will not be returning. "She's great if you need an appointment quickly for something common." I find this very true. So true that it almost makes me wish I had referred to my Kaiser Handbook instead of taking the time/money to visit the Dr's office. "She's not as fancy as other docs." & "seemed disorganized". Very true again, Connie L. Her office looked really cluttered to me, and as I waited for my appointment I began wondering what I got myself into. In retrospect, it's my health we're talking about here. I want something aesthetically clean, I want superior organization, I want a large hospital...I want fancy. "They only take cash or check" True again. What modern-day business in MOUNTAIN VIEW doesn't accept major credit cards?! If the tacqueria down the street can do it, Dr. Withers should too. They state that they take lunch from 12:30 to 1:30. I dropped by on my lunch hour at 1:35 but they had not yet returned. I found this very annoying. And finally, I find the receptionist completely inept. Not only did I overhear Dr. Withers double checking if she knew what "copay" meant, but she took an extra hour of my time on the phone with Aetna when I wanted a reason for the amount I was being charged. It later turned out that she overcharged. This all wouldn't have been as annoying if she smiled or at least pretended to be friendly...but I guess I can only get that at a "fancy" office. read more

The doctor office is one of the worst I have visited: No nurse or assistant but Only receptionist. Therefore, the doctor making my wait time for a blood draw extra long. While I was waiting, heard the doctor scolding the receptionist for not doing a good job, making u feel really uncomfortable. Can't wait to get out the office after a quick conversation. Waited for 2 weeks for the lab result, only found out that the doctor went on vacation and will be back in 2 weeks, and office closed... No plan to go back again!! read more

As someone who used to work for a Family Physician Association, I know that it's difficult for physicians to be able to give the time to really have an interactive, personalized session with patients. (It's the insurance issue--not what they want). That said, Dr. Withers has set up her practice so that the style is very personalized. Her office doesn't seem as fancy aesthetically as many other physician offices in the U.S., but don't let that throw you off -- her care is top notch! She is very attentive, thorough and, like Marie (other yelper) said, takes time to explain things. She's Chinese so is fluent in Mandarin, but her English is also perfect. She practices both Western style and Eastern style medicine -- which is a great combination, as well. I pay out of pocket for my care. Her visits are affordable and she does the best she can to accomodate me given that I don't have full blown insurance (tries to find cheaper meds, etc.). This is the sort of care that old school physicians were able to give in the U.S. before the onset of this insurance craziness -- it's been a real treat to get this kind of care. read more

Ugh. I came here for two appointments for a shot. Pretty simple. I have major insurance and I've done this before so I know how much my co-pay and the extra payments should be. This is where it gets shady, almost two months after my appointment I keep getting bills for the same amount I paid? Which I have receipts and a cancelled Wells Fargo check for. So of course I'm livid. I'm not a deadbeat who doesn't pay her medical bills. What's the problem? The staff. Everyone has already said it, but just go to another place. Save yourself the trouble of having to argue about stuff that should be made easy. I don't care how nice the doctor is, the operation she has going on is shabbily run and I will make sure I let everyone know NOT to come here. 2 appointments just to get a shot and 2 months later I'm still dealing with the aftermath of paying money I ALREADY !(&@*^&!^& PAID. Dr. WIthers is nice. She's great if you need an appointment quickly for something common. But just like Karen said, she's not as "fancy" as other docs. I would have loved to know this beforehand as she has seemed disorganized in my limited experience (two visits). I went to see her because of the two very positive reviews here and because I'm intrigued by the possibility of mixing Eastern/Western medical treatment approaches. But I am thinking I need to switch doctors. She rushed me through my first appointment (she was 45 min late and had another patient after me) which should have been an in-depth medical history as I had explained that I was looking for a primary care doc. On my second appointment, she had no idea why I was there even though I had called and talked to her personally to schedule it last week (I haven't seen/talked to a receptionist) and initially asked me to fill in a new patient form again. There was also a vial of drawn blood sitting on the receptionist counter. Odd. If this were a restaurant, there would be fewer stars, but I don't want her to lose business because of me. I wrote this so you would know what to expect when you go in. So, my recommendation is to see her if you are looking for a quick fix and/or don't have insurance. I'm sure her medical advice is sound as what she told me is exactly what my previous docs (and the web) have said. She does give pretty good explanations. Of course, it's up to you to do your homework and ask the right questions. As for me, I've come to realize I really do need the uberclean white walled doctor's office with the receptionist and nurses ushering you in. read more

