This might be everything on the menu! Amazing!

I can't pick what I liked best! (Yes I can... the chicken!) But all the sides were just as awesome! This massive plate has chicken with amazing, crispy skin, fried okra, A HUSH PUPPY that was the best I've ever had, baked macaroni that I will dream about, spicy cabbage, creamy pinto beans, red beans and rice, and garlic mashed potatoes! Can't forget the white bread to soak everything up. This was TOTALLY an indulgence, but well worth it. Add some hot sauce and you're golden!

Catering Made Simple was, without question, the most stressful, unprofessional, and disappointing vendor of my entire wedding. What makes it worse is that the owner chose coercion over accountability -- attempting to pressure me into deleting my review before even agreeing to speak with me. That alone should tell you how they handle their mistakes. I posted multiple public notices tagging them and gave them a deadline -- Friday, September 26 at 12:00 PM -- to reach out and make things right. Despite several attempts, they ignored every one. Planning Failures: Our contract clearly stated a plated dinner, and I provided a detailed color-coded diagram with guest names, allergies, and meal choices weeks in advance. Despite this, staff insisted it was a buffet while we were lined up for our ceremony. I had to walk into the reception in my gown minutes before walking down the aisle to correct them. Because of their confusion and refusal to listen, our ceremony was delayed -- critical time lost as we were already working around rain. Execution Failures: We paid for full cake service, but utensils were missing, and flimsy tools from a décor box labeled "Do not use" were handed to us. Our cake, made by a close friend, was ruined when staff shoved a fragile custom topper -- still in its frame -- into the cake, splitting the top tier. One staff member even called it "cheap." They also failed to provide the highboy table we paid for and placed our cake awkwardly in the back of the dessert table. Guest Service Failures: Staff hovered over tables and repeatedly asked guests if they were finished. My own half-eaten meal was cleared while I was in the restroom, leaving me hungry at my own wedding. When I asked for water, I was escorted to the bar instead of being served. Professionalism & Accountability: My coordinator was harassed to the point of tears, and staff even threatened to pull me aside during the reception to complain about her. The owner, Greg, was present all night, saw me address problems directly, and never once spoke to me or apologized. Instead, he posted defensive public comments and tried to coerce me into removing my review. The only positive: the food was warm, tasty, and as expected from the tasting -- but that's where the good ends. The impact on our wedding was significant: * Our ceremony was delayed. * My coordinator was harassed. * Our cake -- lovingly made by a friend -- was ruined. * Guests felt uncomfortable. * I was left hungry. * The owner refused to take responsibility. To top it all off, I have since been blocked from a major Chicago wedding vendor group -- likely due to a complaint from Catering Made Simple -- instead of them engaging in constructive dialogue. Catering Made Simple failed in planning, execution, professionalism, and accountability. They caused unnecessary stress and ruined key moments of a once-in-a-lifetime day -- and then tried to silence me. Brides and grooms: do not risk your wedding on this company.

I'd heard from a few members of my mother's club about Taste of Home. I haven't lived in the area for quite some time, so all I could do was trust their experience; and I was so glad I did. I explained the need to put our socially-distancing guests at ease with a range of outdoor, afternoon finger food that was individually-wrapped. Donna recommended an array of appetizer sandwiches and cookies that turned out to be real crowd pleasers! Eliminating the use for any utensils was certainly the way to go, and as if to underline that point, trays of non-wrapped cookies and cakes that people brought were hardly touched. My family is so pleased with the outcome, my area siblings are all looking into using Taste of Home for family dinners. We believe in keeping our purchasing as local as possible during this economic uncertainty, and Taste of Home has provided another great Hinsdale option for when cooking is better off done by someone else. Their menu offers great variety for any sort of audience or occasion, so before you order a pizza for the umpteenth time, give Donna and her team a go! Thanks ever, Donna! On a day when I had zero bandwidth for orchestrating a light meal for 40 people, you came through brilliantly! (Insert hearts and stars here!)

