My first review of the year goes to this small local business. It is own and run by a grandpa himself. He's very straight to the point, efficient, and nice. I went for my passport photo to be taken, he let me know the price first which is $21 tax included, for 4 pictures. He did mention different countries' passport photos cost varies, so let him know first where is your picture for. He prints them out immediately, the whole process only took about 10 minutes. VERY RUDE AND UNPROFESSIONAL. I had to retake my photo because my first photo didn't meet all the requirements (I was wearing colored contacts similar to my eye color and I didn't know they weren't allowed). I was told during my first visit on 7/18 that if there's any problems and the photos were rejected then they would retake the photos for free. So I went in today 7/25 asking them to retake my photos and the guy in the front greeted me with a bad attitude and let out a big sigh then proceeded to yell at the old lady in front of me reading the pricing on the wall in Chinese "stop reading this, this doesn't concern you, go sit down". I was shocked by his rudeness towards the old lady. And then he told me to go inside to take the photo. The lady inside was no better, she first told me my eye lashes were too long that's why my pupils appeared darker in the photos and I told her that wasn't the case, the embassy did not mention anything about my lash extensions, only that I could not wear colored contacts. And she started arguing with me saying it's because of my lashes and told me to take them off. But I told her these are extensions and I couldn't take them off on the spot. She then told me to sit down and took 3 quick photos and said "you can't have earrings on either but it's okay I'll photoshop them out" and I told her I was wearing the same earrings during my last visit and she didn't say anything the last time and the embassy also didn't say anything about the earrings. But I said I could take them off to retake the photos and she said "no I'll just photoshop them out". When she printed the photos my ears looked crooked and blurred. And she also photoshopped my hair without letting me know. I told her that passport photos shouldn't have any edits, I don't want my photos to get rejected again. She insisted that they were fine and said that I had to pay for the new photos. I went and talked to the guy in the front and said I was told by him last time that retakes would be free if the photos were rejected. And he started slamming on the table and yelling at me and said "it's your fault you were wearing colored contacts, so we are not responsible." And the lady said unless you return the photos from last time I'm still charging you for the new photos. I said the photos have already been submitted and I no longer have possessions of them plus why would you want my photos back when you have no use for them? She then stomped her feet and said "I want them back so I can destroy the products I sold to you. If not, then you have to pay for the new ones." I was shocked by the bad attitude and all the yelling. Upon reading all the one star reviews, it seems like they are never willing to retake rejected photos free of charge. They shouldn't have a "guarantee" for free retakes if they weren't going to honor them. I also think everything could've been better communicated instead of yelling at me while slamming the table and stomping their feet. They also lack the knowledge of the requirements of passport photos if they didn't tell me the first time that colored contacts weren't allowed or if earrings weren't allowed. Anyways, after the repeated yelling by them and the overall bad attitude, I decided to walk out without my pictures because I also didn't want to risk submitting a badly photoshopped photo. read more

Don't get intimated by the sketchy appearance of the building! The inside is clean and professional and I'm very satisfied with the service here. I came for a Chinese passport photo and the lady was so friendly. Clearly she's very familiar with the requirements of those passport photos - told me the color of my shirt was too light and offered me a darker colored one to wear for the photo. She even helped fix my hair. I only had to wait 2-3 minutes for my photos. They turned out really nice, so much better than the low quality but expensive ones at CVS/Walgreens. They were right! The kind lady taking photos took great care to take a flattering, well lit photo. She took quite a few to get my glasses right and I was able to pick the best of the group. Paid cash and even bought a couple of extra prints. I had the address but drove right by it. It is on the south side of Bellaire and west of St. Agnes School. When you walk to the front, it made me feel questionable, but when you get down to business they are very very professional. We went for Australian passport photos which have strict requirements, but the photos met them easily. The whole process happenned fast and felt a little rushed (I think it's an Asian culture thing) but they're very professional and knew the Australian standards well. The lady who takes the photos is very nice. However, I gave K Photo 4 stars because I had a bad experience with the older man who works there. I expressed to him that I wasn't satisfied with the passport photos that I took there and that I ended up taking passport photos somewhere else. He proceeded to yell at me and told me I could only get a refund if the photos were rejected by the people who process the passport applications. I calmly accepted his answer and left the building. I was in the parking lot when they called me back in and the lady decided to return my check to me for which I am very grateful. Needed to take a passport photo to renew my Canadian passport. The specifications are different from CVS/Walgreens so I couldn't get it done the regular way. These guys are recommended by the Canadian Club of Houston so I went here. Took around 5 minutes. The lady knew what she was doing and was very nice. Pictures turned out great. Charged $25 for 2 photos in Canadian passport size. Only reason why I'm not giving them 5 starts is because they do check or cash only, and come in its 2014, no one carries checks or cash on them anymore; there's an APP for that! The owner/lady has an attitude problem. I wouldn't have my photos taken there if it was the last place in Houston. You can find much better deals online and cleaner, too. She gave a bitchy look when I went in the inquire about photo developing from a CD-ROM. I went to K-Photo yesterday to get new passport photos. I picked this location because of the other Yelp reviews and had a great experience. The business itself is a small hole-in-the-wall type operation so I was shocked at how well my photos turned out--- much nicer than if I had gone to CVS or Walgreens. The woman who helped me didn't speak much English, but we were able to communicate without any major glitches. She knew exactly what the technical requirements were for the photos so I just let her do her thing. If you like to be completely control, this might not be the place for you. If, however, you are willing to just "go with it" you will be very pleased. I received 4 physical copies of my photo for $18. I went there two weeks ago to get my China passport photo. Unfortunately, the picture doesn't work. So I was heading back to request the full refund. Because I noticed there was a board said if your photo doesn't work, they going to take full refund or retake the photo for you. When I talked with the lady to request a full refund, she refused my request and told me she only gave me half refound. That's means I have to pay 13 bucks to get a low-quality USB driver. My personal review for any people who plan to take the photo for China passport, go to the Consulate General of China, they have a photo machine in there, you only need to pay $10 to get four pieces photo instead of two in here, and download your electronic photo online. took a passport pic at walgreens, but it was so shitty, i decided to go get another one done. a great idea it turned out to be, because the difference is amazing. due to the fluorescent lighting of walgreens, that pic looked horribly grey and their crappy digital camera must've been set to a really low resolution, because even in a pic that small, i could see pixels. i don't know that this hole-in-the-wall family place has professional photographers or amazing equipment, but it is STILL leaps and bounds better than walgreens. AND, it's cheaper, too. skip walgreens. seriously. doesn't accept credit cards, tho, so bring cash. read more