I have yet to find a doctor before or since Dr. Withers that is the best combination of everything you'd hope for in a doctor. SHE is one of the biggest reasons I miss the Bay Area. Ever feel like your doctor doesn't take the time to really listen to you? Ever feel like you are rushed in and out and/or dismissed by your doctor? Ever wonder what it's like to have a doctor that blends western and Chinese medicine in her treatment of what ails you? If you are tired of doctors who lack compassion, don't take time to listen to you fully and are booked up for weeks/months and can't see you for an urgent issue... Dr. Withers is the answer! Dr. Withers is kind, friendly and will always make time to see you within a day or two if you urgently need to see her. She will even make Saturday appointments if necessary!! Sometimes she runs a little late with her appointments but rest assured you will always be given the time you need too! I love that she will draw blood for tests in-house to save you a trip to the lab! Not only that, but she draws the blood herself-- when's the last time your doctor drew your blood his/herself? Though many of her patients are elderly and Chinese, she also sees patients of all backgrounds and ages and is always ready with a smile for you :) She was my saving grace when I developed Carpal Tunnel Syndrome a few years ago and even did physical therapy for me herself. Dr. June Withers is super friendly and helpful! I do enjoy coming to her for my medical needs. I actually found her on yelp and was very pleased to see so many people with such a positive reviews, but what many of them did leave out is the receptionist is very unorganized, rude, and unwelcoming. I also wanted to miss my appointment because she was extremely rude on the phone. It is though she is trying to rush me off the phone because she is busy. Every time i have called she has ignored the fact that i am a patient that wants to continue seeing Dr. Withers and gives me terrible patient service. Therefore, i give the office a 3 out of 5. If i was rating Dr. Withers alone i would def give her a 5 out of 5 . Dr. Withers takes the time to listen to my problems and tries very hard to accommodate whatever needs i request. We needed to get a medical check-up and vaccinations as part of the Green Card application procedures and Dr Withers came up as one of USCIS' recommended practitioners based in Mountain View. She's very efficient, gets you in and out of her clinic in 30 minutes even if you've got 5 vaccinations lined up and a full-body check to do. While this is an excellent reflection of her productivity, it also means that her 'bedside manner' isn't particularly soft and soothing. She's chatty and informative enough to get you through the ordeal of being a pincushion, but you're not going to start sharing secrets about the best eating places in the area, etc. As a Chinese, I'm pretty used to bad, silent service anyway....as long as the job's done and I'm still in one piece, I don't really care. Despite this, our experience with her clinic had two major downsides. (1) Her receptionist/admin assistant takes "bad service" to a whole new level. Grouchy, gruff and curt any time of the day, you always feel as if she's got better things to do than to answer your questions or confirm your appointments. It's quite a shock the first couple of times but I guess it's about getting used to that and lowering one's expectations. (2) We paid for our medicals and vaccinations in full and were told that the clinic would process our insurance claims for these treatments. All well and good. A few weeks later, we get a notice from Aetna saying that they'd cover most of the cost of treatment, meaning that we're entitled to a pretty hefty refund out of the amount we paid, which has to come from Dr Withers. It's been more than a month since we followed up with her on this and there's no refund in sight. At each of the 3 conversations I've had with Dr Withers about this, I get a "we haven't had time to follow-up on this" or "we haven't received anything" and then a "why don't you give me sometime to check up on this and call me back?" Which, of course, I do, and the cycle repeats. Moral of the story, come here only if it's convenient or if you don't care about claiming for your medical treatments. read more

