I signed a contract with Frank in August 2022. Panicked and concerned about the water in my home…read moreand potential long-term damage, I did not read the contract as closely as I should have. Frank told me it would be a maximum of 12 weeks to get my home back to its former state. The following day, his team arrived, packed up (although not labeled-not even the fragile items) my belongings and put them in a trailer in my driveway. I was given the key so that I could access my belongings if needed. I was not told that they were charging me $500/month for the trailer. This trailer obstructed my driving access to the garage, and impended the ability for trash cans to be taken to the front and the back yard to be mowed. I had Frank move it. The trailer also left rust stains on my driveway. Scratches were left on my hardwood stairs because of the thin paper used to cover them. Unbeknownst to me, I was charged a weekly fee to rent the furniture blankets for my furniture in the trailer! I'm not sure why because they were used after moving them to the trailer, because they weren't being moved back into my home for several weeks. Frank had two cabinet companies come to my home to provide estimates. One would take 14 weeks, the other estimated that it would take 3-5. I went with the latter company, although Frank was encouraging the other company. I reminded him that he said the entire remediation/reconstruction would take 12 weeks. He responded, "Even after the cabinets arrive, I'll have to get you on the schedule and that could take another 6-8 weeks!" Interesting - I thought my contract and the incomplete work put me on the schedule! His attitude and tone became unacceptable. He even threatened to put a lien on my property. I terminated the contract and paid his company what my insurance had authorized for the work done to date. My lawyer advised me to get a signed release of lien from Frank before I handed over the check. Frank advised me that he had not, in fact, placed a lien, so I demanded a notarized letter on company letterhead stating that he had not done so. He provided it to me, and I proceeded on my own. All Weather Restoration had only removed half of my flooring, stating that they did not detect moisture on the rest of the floor. When this flooring was eventually removed in preparation for my new flooring, mold was indeed discovered and had to be treated. This was an additional expense. I received my check from the insurance company and am having the construction done with the companies I choose according to my timeline and their availability, not anyone else's. Getting my home back to pre-disaster status is a priority for me and will be completed within the 12-week timeframe that I was promised because I took over. I prefer to be a part of decisions being made on my behalf, and having the insurance company pay me, not a remediation company based on their decisions and timeline. This experience was a very difficult lesson. My lawyer has always said, "The devil is in the details." While I appreciated Frank's persistence and persuasion with the insurance company, in retrospect, I wish I had just initially paid his company for the remediation, nothing more.

Their price blew every other quote out of the water and they offered a better shingle and a better workmanship guarantee warranty (10yr). Much to my surprise they were at my house 2 days later installing my new roof on the house. They stripped two layers of shingle, replaced several bad decking boards I had. They do 6ft of ice and water shield. Code only requires 3ft. They made sure everything on the roof was wrapped up, secure and water tight. Then they started putting down the shingles. I mean these guys work like a well oiled machine together. This company does not subcontract out the work. The employees work for J & J. My roof on house and garage looks great, they did a good job of cleaning up. I'm super happy with this company and highly recommend them. My lesson in 2023 - lean more towards the locally owned mom and pop shops and not big box names.

I was home for the entire job; the owner was not onsite to supervise as stated in the contract and the scope of the contract was not shown or reviewed with the work crew. I had to tell them there should be a separate roof vent installed for my bathroom fan and where it should go, they would have shingled over the location if I had not said anything. I'm a licensed residential builder myself and questioned some of the workmanship methods and suggested alternatives to consider that would make the job more weather tight and look finished but they were ignored except for one suggestion that was changed but only after showing Owens Corning recommended it and the city inspector recommended it. After that I was confronted by the owner with a very unprofessional conversation telling me I have been nothing but difficult the entire job and told me to just pay the crew person in full when job is finished, saying "he's done with me" as he walked away, leaving me feeling like the bad guy !

I had to host Thanksgiving with my kitchen looking like a disaster. Jason was contracted by HD and AIS to remove my old backsplash and install drywall for a new backsplash. He told me he was going to Menards to grab drywall while his apprentice completed the removal. He then discovered I wasn't on his schedule to do the backsplash install and assumed HD took that part of the job away from him (which turned out later to not be true). He spent the rest of the morning expressing his frustration with HD then ultimately quit before the job was done, lying to me and telling me now he doesn't handle drywall at all and the demo was complete (which it wasn't). He also: -Lied to AIS that he couldn't complete the job because my counters were in the way (never told me that was an issue), to make sure he got paid. -Damaged adjacent walls during backsplash removal which he promised to repair and paint, but never did. -Filled my personal trashcan with backsplash and drywall debris so full that i could barely move it. Had to hand scoop the debris into contractor bags at 12:30am before trash day in the cold. -Borrowed and didn't properly reassemble my shop vac, blowing drywall dust into my house when used next and causing breathing difficulties for my wife and 3 small children. -Ghosted all communication from me afterwards when I tried to find out what happened and why he left abruptly. -Made disparaging remarks about HD and myself on my doorbell camera like "I don't want to hear no f*cking complaints . . . we're done". As a result of Jason's actions, my kitchen project has been pushed back weeks, HD has had to refund me and recover their money from Jason, and he has lost all future jobs from the HD.
