My friend and I did the sunset ride at 7:30 and it was so much fun. The ride was really reasonably priced. All of the staff there was really kind. The trail that we took was a 90 minute trail and it was really pretty. Prior to riding, we were taught the basics of how to ride and how to be safe while riding. After the ride, my friend and I had to wait a little while for our Lyft to pick us up. We are not from Indiana so we were kind of nervous to just be waiting outside because they had closed. The employee Eric came up to us and offered to wait with us until our Lyft came. I really appreciate that because it did make my friend and I feel a lot more comfortable. He was really friendly and knew a lot about horseback riding. He had mentioned he only worked there for a week which is shocking because he knew so much and was so helpful. I would definitely recommend coming here :)

I've been waiting for this horseback riding experience to open! What a great addition to Strawtown Koteewi Park in Hamilton County. With the hiking/biking trails, Treetop Trails Aerial Adventure, archery range, campgrounds and now this, Koteewi is a one-stop shop for outdoor adventure. A great experience start to finish. I am a horse novice and left the experience wanting to come back for more. They do a great job teaching you about horses, going over rules and safety regulations and explaining the "leave no trace" principle. From there, you strap on your helmet and mount your horse (they can assist if the height is a bit daunting). Right now, there are over a dozen horses and a few ponies will be added to the mix. I rode Lucky for a 45 minute trail ride and while I was apprehensive at first, I loved every minute! Great way to see the park from a different perspective. The horses are calm and easy to work with. Amazing how just like people, they have their own personalities. Note that all rides are guided, so you will never be out on the trails alone. They'll also have sunset rides, pony rides, chuckwagon dinners and more - and can also accommodate corporate groups, family reunions, etc. I'm hoping more people who haven't yet been to Koteewi will make the trek to experience the beauty of this park by horseback. Highly recommend booking an adventure!

I can't say enough good things about my experience at IB Stables in Noblesville! A true gem of a…read morestable and historic treasure just 30 minutes north of Indianapolis. I am a beginner and have been taking lessons there since early Fall of '22, and I have been extremely impressed with everything so far. The lesson prices a very reasonable for all you receive, and the expertise available to you for all the services they offer is unparalleled. Likewise, I have enjoyed getting to know Iris and the rest of the family and spending time in a barn and stable that has so many decades of rich, family equestrian history. The walls in the original, wood paneled, office in the main part of the historic, century old barn, are lined with photographs of the champions bred, raised, and trained there over the years. You will not find anything like this anywhere near Indianapolis with this rich a history! If you are looking for a real working stable, this is the one. Sadly, farms, barns, and stables like this are going by the wayside due to urban expansion and changing needs. This grand old barn may not look like the newer stables with the fancy, newer looking trimmings, but she's magnificent for her age! They also have a large, wonderful, indoor riding area, which allows you to ride year round plus all the other amenities the other stables offer and more. They have the trust you can expect, the service you deserve and the experience you need, that will win you over. I wanted to take lessons from someone with lots of experience, since I wanted to learn all aspects of horses and horseback riding. I didn't know anything, but I didn't want to just show up, pay to ride a pre-saddled horse and go through the motions for an hour, and IB Stables provided exactly what I was looking for. Iris's family, along with her daughter Audra, who raises winning show horses, are the owners of the stable, are a constant presence during my lessons in the evenings. Iris raises wonderful, champion bred Doberman's and there is also a giant tom turkey who struts his stuff for all the chickens in the barn areas too! All they need now are some mini cows!! The first time I came to the stable to inquire about lessons, Iris, the owner, sat me down and asked me first, why I wanted to learn to ride, what previous experience I'd had and what I wanted to learn. This showed me that they care about ME and not just about taking my money, giving me a standard lesson, and sending me off till next week. They care about everyone who walks in the door that wants to learn to ride or board a horse or wants to use the other numerous, world-class, services they offer. That is why I chose to take my first ever lessons with them. I fun to arrive early and to watch some of the other lessons, which are mostly filled with younger kids. I have watched Iris during her lessons, and at times she can be very firm when giving instruction. Likewise, I too, have received that same firm instruction. But don't be too quick to criticize. You must remember that horses can be dangerous and weigh upwards of 1000+ lbs. Safety is always their number one concern. But, their horses are experienced lesson type horses, well-trained, patient, gentle. Every week I show up for lessons, I see the horses being cared for in ways I never thought horses needed! The ferries are there all the time, along with chiropractors and veterinarians etc. Iris and Audra are always making sure everything is attended too, and they do not skimp when it comes to the horses they own or are under their care. I hope this review helps, and I am truly grateful for the western style riding lessons I have received and love the feeling of family this stable brings. Thanks so much, Iris and family. I look forward to many more years of riding thanks to you.

