Had my wedding over the weekend and while I loved it, I can't say it was stress free (tears were shed, hair fell out, etc.). I can say Marie's Catering saved my wedding... trust me... I am forever THANKFUL. Their experience, organization, and just willingness to commit to making this day so special. From the start, we loved their food and knew immediately they were it. We even did an additional tasting to look at other options on their menu. Wedding day ... everything that could have happened to us ... happened (never returning to our venue ever). Luckily none of the guests found out because they were all distracted about the food. During contrail hour, the staff was nonstop bringing appetizers because people were taking thirds, fourths, etc. & I'm still hearing about it! Then dinner was exquisite. The portion of the food is very notable... GENEROUS and FILLING. Even my pickiest family members were asking for more. We had a lot of DIYs and they accommodated all of them. Even the ones I brought last minute. And the staff -- every single person -- was so kind, friendly, and just lovely to be around. The bartenders were absolute champs. They even went above and beyond to make us happy while our venue was being EXTRAORDINARILY difficult. Stephanie even came to help us de stress us & the bartenders were just phenomenal - trust me, our 170 guests do not mess around with an open bar. In conclusion, our venue.. never again. Amanda was absolutely amazing in helping us organize our food and drink menus. We also had a delicious sweets, late night snack, and Hors d'oeuvres selection. I don't like cake but our wedding cake was very very good as well. I fully recommend asking for Amanda to assist you on your wedding day. She brought up a lot of good points that we never thought of and were able to implement into our wedding. We hired Marie's Catering for our ~120 person wedding at the Danada House in Nov 2017. The whole experience working with them was really quite amazing. In general, they are very well priced for the quality that they provide. Marie's Catering works the Danada House routinely, so it also helps that they are really familiar with the floorplan and general intricacies of the space. We got rave reviews from guests about the food quality and the friendliness of the wait staff and bartender. I corresponded exclusively with Victoria, who is so easy to work with and SO extremely helpful. Victoria really has an eye for this stuff, which was extremely useful when it came to making decisions about colors and layout and timeline. She was quick to respond via email and text to any questions that we had. I was blown away by the venue after Victoria coordinated the setup, and could see many details that she added herself that tied everything together perfectly. We got married at Danada House and Marie's was one of the approved caterers. We contacted Marie's and were amazed with the value as well as how professional Ericka was, answering all of our questions. We opted for the Peppercorn crusted Sirloin and the Chicken a la Marie. The meals were amazing. After dinner and the next few days, I probably had 20 plus people tell me that their dinner was amazing! Some of our guests said it was some of the best wedding food they've ever had, and that was definitely the case for us. I highly recommend the Chicken a la Marie and Yukon Mashed potatoes. Ericka was very helpful throughout the whole process and very organized with her emails. She answered all of our emails promptly and asked us questions so the night was extremely smooth. We had a host of preferred caterers to choose from when we had our December wedding at Katherine Legge Memorial Lodge, and we couldn't be more thrilled with our choice in Marie's Catering & Events. After looking over the pricing and menu options, we knew this would be the best choice in quality and variety for our guests and us. This late review is by no means a reflection of the company. I'm a procrastinator. Our point person at Marie's Catering, Ericka Vetter, kept us on track. She is an impeccable communicator. She was available via phone or email, and she always had an answer for every single question we had from the day we inquired on through to the wedding day. We chose a specific package for a family style dinner, wine, linens and cake, and we worked with Ericka to customize the package to include a VIP bar upgrade, passed hors d'oeuvres, and late night snacks. We were able to choose two cake flavors (and fillings) and paid a little extra for a fresh fruit filling. Our guests raved about the food. The service was also incredible. Ericka and Amanda made sure everything ran smoothly and ensured my husband and I had plenty of food, including plates of hors d'oeuvres since we were taking pictures during cocktail hour. I would give Marie's ten stars if I could. My husband and I used Marie's for our wedding caterer at the Rialto Square Theatre in Joliet over the summer. One BIG selling point for Marie's is that they offer packages that include the wedding cake, floral centerpieces, chair covers/table linens, etc. It's really a one stop shop. The Rialto has no kitchen facilities, so Marie's had a big job to do - and they did it really, really well. We were so happy with how seamlessly the reception went - from passed appetizers during the cocktail hour, to dinner, and then the sweet table (with our cake sliced up into pieces for the guests), it was perfect. I was incredibly impressed at how seamlessly the whole planning process went leading up to the wedding. The event planners remember every detail and as a meticulous planner myself, I really appreciated this. read more

