Nothing fancy, just needed the bangs thinned out and a tiny bit snipped that overhung on my ear. I had an appointment, went in, and as soon as the stylist picked up the scissors I wanted to bolt. The older lady there has hands that shake badly. Enough so that every time she got close to my ears or my eyes I held my breath and tried not to move. She was nice enough, asking questions and trying to be polite, but I was unable to relax in that short amount of time because I was terrified of being poked. The worst part was the time and price. It took her all of five, maybe seven minutes to thin the bangs and shape up the sides, and had the audacity to charge me $50. $50 for shaky hands and 5 minutes worth of work? I can't go back, and I can't recommend that you do, either.

While they have a few stylists, I specifically requested someone with more of a contemporary approach and ultimately I had a masterpiece of a haircut by Tyler. He's there on Fridays and Saturdays and I'd say he's more than worth the wait. Tyler was just hands down cool. Above and beyond the cut, he gave me good advice about beard maintenance, cleaned up my beard lines and advised on how to groom my beard. I had the goal of growing out the length and he gave me tips to achieve this. The appointment with him was like having a personal image consultant and barber in one, all for a very reasonable cost ($20). Couldn't be more pleased and I will be instabooking a three week follow up trim. Let's face it: a good hair cut can make you and a bad one can break you. I really appreciate when someone has attention to detail, isn't rushed and truly shows interest in getting things just right. Tyler definitely lived up to those expectations and that's why I'm making Grote's my new barber.
