Tapas Revolution used to be one of the best places to eat in Meadowhall, but sadly the standards…read morehave dropped drastically here, which is a real shame, as I really loved this place. It seems the prices have gone up and up, and the quality has gone down and down. The menu has been reduced since my last visit, with gluten-free options now minimal, one of my favourite dishes, Huevos Rotos, is no longer on the menu, and the tapas paella which used to be fantastic and innovative has not only declined in portion but now seems to taste bland and microwaved. I did notice the promotional offers on the tapas dishes did have some exclusions, and the offer became more confusing than anything else. I ended up ordering the chorizo because it would have worked out cheaper, only to be told that the "3 tapas" offer did not include the paella tapas. I decided to not order this, but my server brought and charged it for me anyway. I found the chorizo to be hard and again, it also lacked flavour. The seating and vibes of this place are reasonable, as it is within a huge Food area of a shopping centre, they are restricted. 2* - Probably only worth coming in for the sangria now, the authenticity is gone, serving bland and microwaved food, with them now charging more than ever before.

It was probably a mistake for 2 vegetarians to try this place though, given that there was a whole pigs trotter, partially carved, in the window! The food was good but not great though, but I could imagine that a meat eater would enjoy the food a lot better than we did. Good selection of wines (only 2 desserts though?!) and with it being open for breakfast and lunch, it's a versatile venue which I hope will grow and be here to stay : )

Decent, if unspectacular, tapas bar found in Broomhill. In its favour - the food isnt bad at all,…read moretheres a pretty decent range to choose from, and its all fresh and tasty. The prices are reasonable - I've paid much more in comparable tapas places in the UK. The service is efficient. The menu changes pretty regularly to reflect seasonal produce, and theres always a pretty extensive specials menu available. To its detriment -its very basic inside and could do with a bit of a refurb to make it seem a little more appealing inside, some areas have a look of a works canteen to them. The dessert menu is very sparse. On the whole though, its not bad at all. not a place I'd choose to go for a special occasion, although I have seen group bookings in there, but fine as a place to stop at for a quick bite to eat or as a prelude to an evening at the theatre or cinema.

It's pretty new, it's pretty pleasant, it's pretty pretty…read more Bilbao's reputation definitely preceded them, so after having heard a few wax the ol' lyrics about this place, I decided to give them a whirl. I'm all about the tapas eats in general, being the type who likes to choose as much variety of a meal out as possible, so Bilbao was always going to make me happy. I feel as though I'll have to come back to experience the heady heights others had told me about, since my visit was fine (certainly not disappointing -- so I've gone for four instead of three stars) but it didn't wow as much as I expected. Perhaps it's the classic pitfall of having high expectations after hearing such good press?! We went in on Saturday sans booking and managed to grab a seat straight away. (It was the last one, so we were pretty lucky.) One of the waitresses did her best to serve us promptly, although she was pretty rushed off her feet. The only downside to the service was that we spotted another waitress who could have seen to us sooner (and even smiled at us) but chose to natter at the bar -- it was quite some time before we got to order a drink. Every other person who served us was absolutely fantastic, though, which ought to be noted. We picked one dish each for ourselves and then three to share and --with a dessert-- this was plenty of food. We shared the olives (super garlicky, which I liked), the garlic prawns (shelled for us and marinated in ultra delish garlicky butter), and a pork dish. The pork pieces were cooked beautifully and came with these incredible oyster mushrooms. I had the steak, which was tasty and cooked well (how I'd asked) but didn't blow me away -- I think this was simply because I'd had the most amazing steak elsewhere very recently! We also shared a bottle of rioja, which was totally lovely. The desserts were great too: warm gooey brownie and a traditional Spanish dessert with sponge, cream, and torched sugar on top. (Forgive me for forgetting the name!) The overall ambiance is fine, although I'd say next time I'd like to sit at a lower table as the high chairs weren't optimal to sit and eat in. The music was also curious -- it sort of seemed to be so purposefully background it stood out to us, if that makes any sense. Gentle, romantic lighting and a pleasant space make up for that, though -- especially if in a group. I imagine the experience is even better with more friends to share with! Overall, this one merits a second visit. Five dishes and one bottle of wine: £60 odd. On a Monday it's half price, so you'll get a lot more bang for your bunse. Check them out!