Agree with most reviews here Minus: Receptionist is not friendly or helpful but well I wasn't there to see her. No credit card accepted which means you must bring enough cash. Plus: Dr. Withers herself is very friendly and honest. I went there for a treatment not covered by my insurance and her fees are very affordable with good result, she gave detailed information about my treatment and patient with all my questions. So in my case I will come back again it's hard to find an honest doctor nowadays. Dr. Withers is very disrespectful! I tired having a conversation with her and unfortunately I kept having her repeat herself a few times because I couldn't understand what she was saying. She gets very offensive and has no patients as she shouted at me saying "why you make me repeat myself? If you don't understand I do not want to talk to you" she did not even didn't give me a chance to finish talking. She kept yelling at me and proceed to hang up the phone. I don't understand why this so called "Professional" can't just be a true professional and talk like a normal individual. This woman is beyond RUDE! I went to this 'pain management' specialist with a well-documented 13 year history of chronic, severe back pain. I have tried everything under the sun to treat my back pain. Most recently, for the past 2 years I have been in intensive physical therapy which has helped my problem a great deal, but I still suffer from periodic debilitating flare-ups that result in pain severe enough to prevent me from walking, let alone going to work or performing normal activities. I spoke with Dr. Withers extensively about my history, and provided her with all the documentation from other practitioners I have seen over the years - chiropractors, internal medicine doctors, and orthopedic surgeons I have consulted with. Dr. Withers acknowledged that I was doing everything right in terms of seeking treatment, and that it is terrible that I live with this kind of pain at my age, but that she can't prescribe anything because she 'doesn't want to get in trouble'. Huh? I realize that the government has placed ridiculous (and inexcusable) restrictions on the prescription of opiate pain medications, but ultimately it is still up to the physician to determine what is best for their individual patient, and prescribe accordingly. Dr. Withers openly acknowledged that my condition should be treated with strong pain medication, but chose not to prescribe it because she does not want to be scrutinized by the government powers that be. This is in direct violation of her responsibilities, and the Hippocratic Oath she took as a physician. As a pain management doctor, Dr. Withers has a professional and ethical obligation to prescribe pain medication to those who legitimately need it. That is her job, that is what people come to her for. If she does not want to fulfill this obligation, she does not belong in her field, and should not advertise herself as a pain management specialist. For people looking for a competent pain management specialist, please save yourself a lot of time and aggravation, and go elsewhere. Chronic pain is horrible enough, the only thing worse is going to a supposed specialist in the field that will not do their job and help. read more

The office is in bad shape. She is by far the worst Doctor I have ever came across. My husband had an injury and she made no effort to get to the root of the problem, basically told him to lessen his activities. Few months later The problem got worse. I called to try to schedule a scan but she was extremely rude and didn't want to speak to me. I've never been treated this way by a doctor. She is completely unprofessional. Had some problem, and want to see doc quick, she has time slot open right next day. That explains something actually. All other docs I called don't have opens in at least one week's time. So, I went to the office next day. When I went into the office.. I started to wonder if I made a wrong choice. the office looks very unorganized, outdated, clustered. Then they couldn't find my appointment, but the doc said it is ok she can see me. The receptionist started calling my insurance company ON SPEAKER, there is one more patient waiting in the room, so I am sure she heard everything about me.... I wasn't very happy with that Then, finally, I got to see the doc... she told me it shouldn't be any big problem. But exactly what went wrong, I don't think she has any idea either. I asked her if I need an X-ray, she said not really, and ask me to do some therapy. She was patient, so I wasn't that unhappy by the end. But I have to say all the time I was there, there was only two other patients in the office, I just don't see them VERY BUSY. Funny thing happened next Monday, I still thought I need an X-ray, so I called her office, hoping she can write me an X-ray quickly. I told the receptionist that I just want to talk to the doc quickly and see if I can get an X-ray.. the lady kept telling me that the doc is very busy and asking me to make appointment with doc again. I asked her why I want to go to the office twice for the same thing??? I'd rather go do the x-ray , then see her again! She started giving me attitude saying that the doc is very busy and cann't talk to me. So I said when she is free, can you let her call me back quickly? And if she thinks I need to go again, I will go. The receptionist finally let me hold on. In 20 sec, the doc was on the phone, with an ATTIITUDE, SAYING: WHAT IS UR PROBLEM, I AM VERY BUSY. She quickly told me that she already explained everything very clearly to me last week and I can come to pick up the x-ray prescription if I want. Then she HANG UP ON ME. I guess they just want to make more money by asking me to go there twice. Glad I insisted talking to her first, and didn't waste my money by going to the office again. Both of my daughters have seen Dr Withers. Her office is small but we moved from Alaska and are very comfortable in the setting. Dr Withers has been very thorough, sends prescriptions and referrals promptly and is has taken her time to understand issues. It is obvious that English is her second language but we listen carefully and have had no problems communicating as other patients have mentioned. She has called each of my daughters personally to follow up with them and I find that very personable and wonderful. We are very thankful to have found Dr Withers and will continue to see her! read more

