Absolutely love this business, they have taken good care of my boat for about 5 yrs now from repairs to winterization they do it all ! Very knowledgeable staff fast service and have most parts in stock they've been around for a while and it shows , have a little patience cause they're busy but that's because they're good!

Gaskets from my carburetor that k&m supposedly replaced

Took my carburetor to k&m for repair . They told me it was fixed . Got on the water And the secondaries would not open . They boat would nit even get on plane . I had a a mechanic at humbug look at and he said I needed to return the boat to k&m because they hadn't done a good job.I called k&m they said no problem they would fix it. So I took all the back to Redford . They kept the boat almost 3 weeks on the 3rd weeks called they screamed at me and told me to "just come and get my boat out of their yard" . I tried to talk to the manager Gary he would never get on the phone . Finally they called me today and said there was nothing wrong with the boat I could come and get it . Had my brother go to pick it and they told me I owed them another 100 dollars . They never told me they were going to charge to fix the problem they supposedly already fixed . I asked to talk Gary again he wouldn't he'll get on the phone . They said "pay the money or the boat will be theirs in 2 weeks . . Please please to anyone who reads these save yourself this hassle and headache . Find a company that still cares about what they do and will stand behind their work . This company has cost me the a whole month of Michigan summer . And as you know it's not very long to begin with . No one should ever be screamed at or threatened while trying to do business . I will be sure to add the business that does the job right . Now I'm also worried they did something to the boat so I'm now taking to have all the oil filters replaced because any business that would treat a customer this way cannot be trusted

We've been coming to K & M since 1980. They treat our vintage SeaRay respectfully and always provide great service/advice.

I've trusted K&M to work on my boats for 15 years. They do quality work, I've never ever had an issue.

Unprofessional behavior and poor communication have cost me significant time and money. Want a couple examples? Read on... Last season, the marina was to winterize my boat. I left it in the water longer than I normally do, so I was in a hurry to get it done. In addtion, they were to work on some other items for me at the same time. I called, and said that the weekend weather was going to be near freezing, so I wanted to make sure it could be stored indoors. On Thursday, the woman working (who no longer works there) told me that I could bring the boat down and they would be sure to get it inside, as long as I pre-paid for my service. I called back later to verify their hours, then brought the boat in on Friday evening after work. There was nobody at the marina. I left the boat outside, called the marina, left a voicemail, and verified that I had heard the hours correctly. I had. The voiccemeail also said that they would be in on Saturday morning. Not wanting to chance it, I showed up first thing Saturday morning, only to find that (again) nobody was there. Left another voicemail, but nobody called me back. My boat sat outside, the temps dropped, and I incurred significant extra damages. When I finally spoke to someone the following week, their response: "Oh, the voicemnail still has our summer hours. We are in our winter schedule now". Fast forward to my repairs: They had also prepared an estimate to replace the brakes on my trailer: over $3,000! Between the boat & trailer job, parts were backordered, mechanics were at the boat show, another mechanic ended up down & out with covid, you name the excuse, and they used it. Long story short, it's now April 2023, and my repairs STILL aren't completed. They finally got my boat done in AUGUST, which gave me about a five week season. I said to forget the trailer work for now. I just wanted to pick up my boat and get it in the water. They didn'tso much as offer a discount for causing me to miss 2/3 of the boating season. Not to mention the extra damages caused by the miscommunication of hours last fall. Needless to say, I was not happy. But they had a lot of staff turnover, and Will & Megan had always been good to work with in the past, so I still planned to winterize with them this season. After turning in my winterization form on Monday, Pam called me on Tuesday, saying that I could drop the boat off Wednesday. I verified the hours personally, then told her I'd be there early the next morning. As I was about to pull out of the driveway, she called me & said that she would need to cancel, because they were full & had "nowhere to store my boat". I informed her that I had adjusted my work schedule based on the information she had given me LESS THAN 24 HOURS EARLIER. When I asked why she couldn't have let me know that the previous day, she stuttered & stammered, and had no good reason. After I expressed my displeasure at the lack of communication & the unprofessional way that the situation was handled, she began yelling at me, before telling me "fine, bring your boat down, and I'll find somewhere to put it". She then hung up on me before I could even respond. Needless to say, I will NOT be bringing my boat to them, today or EVER. The next two marinas I called for winterization services were both happy to get me in immediately, and their prices were about 30% less. The also quoted a complete brake job, based on the make & model of my trailer. It was under $2,000. Humbug has become a dysfunctional marina that only seems concerned about getting their money. The funny thing is, if their customer service wasn't so poor, I'd still be paying their inflated prices. Do yourself a favor: Get a second quote before you take your boat to them. And if you do business with them, be prepared for the "unexpected issues" that will arise.

It took over a week to get a call back from the owner, Bill. No updates no return calls and all of a sudden 3 weeks later, my boat is supposedly done. Put my boat in the water the following Sunday and didn't make it 300 yards and the motor did the exact same thing I took it to the mechanic for originally! So now I'm going on four weeks, charged $540 and still have a major motor problem. I called bill Sunday, Monday Tuesday and Wednesday and finally got a text message back? Keep in mind we have not text through this whole ordeal, the owner didn't have the balls to call me. Now it's one week before the Labor Day and I'm all but begging this jerk to come for a boat ride to see what is actually going on. Which he does and doesn't fix anything, tells me to stay close to shore over the holiday weekend since I can't get the boat on plane, great fix Bill! Bill said he would call me the following Tuesday after the holiday to get a plan together to try and fix my boat, never called and finally he told me to go find another mechanic this week. Now I'm into six weeks with no boat and I'm the bad guy??? Beware. I will say I had multiple recommendations about this guy, I would not recommend him to my worst enemies!
