I hesitantly accepted his explanation and they proceeded to regrout. Two techs were her for 2-1/2 hours .. was suppose to be an all day job. A few hours after they left I went in to inspect their job. We found several areas that They hadn't even shaved down the old grout and had just applied theirs over top. It was easily identified because the colors were slightly different. There were pin holes in the grout in a few critical places as well as areas near the glass door that they hadn't even touched... I could tell because it had old filler caulk still there. Several areas had deep recesses which I felt were areas that were shaved but never re-grouted or barely grouted. After a call to the owner he agreed to come out the following morning w the tech. The owner never showed only the tech. My spouse and I showed him the areas and shared our disappointment. The tech would speak over us as we were talking. I told him what I felt needed to be done and he said he would wait for his boss. So he sat in his truck for about 20 minutes and then just left. It has been two full days since then with no word from anyone. A few smaller things but still worth mentioning: Two technicians were here for a total of 2 1/2 hours during which each of them used to my toilet and without asking. They used my small bathroom trashcan to dump their grout debris and dust and a Gatorade bottle. They don't wear booties so they ended up tracking the shower grout dust onto my bedroom carpet.

Not only was his estimate fair, but his work on both bathrooms, our kitchen floor, and our walk-in shower was excellent! He started around 9am and finished at 6:30pm with only a short lunch break in between. He stated that it would take a few days for the work to cure and that he would come back a week later, to complete a grout haze cleaning and a sealing process, which he did. This is a contractor that deserves 10 stars, not only for his work, but for his willingness to listen to, and help, the client and turn what can be a stressful event for us older folks, into a pleasant experience.
