The job was booked with a two hour window starting at 2:00 pm today. At 2:21 pm, got a call from the truck saying they'd be here in 10 minutes. Then, 10 minutes later, they were here. The job was to remove a Tempur-Pedic Mattress (weigh 150 lbs) and the two box springs that supported it. Art and Joseph were both excellent! Fast, courteous, and careful. Because of illness in the house, both put on face masks and shoe covers on their way in. This company doesn't show up when you schedule. They give a two hour window for them to arrive, and they don't show up nor call you if there is an issue. They also don't answer their phones when you call them to get any answers. It's 800 number which is strange. I ended up having to get a uhaul and do it myself. read more

Saturday arrives and I get a call from the guys at 9.30am, asking if I want to keep my appointed time or they could come earlier. The 2 gentlemen arrived and got to work estimating the cost based on volume etc. We were VERY impressed by how professional and nice these guys were. The estimate came in under what I had planned, and they had the truck loaded and done within 30 minutes!. Scheduled for yesterday. No call or knock at door. Called at 440. They say they are on the way and will call. No call. I call back around 510 and they say everyone went home for the day. Rescheduled for the next day and requested a call prior to make it a no contact pick up so everything can be outside in time for them. Again, no call prior to arrival. Get a knock on the door and it's them so now they had to wait at my door while I dragged the mattress out. Was also told I wouldn't have to sign anything. Was required to sign for pick up. All of that is the opposite of no contact pick up. Two stars because I'm so happy the mattress is finally gone. read more

I had high hopes for Junk King Monterey given the excellent reviews. The workers did an excellent job, were very efficient and polite and I was very happy with their work. The issue is that I had gotten an onsite estimate 2 weeks prior to the actual job. The owner, Mario Guzman, telephoned me at 7:30am the morning of the job and told me the workers could not take the glass items (vases, glasses, plates), which was 50% of the job (7 loads), because he was concerned about their safety and broken glass. Mario should have given me notice days before - not the morning of the job. He also told me his workers would not be there until 9:30am as they had to drop the weekend's load at the dump and the dump didn't open until 9am. Again, he could have told me the day before - I had gotten up at 5am the morning of the job to get to the site by 7am, since their arrival window was between 7am and 9am. Not very nice customer service Mario! (I ended up putting the glass items in boxes while I was waiting for Junk King to arrive - the workers were able to take them in boxes without fear of broken glass). read more
