    The famous Flammenkuchen
    Brian B.

This was one of several little outdoor cafes in this little French town. They are famous for the Flammenkuchken here so we got it. Its like a thin chewy crust pizza with what looks like sour cream spread on top along with strips of ham and cheese and then its quickly baked to melt everything. Not bad really.

Delicious delirium beer with adorable matching glassware

We just left Italy and had regretted not eating more pasta while we were there. So we were so happy to stumble on Jupiler Cafe. It's right in the heart of Colmar, and super relaxed. We are the Carbonara pasta and a side of fries, and the two of us didn't even finish the carbonara. The portions were huge! Also, both of us love delerium beer and we were so ecstatic to see they had one of our favorites there! Would definitely recommend and return!

    Creme brulee to die for!

This is the main foodie market hall in Colmar, and it's small but filled with fantastaic offerings…read more I never pass up the chance to visit a good food hall in Europe, and this one didn't disappoint. The Marche Couvert is located in the middle of old town in a lovely building. It's free to enter, so at least go in to look around even if you don't plan on buying any food. Inside, you'll find a mix of local produce, cheeses, meats, wines, and a few prepared-food stands that make it really tempting to grab a bite on the spot. The atmosphere is warm and lively, with vendors who are generally friendly and happy to chat (especially if you show a little curiosity about what they're selling). It's also a nice break from the more touristy streets outside. It's still very popular, but in a more relaxed way. I was enamored by the fresh pasta stand, especially because the proprietors were speaking Italian. I couldn't pass this up, so I ordered a small portion of homemade cheese tortellini with tomato sauce. Within 10 minutes, my snack was ready (and it was delicious). Hubby elected for some oysters with beer, and enjoyed them. There isn't a lot of seating inside, so be aware if you need a place to rest your feet. Some of the larger stalls had seating if you ordered food or beverages from them (but it was still nearly impossible to get a seat). This market isn't worth a trip just to Colmar to visit, but I'd consider it a must-do for any foodie who is in the area.

Great place for a snack, shopping for a picnic, or a cup of coffee on a rainy day!…read moreMany vendors and cafès. We enjoyed the hot cocoa ; ) You can sit on the terrace and view the canal up close. Such a cool place to hang out and relax during your busy day.