Since the majority of caterers didn't even bother calling us back, we went with Maries by default. We are so happy the other possibilities didn't want our money! The food and the service were absolutely fantastic. I truly did not have to worry about a thing, they handled everything. The food came out in a timely matter, and it was warm and delicious. Family and friends will still comment about this aspect of our wedding even a year later! Ericka was a phenomenal help and super sweet. She gave me a hug on the big day - it was almost like she was there as a guest the way her comfortable presence assured us she was on top of things. I've heard some brides go on and on about the difficulties they have with caterers, but we did not have a single issue... Ex: we would email with a question, and get a response within a few hours- how often does that happen? Clearly they take their business seriously. Is it vain to say my wedding had the best food out of any wedding I've ever been to, thanks to Marie's Catering? Maybe. But it's true! Quality food and presentation were a priority for us. I still remember a wedding I went to when I was little, where my mom let me have McDonalds on the drive home because the food was so terrible. I didn't want our wedding to be remembered like that! Marie's was recommended by our venue (The Rialto Square Theatre in Joliet), as well as our DJ. It was definitely a nice perk to have companies that had worked together, especially at a place like the Rialto where everything had to be brought in Marie's was excellent from the start. They offered comprehensive packages that included linens, chairs, cake, dessert, centerpieces (though the florist they work with was a little . . . well not good) etc. One stop shopping! We went with the diamond package, and were so glad we did. Our guests raved about our delicious dessert table (their waist lines probably weren't as happy as they were, ha!). From their online options to our first tasting, we were impressed. They set up a nice little romantic table at their banquet hall and brought out our options - everything was absolutely delicious. On the day of, service was timely and our guests were very happy with the food. And Ericka, our coordinator. Wow. She was on top of everything. We booked pretty early, and had a lot of changes throughout our planning. She kept track of every little detail, helped us with our coordination, everything. Color swaps, dietary restrictions, last minute changes, limited information from our venue - she handled it all and kept our catering experience stress free. She even helped tweak our day-of timeline to help things flow a bit better, and gave us advice about keeping the wedding in order. Their albums don't do them justice. I was a little worried about our cake, since the pictures on their Facebook and their albums were so-so, but our buttercream cake had that sleek, polished look of fondant, and tasted 10x better. The fabric draping on our tables and everything looked perfect and well designed. If I ever need something catered again, I will definitely use Marie's without any reservations! read more

My husband and I can't say enough good things about Marie's Catering. From the very beginning, Amanda was very helpful in answering our questions, being responsive, and working with us to create a menu that we wanted. We were astonished by how much food was provided at our tasting, all super yummy, and so we eagerly booked them for our reception. We opted for family style so each guest could enjoy all the dishes, and boy are we glad we did! We had DOZENS of guests come up to us that night, and since, RAVING about every dish. Everything being so delicious and cooked perfectly was even more impressive when you consider they served over 100 people. The servers were great and very attentive and even boxed up my husband and my leftovers, which was such a treat we were not expecting. We hired Maries for our wedding this past weekend and couldn't have been happier with the service that they provided for us. Amanda was our event specialist and she made the whole process easy. Everyone really enjoyed the food and is still talking about how good it was. We ordered the Caesar salad, roasted salmon, roasted rosemary pork loin, bone in baked chicken, rissole potatoes, garlic Parmesan farfalle, and the roasted vegetable melange. The pork loin was a little dry for me but everything else was super tasty. We had our reception at the Danada House and since Marie's was a preferred caterer, they knew the space and was able to set up exactly the way we wanted. Their staff was friendly and attentive. I would without reservation recommend working with Ericka Vetter at Maries. She is a godsend. I was planning my wedding in my hometown from 1,000 miles away and couldn't have done it without her. She was so responsive to all of my questions and so very calm and patient and always had great advice. Ericka and Marie's catered my wedding at the Danada House and did an absolutely phenomenal job. Seriously, there was not one thing I would've had them do differently. DO NOT USE MARIE'S. We went to our tasting today for our wedding and the food is absolutely disgusting and they got all of the details of our wedding wrong. First, we tasted the appetizers. Which were frozen and just heated. They even told us that the appetizers are frozen pre-made. Nothing special. Presentation was also lacking. The veggie quesadilla was good tasting but nothing to remember. Secondly, the salad had goat cheese and balsamic vinaigrette dressing. There was several pieces of goat cheese with mold on them. My future mother in law thought it was blue cheese. We asked to make sure it was goat cheese and she confirmed that it was. Well I've never seen goat cheese with brownish green hair....They apologized and said it was the balsamic dressing. I'm not stupid, I know what mold looks like. Thirdly, we tried 3 entrees. Filet mignon which was so well done, it wasn't even edible. It was completely brown and tough. Poor quality beef that had no flavor. The chicken was dry and covered in a white gravy that just looked unappetizing. The pork tenderloin was surprisingly tender but they doused it in chili powder and then brought out a side of "pork gravy" which really was just a can of gravy they heated up. Mashed potatoes were alright, nothing special. The green beans were nothing special as well. Then, they got all of the details of our wedding wrong. They mentioned we had a 10 am ceremony and lunch reception... Ummm no, we never even considered a day time wedding. Our ceremony is at 5pm so I have no idea where they came up with that information. Totally unprofessional. Please, do yourself a favor and don't use Marie's. I'm getting married in 4.5 months and now I need to find a new caterer. read more

