I got a massage here followed by lunch with my friend. The massage was great; I felt completely relaxed after. The food is fresh and healthy. We ate by the pool outside. It's a very bougie vibe. Everyone is kind and takes care of you. I walked around the whole place to check everything out, and their gym room was super small. It was smaller than a hotel gym, with only a few machines. I also found their website to be not very user-friendly. I had to call to ask about massage pricing and scheduling. Then I found out a bunch of services they have there from the masseuse, which I also didn't see online. The services mentioned are from doctors and therapists that are not part of Spyre, but rent out the upstairs. I think the website could make this clear so that people can create their full-day package. Wouldn't it be amazing to go to therapy and then have a spa day right after? Other than that, some of their pricing is a little outrageous. The hot/cold plunge and sauna were quoted around $40 for half an hour if I remember correctly. I belong to Oschner Fitness, where I can use hot/cold plunge, hot tub, and multiple pools anytime, so this price seemed very high. I guess if you live nearby and don't want to drive and want the serene atmosphere, it could be a nice alternative to a gym with a pool.

Spyre is tucked away on Prytania, and when you first walk in, you immediately step into this calm and peaceful atmosphere. It also smells amazing! I came with a group for swimming and the pool is really nice. Perfect temperature, salt water, very relaxing. Even the ladies restroom/lounge area is nice. The decor was really nice in there and also around the pool. They really do a great job of setting the tone/mood for tranquility.

The building was once the home of a church-- now, a revamped workout center. One of my friends hosted a yoga Welldown Wednesday class here and I attended. This was my first time at Spyre. Spyre Center is aesthetically pleasing and gives such a relaxing vibe. From my understanding there are a variety of classes held weekly ranging from Yoga, HIIT, Pilates, boxing, water aerobics, and many more! Staff was friendly upon arrival. Location is great (Uptown on Prytania). I can definitely see myself going back to take a class.

Easily my favorite place to work out! They have a variety of classes ranging from yoga to HIIT, with some heated classes as well. My personal favorite is the HIIT/Yoga combo with Mark. The facility is well-designed with comfy furniture to relax in after class. Towels and mats are usually available if you happen to forget one. Overall I've had nothing but pleasant experiences with the staff and instructors. Coming from someone who rarely works out, it feels nice to come in once a week to get a good sweat/stretch in. I use classpass but they have membership pricing for additional perks like the pool and other wellness services.

    beautiful group fitness room!

A wellness center that has it all -- doctors, fitness classes, meditation, saunas, pool, reiki -- incredible place.

I arrived around 15 minutes prior to class so that I could get situated. I met Giselle, who was the instructor of the class, also helped to check me in and acquaint myself with the studio. The studio was beautiful. Even before I walked into the studio I noticed the lovely glass mural of the yogini in camel pose. Everything felt intentionally placed. The lounge area made the place feel warm and inviting. There was plenty of cubbies. The practice space was warm and toasty when I walked in. I got a great sweat through the class, but I didn't find it unbearable. It certainly didn't get to Bikram temperature, which is around 105 degrees. I loved how Giselle's class was like a slow flow. You don't have to move quickly and dynamically in vinyasa to feel like you're putting in the work. You can hold the asanas for several breaths and still feel challenged especially when you're activating every muscle in your body. Giselle offered functional cues and many modifications, which was awesome because it makes the poses accessible for everyone. I would highly recommend her class for all-levels.

It was a place of refuge and healing for the many stressors of life at the time. I had gone to City Hall to advocate for funding for the studio, had written an article about the merits of the studio and even defended Ajax when family members told me she seems very narcissistic. Unfortunately one evening I got to class in the nick of time but the app would not accept my payment because class had technically already started. I was paying with my Doordash Visa card. I went home and received a text from Ajax asking for my payment. I apologized and explained what happened and offered to bring her cash or Zelle her the next morning. She told me that I wouldn't do this at any other business and that it was unacceptable etc. I felt like I was being shamed for something that was an honest mishap. At the time an individual class was only $16. I explained that I was not trying to get over on her but still I was shamed and made to feel like I was somehow turning against her for trying to explain and defend myself. She showed zero understanding, zero compassion. The comments in other reviews about her toxic and egoic behavior ring true. As much as I loved the studio and some of the instructors, and wanted to support a Black owned studio I no longer desire to go. Go at your own risk. At this point, her reputation for the shitty treatment of people proceeds her.

Our yoga session took place at the upstairs art space at Treo (which I had been meaning to check out as Pauline and Stephen Patterson can do no wrong in my eyes) so when I heard that I can check somewhere off my list, get in a workout, AND it included sangria, I was game. I was expecting a meditation focused class but it was quite the opposite. This was a fast-paced class that moved through poses quickly enough that I actually broke a sweat by the end (this never happens). The women who run it (Baye and McKensie) come through the room to gently adjust your posture (which is super helpful and I love it!!!!) and even offer a cool, lavender scented compress after all that hard work. No other Treo events on the calendar yet, but I will definitely be checking them out now that they offer FREE classes at Tchoup Yard!

I didn't find any TOO close, so I was super excited to see a sign advertising yoga at the Cabildo - a 1 minute walk from my hotel! The class was from 7:30-8:30am, which is way before the museum opens at 10am. The class was $12, which is way cheaper than what I am used to paying in NY so I was happy about that. The class itself was decent - I understand that it is an all levels class, and as an avid yogi I felt it wasn't too challenging, but other than that I enjoyed the class. I think if she had asked us visitors what our yoga experience was, she may have realized that we were pretty advanced and adjusted the level of difficulty a bit (in looking around I saw some others modifying the poses to make them more challenging). I would have liked a little music, but that's my personal preference. Nina was friendly and provided mats, blocks, and blankets for us visiting guests. If I were staying longer in town, I'd attend again. She also gave me a free ticket to the Cabildo if I decided to return to see the museum itself, which was really nice. The space is beautiful and it's definitely a piece of history to experience while in NOLA.

I consider myself intermediate, my sister a beginner and we both found comfort and challenge in the class. It is not always easy to find activities in this city that surround something other than drinking or tourists. Although the Cabildo is located close to Bourbon St, it is easy to find tranquillity in the sun soaked room. The windows stretch from floor to ceiling and are covered with billowing white curtains. I went during a construction phase so I could only imagine the beauty the place holds now. Truly a unique experience. This is the building the Louisiana Purchase was signed in for goodness sake! I certainly recommend it and will return.