New Year's resolutions... you can mark me down for at least one overly-exaggerated eye-roll when it…read morecomes to those things. You want to improve yourself? GREAT! Good for you. You want to give a social media play-by-play of every 10 minutes of your life while doing your juice cleanse? ANNOYING. And It's not like you're curing cancer... yet somehow, acting like your pilgrimage through 3-days without solid food is on par with some of history's greatest tales of suffering usually becomes a symptom. Ugh. Plus, why would I make a resolution like that when I know that such a thing as Foodielicious' salted caramel drizzling sauce exists? The thought of denying myself the cute-as-hell mini mason jar of said Foodielicious salted caramel drizzling sauce seems downright torturous and un-American, and I simply can't and won't get drawn into the the sort of culture that frowns upon it. ... because b*tches gots to eat. amiright? So, this past week was my first time trying (devouring an entire jar of) this delicious salted caramel sauce, but it's certainly not my first rodeo with Foodielicious. I've run into this food service/catering group at a number of summer outdoor festivals and while the line to grab goods from Foodielicious is usually a long one, it's always well worth the wait. From the cupcakes to the frosting shots, to the granola, sandwiches and more, it's no wonder people seek out events these folks are catering... and by 'people' I might just mean me... although I don't feel that I'm alone in this Foodielicious following. You see, Foodielicious has done a number of Charity events that I've attended and while I don't want to sound like a total jerk, I have to be honest and say that I'm a whole lot more likely to show up and support an event that's working to help aid hurricane relief when there's red velvet cupcakes involved. That's just a fact. It's like, human nature or some junk. Because of Foodielicious' delicious presence at many of these charity and good-cause-benefiting events, I've basically become a part time philanthropist //slash// part time cookie wolf-er down-er. Basically, they've made me a better (albeit maybe slightly plumper) person through their do-gooding. So anyway, I'm still not making any official resolutions this year, but I am taking a personal vow to scarf more salted caramel than human should and maybe also show up and support some more good-willed events, granted Foodielicious is there as well. Sort of like a food truck, I recommend liking them on FB for a more up-to-date display of when and where they'll be. https://www.facebook.com/foodieliciouscatering

And I feel incredibly sorry for them, because to have never put one of Angela's treats in your face hole is almost as if you haven't truly lived. They're good at all hours of the day and I like to tell myself it's OK to consider them breakfast because there's bacon! Maple Bacon is bomb and all, but Foodielicious Catering is no one trick pony. The Red Velvet, the Pumpkin, PB&J, and Cookies n Cream are all on point, and they still don't account for all the flavor creations she executes flawlessly. I'm often able to find some sort of fault with cake - too dry, too sweet, too sticky, too dense, too much frosting, bland, stale - because it's a fine art that not everyone gets right. This has never happened with a cupcake from Foodielicious. In fact, my immediate thoughts upon taking a bite are, whether I've never tried that variety or have had it dozens of times, 1) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4pXfHLUlZf4 quickly followed by 2) Shit! I don't think I bought enough cupcakes. So, if baked goods are an art and Angela is the artist, these moist masterpieces are the goddamn Sistine Chapel of sweets. People keep asking me how far along I am in wedding planning; unfortunately, not very far at all. However, I've known from the beginning (even before he put a ring on it) that whether or not the celebration ends up being 2, 20 or 200 people, Foodielicious Catering is getting contracted for the construction of a cupcake tower. The deliciousness doesn't stop with sugar. Foodielicious is a catering business that has no problem making your wildest dreams come true. I've had the pleasure of trying many of the soups, salads, pastas, side dishes, dips and entrées that Angela lovingly makes from scratch. My fiancé is madly in love with the crepadillas, so I'm sure we'll continue working with her to get food for many other upcoming parties (engagement party, bridal shower, bachelorette night and birthdays). You need this in your life! You need this in your mouth! You and your food are in fabulous hands!

I am forever THANKFUL. Their experience, organization, and just willingness to commit to making this day so special. From the start, we loved their food and knew immediately they were it. We even did an additional tasting to look at other options on their menu. Wedding day ... everything that could have happened to us ... happened (never returning to our venue ever). Luckily none of the guests found out because they were all distracted about the food. During contrail hour, the staff was nonstop bringing appetizers because people were taking thirds, fourths, etc. & I'm still hearing about it! Then dinner was exquisite. The portion of the food is very notable... GENEROUS and FILLING. Even my pickiest family members were asking for more. We had a lot of DIYs and they accommodated all of them. Even the ones I brought last minute. And the staff -- every single person -- was so kind, friendly, and just lovely to be around. The bartenders were absolute champs. They even went above and beyond to make us happy while our venue was being EXTRAORDINARILY difficult. Stephanie even came to help us de stress us & the bartenders were just phenomenal - trust me, our 170 guests do not mess around with an open bar. In conclusion, our venue.. never again. Marie's catering would choose all over again! Thank you again!! I don't have photos of our food at the moment, but wanted to share photos because it ended up being such a beautiful day