I've never written a review before but this one really called for it. Do not come close to this place. What a horrible experience! The doctor has the worst manners you can imagine for a doctor. The's rude and impatient and always looks harried since there's no nurse to assist so you're never getting her full attention. She has the worst bedside manner. She doesn't listen well, when you ask a question you get a seemingly angry answer and all you wish to do is get the hell out as fast as possible. The doctor had to draw blood for a blood test and since she was apparently in a hurry she bruised my arm. I've never been so black and blue. There's only one receptionist and she's always doing ten things at the same time so you get her attention on and off and it takes forever to get something done. WOW. Dr. Withers was GREAT. She took the time to listen to my problem, and then took the time to explain things to me--she even took out an anatomy book and showed me pictures of where my problems were stemming from. She really does mix East/West medicine--for my treatment, she recommended a specific otc medicine, and also suggested I do therapy w/her office. i can tell she's not all about the money. . she called my insurance to make sure i was covered, and pretty much negotiated a price with me--i think she knew i couldn't afford much! anyway, i enjoyed the therapy, and felt 10 times better after i left. She is definitely sweet friendly and knows the immigration evaluation process in and out. However, I was not happy with the evaluation she filled out for me. I just started doing reviews on Yelp. This is about an experience I had two years ago. I made an appointment because I had the worst sore throat of my life -- puss covered, bloody tonsils. Dr. Withers prescribed antibiotics. When days later, they weren't helping at all and things were getting worse, I finally went to the PAMF, where they correctly - and instantly - told me I had mono. This, of course, means that the antibiotics weren't doing any good, and neither did my visit with Dr. Winters. read more

Verry bad service for a doctor when you are more worried about what you are going to get paid and what coverage the patient has 75% of the visit was going in and out checking if this or that is coverd and 25% with the patient if you got into being a doctor for $$$$$$ then go work in Beverly Hills normal patient need doctors that are not just about MONEY. read more

Ditto all the comments about lousy billing services and poor medical care. Went in for chronic insomnia after moving to the area, a problem which I'd been treated for years on and off and know all the recommendations for - I'm a physician myself but obviously can't prescribe for myself. She tried to give me VALIUM - a benzodiazepin which is addictive and can create dependency, and the WORSE drug you can give a chronic insomniac. Repeatedly told her I DID NOT want a benzo. She looked thru her handheld drug resource and showed me the generic name of a drug name I'd never seen - figured it was either old school or a new one I hadn't seen before. The drug's common name turned out to be HALCION - which is so ancient no one uses it any more and that is why I didn't know the generic name.(think back to 50's housewives drugging themselves to get through their shitty days) ALSO a benzo. WTF?? As said before, NO CREDIT CARDS which I was prepared for and wrote a check for the COMPLETE amount I'd been quoted for the appointment, I hadn't met my deductible on insurance yet. MONTHS later got a letter from my insurance saying they'd been billed for a cost DOUBLE what I already paid, it was a covered service but the cost was more than they allotted for that service - so insurance paid Withers MORE THAN WHAT I HAD ALREADY PAID. THEN I got a letter from Withers (again, months after the visit) saying some bologna about since I hadn't met my deductible I still had another fee to pay the clinic. So now they are expecting THREE SEPARATE PAYMENTS for a made up cost of service. BTW - this happens to be ILLEGAL and FRAUD, so don't fall for it and FIGHT any overbilling if you mistakenly go to this weak old school physician who should be brought up on charges.