We recently had Marie's cater our daughter's wedding at the Rialto Square Theater. What a magnificent meal! :-) The food (we chose filet, stuffed chicken breast, and stuffed portabellos as our entrees), was incredible, served hot, and served with care and by friendly, personable servers who really made an effort to be kind and knowledgeable about the food they were bringing to each table. I can't tell you how many happy guests we had and everyone had wonderful things to say about the food and the service. Also, our consultant, Ericka Vetter, was a true professional. Our daughter's wedding was this past September 18 at the Danada house. I've been meaning to post this review for some time. I don't post reviews much but rely on them and feel like I need to do it more often. Marie's Catering was one of the preferred caterers on the list they gave us. We are so glad that we chose them. Can't say enough good things about our experience with them. Amanda, our coordinator was amazing. She really knows weddings and all the little things that people might miss. Our daughter and her fiancée chose the family style option. We had beef, chicken, and a white fish (can't remember which one), pasta, and potato side dishes. Everything was very good. There was plenty of food and the staff was quick to bring seconds if needed. A concern of mine was that sometimes wait staff might be slow in bringing seconds but no issues here. Everyone we spoke with had nothing but good things to say. Even the bar was great and so we're the bartenders. After the reception, Amanda And her team cleaned up everything and had all our take home decorations neatly boxed up and placed on a cart. A big THANK YOU to Amanda and her team! read more

We can't thank Marie's Catering enough for making our wedding incredible. The service throughout the entire event was outstanding. The staff was extremely friendly, flexible, and were a delight to have around our guests. The food was exquisite. We offered our guests a choice of prime rib or vegetarian lasagna. Regardless of their choice, our guests could not say enough great things about the food. Prime rib is tricky to cook, especially in mass amounts. However, Marie's cooked it to perfection. It may have been the best prime rib I've ever had. The veggie lasagna WAS the best I've had. Something that could be taken for granted is the butter. Marie's has an herb butter that is delicious. Guests were using more butter than bread because it was so good. Ericka, our event coordinator from Marie's, was fantastic. She took the stress out of everything. She is incredibly organized and had everything timed to the minute. Throughout the night she periodically kept us updated on what part of the event was coming up next. It was such a relief to have her helping through the whole night. We opted for a dessert table instead of the cake. Great decision. The selection of pastries was awesome. It surpassed our expectations. Overall, I would recommend them to anybody. The food, customer service, attention to detail, communication, and Ericka were absolutely perfect. We chose the unlimited family style dinner for our guests to choose what they wanted to eat without having to wait in line at a buffet...and our wedding cake they did was just beautiful! We went with Marie's Catering for our April 2014 wedding at Danada House in Wheaton, IL. Out of the 4-5 caterers I contacted, they were most reasonably priced and the quickest to respond. If they don't have an answer for you right away, they will always email you back within few hours to let you know that they're working on it so you don't feel neglected. Ericka is an absolute joy to work with! She's so well organized and on top of everything. We were told by many of our guests that our wedding was one of the most well executed and kid friendly wedding they've attended. We were also very happy with how our custom salmon dish (we requested miso glazed) turned out. Several guests made a point to tell us how much they enjoyed the food. We're so happy we chose Marie's. All my fears about who would do what, when, how.....she took care of everything. She was extremely quick with our inquiry. Their prices were very reasonable, definitely more bang for your buck. She met with us in person, then we had a met at the venue so she can get a feel for the space/kitchen. We chose the platinum package, had family style dinner and added appetizers. The wedding cake was included in this package & was SOO good and gorgeous. On the day, the staff was pretty awesome. Professional, courteous, we really enjoyed them! Most weddings I go to, they're usually not very nice. We rented the place settings, really pretty/clean/shiny, glasses were spotless. The food.....OMG the food was really really good. My guests would not stop raving about the food and because it was family style....each guest was able to pick and choose what they wanted to eat. Their coordinator Erika did a great job working remotely with me and my mom on the west coast, and locally with my Chicago-based aunts to schedule tastings. She was able to work with our budget and my need for gluten-free options. She made it easy and ordered linens, chairs, scheduled staff for delivery and set up the day of. The service staff and manager were all extremely professional and gracious. They were flexible and helpful throughout the entire wedding. They decorated the tables beautifully and pre-plated salads so no guests would be waiting to eat. The buffet dinner was hot and frequently replenished. Marie's surprised us by adding beautiful decorations to the buffet table in our wedding colors! Guests raved about the food, it was elegant and delicious. This is looooong over due. I used them in Nov Of 2013 for my wedding at mayslake and when i tell you that they are the best caterers around i mean it. I have worked for many catering companies in the city that are double what maries charges and those other companies dont come close to maries!!!! At our tasting i felt like i had known Erica and the chef all my life. They are the kind of people that made this wedding process such a pleasure. Everyone and i mean EVERYONE said that this was by far the best wedding food they have ever had. My linens were gorgeous,the cake was amazing and the staff was the BEST!!! This is all coming from the girl who wanted nothing to do with a wedding let alone planning it.
