I am definitely glad I came to learn my basics here. I live in Houston and coming back to my…read moreregular gym just wasn't as fun or intense. I went to the 24hrfitness right by my house and did my normal routine and it was so lame! I didn't have any cool people to talk to... my routine seemed insanely boring and since I've gotten much stronger post CrossFit... the routine seemed so easy. I miss being challenged by the WOD's they created. I am going to check out some CrossFit gyms around Houston so I can keep up with my workouts but they're all much more expensive and restrict the amount of days I get to go. The cheapest option I have found is ~140 with a minimum of 3 months only two times a week. LAME! I wish I could go back to CrossFit Houma.. :(

Working with Bryan and his staff has really improved my lifting technique. When I first met Bryan,…read moreI explained to him that I really did not know much about lifting, having never been in any type of sport. He patiently showed me step by step exactly how to improve each lift. It took a few months but I began to see gains pretty quickly. Even though I know I need to improve much I have never felt more confident about lifting weight in the gym. I have also continuously hit new personal milestones over the past six months. I have also benefited from advice about how to tweak my diet from both Junco and Bryan. I have really enjoyed working out at Houma Cross Fit. It seems that every time I go I learn something new. My new favorite is what I call the Houma Iditarod. It's pretty entertaining to watch! If you want to work out in a positive environment I would give Cross Fit Houma a try

This place could easily be a five star gym. The facility is nice and they have a nice assortment of…read moreequipment to cater to the interests of probably 80% of the folks that would join a gym. I'm a gym owner who happened to be in the area and needed to train, but there's several small things that bothered me a good bit. Things that bother me that I could live with- locker room was a bit messy free weight equipment wasn't great equipment, but it was ok and would work not a lot in the way of kettlebells and none heavy (I get really aggravated when there are no matching kettlebells too) Typical gym douchebaggery- it's the clientele so not necessarily a big deal. These are just things that I could've lived with and still given at least a 4 star review and potentially 5 with a disclaimer that I didn't like the equipment, but it would be fine for most people. Here's the stuff that really bothered me with corrective actions- the plates in the free weight room were all over the place with no rhyme or reason. On the very same holder you could have a 25, a 10, 2 5's, and not even in an order that made sense. Corrective action- sort the weights out daily. Make sure your trainers and staff are keeping it clean. It sucks because everything's heavy, but they work in a gym and are probably in to fitness. The 45's near the squat rack were on the floor. Why were they on the floor? Because the squat rack was pushed so far up against the walls that you couldn't get 45's onto the weight holders. Corrective action- pull the squat rack out where people can re rack the 45's. Every barbell (and I don't think I'm exaggerating here I really mean all of them) had weights on them that weren't being used. Nobody puts their weights up. This is utter chaos. Why would I fault the gym and not just the patrons? Because they haven't gotten it into the culture of the gym that you put your weights back up when you're through. I literally had to go ask a guy if he was still using the squat rack because he left it just like he was getting ready for his next set. The clients won't put weights up if they show up to the gym and nothing is arranged in a manner that makes any sense. Corrective action- Get it sorted and keep up with it. If the staff sees someone leave weights out, politely tell them to put them back. Kick out repeat offenders. And now a huge pet peeve- sanitation. There was not one gym wipe station or even paper towel dispenser and spray bottle anywhere that I could find to wipe the equipment off after I had used it. Which means that the person before me didn't wipe off the equipment before I used it. Which means... someone's probably going to get a staph infection if they haven't already. Corrective action- either get gym wipes and place them no more than about 20 steps from any piece of equipment or get spray bottles with 10:1 water:bleach and put paper towel dispensers out. This may not be an issue in the other areas of the gym, but I seriously looked in the free weight area and eventually went into the bathroom and grabbed paper towels so I could at least wipe my own sweat off the stuff when I had finished up. I genuinely hope the owner/manger reads this and fixes it. I would gladly re-rate it next time I dropped in.

This gym is pretty nice and the lone employee on duty most of the time is very nice and helpful…read more This is one of the things they tout on their website: "Our main objective is to provide the ultimate customer service along with a true concern for your well being." Now, while this is largely true of the employees and volunteers, it is not however, true of the owner. I have never met or seen her at the club and she is very unresponsive to questions and feels insulted if you correspond and ask questions via email; which I did. She not only failed to provide me with the "ultimate customer service," she failed to provide me with any customer service at all! I have been a member of The Workout Co. for several months. Things were going fairly well until the COVID-19 lockdown, which I waited patiently through. After the lockdown, the owner opened up with restricted hours, even though there is still a huge sign in the front of the premises which says she is open 24 hours. Then, a week later, she further restricted the hours; opening only until 8:00 pm, Monday thru Thursday, 5:00 pm on Friday, and noon on Saturday. She is closed on Sunday. It is now the second week in June, and nothing has changed. And, because of her very restricted hours of operation, she is forcing more members into trying to workout within a narrower window of time. This does NOTHING to help ease the spread of COVID-19. Besides, I've read the official Phase 2 recommended operational procedures, and restricted hours of operation are not a part of those recommendations. So, I emailed the owner and questioned the hours, and she took offense. I asked when she thought she would return to a more normal schedule. Again, she provided no answer and took offense. Instead, she portrayed herself and her business as a victim of COVID-19 and felt that I had insulted her. She then proposed that I should pay for her business expenses, and she would add 5 hours to her hours of operation. Then, she cancelled my membership--not for any violation or disruption I caused at the gym, and not for any violation of club rules; only because she took offense at my email questions. Who can operate a business this way? I ran a successful business for many years. Had I treated my customers this way, I would not have been in business for long; and sadly, I suspect this will be true of the owner of the Workout Co. Well, all I can say is: I'm glad she cancelled my membership. I truly wish the owner well, but I do NOT want to be a part of any club where I am not welcomed, or where reasonable questions are not welcomed. She lost me as a customer--she cancelled me as a customer--and I am more than happy to move on to another club.
