I think they may have re-vamped since the previous reviews as I found it a very light and pleasant environment, with modern light fittings and an attractive bar. We were there in the morning, so perhaps it is a little less relaxed at night. We were pleased to find that brunch is served until 4 on a Sunday! There is a deal that gets you a breakfast cocktail with any brunch item for £10 but we decided to go for coffee instead. I went for a flat white which was my only disappointment really. I know flat whites are fashionable, but they are also tricky to make. It wasn't really a flat white and the coffee itself wasn't very tasty. It wasn't disgusting but I think I'd go for a tea next time. I had trouble picking between pancakes with bacon, smoked salmon and avocado or the egg and bacon hash. They didn't have the salmon so I went for pancakes. I'd paid extra to have bacon but I wasn't expecting to have fruit as well! So on one side of my plate I had pancake with two slices of bacon and on the other, pancakes with strawberries, bananas and blueberries! Plus a little pot of maple syrup. It looked strange at first but actually it was quite nice, the best of both worlds. Everyone else was very happy with their meals. The hash looked particularly good. I'll have to visit my local branch to try it. My meal and coffee came to about £10 which wasn't bad. We had lots of tap water throughout. The waitress was extremely efficient. I was really impressed with how she ensured a group of 14 got everything they ordered with absolutely no problems.

During my last stay in Sheffield I came here twice and in both cases the tables were sticky and the service was poor... even when the place was somewhat empty. Granted, it's in a good location, so this place is perhaps a natural meeting area to gather the gang, but I certainly wouldn't make a night of it at this location.

Mum and I paid a visit on a Monday lunchtime. It was quiet and there were a few staff on. But that…read moredidn't mean we were seated straight away, no sir. We were left stood at the entrance for a good while before someone came over. We were shown to a table and handed a menu - no explanation of any offers that were going on, but as it happens we'd already seen a poster for 5 tapas for £12 outside anyway, it put my 2-4-1 tapas voucher I had ready on my iPhone to shame! We were given adequate time to decide what we wanted, then our order for food and drink was taken at the same time. Drinks arrived swiftly and the food followed some five minutes later. Everything was cooked beautifully, not overdone like I've had before, and five tapas between the two of us was more than enough to fill us up. The bill came to a very respectable £16. A bargain lunch, some would say! The service could be a bit quicker in regards to showing people to tables and the manner could be a bit less brusque. Also I'd prefer it if I'd been told about the offers - had we not seen a poster outside, we'd have gone for the 2-4-1 offer I'd had ready anyway - every other La Tasca I've been to has always said what offers they have available. Still, I'd go back. It was a pleasant environment (screaming child aside) and the food was delicious!

Had lunch here today and both the food and the service was supberb!…read more We had the lunch special - ongoing until 5PM - which was 5 tapas selections for two people for £10. We started off with bread and olives. The olives were proper Spanish olives (not that tinned rubbish that some places give you) and the bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar was plentiful. The chicken croquettes left something to be desired. The fried white fish was crispy, light, and not greasy at all. The meatballs were plentiful and tasty. The vegetarian paella was the best I have ever had! The cheesy aubergines in red sauce was delicious. There were many vegetarian options. The service was great and friendly, our waitress was more than helpful. The food came out reasonably quick as well. Both the serving plates and the food was hot (very important). The staff tips are not shared - the waitress did share hers with the cook staff, which I thought was fair. All in all a great experience! I would definetly recommend this place, and intend to visiting again.
