Then again, I wasn't the only person wandering around here on a brisk winter morning, and I certainly wasn't the youngest. So, I wouldn't quite say that this is where the border between Queensland and New South Wales meets, but it is pretty close, and it is a nice place for a stroll. Well, if you're into surfing it seems that surfers also quite like this place as well, though I'm not one of them.

The water is very deep and the rocks are incredibly dangerous...maybe it is the thrill of it all but I'd rather my dingy with a life jacket.ha I noticed that there were a number of serious surfers who were in family groups. A number of times I saw the serious surfy dads in their mid to late 40s with their grown up children, all paddling out to get that monstrous wave. However not too far out from the shore was a huge whale bobbing in out of the rough waves. With the sun streaming down and the glorious heat this was a wonderful sight to see. People were gathering on the beach, on the rocks and at the nearby lookout to see this majestic mammal. The lifesavers were very busy watching from a distance and the marine helicopter flew over just checking on the people. A fantastic spot to be just at the right time. You can't get any better..sun and the surf!

Once again, it is another one of those monuments to a person who not only wasn't the first person to discover Australia, but also wasn't the first European to discover the continent either. Yeah, this is basically just another example of a waste of government money. Actually, come to think of it, when I wrote the above I didn't realise that it was also a lighthouse. Hey, I guess that works since this is a pretty rocky park of the coast. Then again, I really don't see all that many ships coming too close to the coast here, considering that it is the Gold Coast, except for yachts and the like, so I guess it has its purposes. The main draw for him was bringing me to SkyPoint to get amazing views of the area. You can see up and down the coast, plus inland with all the various natural and man-made areas. You can see the beach, canals and islands, plus the city and mountains. It was $31AUD per person, which includes the quick elevator ride and views. There's a cafe restaurant up top too. I don't think there's any time limit. They also have information cards about different sites you can see. There are also restrooms at the top too. If you're a fan of high observation decks, this is a nice one.

Drinks outside are your usual expensive footy game prices (9 bucks something for a mid strength bourbon), but inside there's a proper bar with ice and full strength spirits for a dollar or so cheaper. Had seats on level 1 in the front row on the wing and they were brilliant. Parking is a little annoying, you have to walk what feels like miles to an intersection and back to opposite where you parked to enter the ground, but they have free shuttle busses back into surfers / Broadbeach and a few other places that didn't have too long a wait. Oh - they have flames going off for a bit of entertainment if that's your thing!

The employee also showed us where the oysters breed as well as sample a fresh shucked oyster. I recommend this tour to any tourists looking to do a fun day time activity!! :)