I give her props for teaching three 21-year-olds how to ride as beginners. We were in the indoor ring, but Sierra Woods has 2 outdoor rings as well. The farm itself is large with multiple outdoor pastures for the horses. The price of a beginner group lesson was $45 - pretty affordable compared to other barns in the area. Overall, my horse lesson at Sierra Woods was a bucket list item that I can check off, and I highly recommend Sierra Woods to anyone looking for a start with horses.

I rode quite a bit many years ago. I had a service expectation in my mind for how things would go and unfortunately the team at this ranch did not deliver. On arrival, parking was not clearly marked (broken signs and no arrows to direct you). Once out of the car, there was no one to greet us or give next steps. We were told by visitors already waiting to step inside the barn to sign a waiver. Once inside, the staff member who wondered out of the dark handed the waiver to me and explained it. Yet she never said hello or introduced herself. It all felt very transactional or as if we weren't welcomed. I can only assume how many trail rides are provided in a day or week but the experience is still special to visitors. I would like to think they still remember this. My children were assigned horses (Cherokee and Widow) and given basic riding instructions from other staff members (they stated afterward the women providing them were not very warm). I was given a horse named Stitch that I did not enjoy or recommend to anyone who has never ridden before. He was headstrong and unfriendly. I can say: The 60 minute ride through the wooded trails was beautiful and very quiet. Our group totaled six so I guess I assumed there would be conversation from the trail lead but there was none. No water was provided or information about the land we were on. I was grateful for the instructor stopping before bigger hills to describe what was ahead and how to best handle it, it helped my kiddos, but I can't say as I would come to this place again. The horses looked thin and tired. Not to mention the barn bathroom was exactly what you'd expect: dusty dirty and rusty. Perhaps our expectations were too high? One big plus: the friendliness of my children's horses and the barn cats.

I've been aware of Koteewi Park and the many activities that they offer for several years and finally decided to give them a try. I arrived 15 minutes prior to our scheduled ride time and my sisters had already been there waiting for about 20 minutes or so. I'd booked this ride several weeks prior. When we went inside to check in, we waited several minutes before being greeted by a woman just coming back into the desk. She advised us that the previous group left late due to some uncooperative horses, and that we'd have to wait for them to return, approximately 35-40 minutes. We'd be riding those same horses and began praying that they'd be more cooperative with us. We entertained ourselves for the next 45 minutes and once the horses returned, we went inside for our safety briefing and instruction tutorial. We were shown how to hold the reigns (which was different from what I'd learned previously) and how to steer and bring the horses to a stop. Afterwards, we were taken out to mount up. We got mounted and adjusted and took a few practice loops around the corral before being taken onto the trail. I rode Happy, aka "The Goodest Boy!" I was told by the woman who checked us in that he was the horse she rides when she goes out on the trail. He doesn't like to lead but follows whether you want him to or not. If one horse stopped, he stopped. If I told him to stop (using the reigns of course), but the other horses were going...we went too. My middle sister rode Vanner, who I've donned "The Uncooperative Rebel". He stopped several times for snacks along the trail even when he knows he's not supposed to. Sis couldn't contain his wild, unfettered spirit. The youngest sister rode Willow aka "Priss Miss". I think she was a show horse at one point. She had a very proper and sophisticated gait and required braces for two of her ankles. Our guides, we had two for just the three of us, were very nice and kept us safe. We exchanged stories and shared laughs during our 1-hour trail ride. I chose the lake trail for the views and was a bit disappointed that there weren't many. We got a peek at the lake twice, briefly, but the wildflower fields of local flora and fauna created a truly magical setting. At one point, we were all surrounded by butterflies landing on us and the horses! It was fun, but it was hot. In the future, if we return during the Summer, it will either be for one of the morning or sunset trail rides.

Bryce is freaking awesome and makes sure you have a great time. We had the whole trail to ourselves for horseback riding (Peaches is absolutely the best horse in the world, I already miss her so much). When you think of Indiana, you think "flat, boring", but this property had cliffs and mountains and rivers and creeks all over it. Simply gorgeous. Afterwards, Bryce broke out the machines guns and silencers and we shot M16, MP5, Uzis and a Glock 18 along with our own guns. We had the entire range to ourselves and went through thousands of rounds in just a few hours. My personal favorite was the Uzi, but that Glock 18 is beyond ridiculous. An entire 35 rounds gone in less than two seconds. Literally. When you pull the trigger, it just sprays a stream of brass out the side. We got to chill and eat a delicious dinner, then came back to set up camp (again, we had the whole property to ourselves) and Bryce brought us a bunch of wood pallets to make a roaring bonfire. Much alcohol was consumed and hijinks had. This might be one of the best weekends of our lives, no kidding. Certainly the best bachelor party spot in the Midwest, hands down. Even if you're not into machine guns (which means you're crazy) you should still check this place out. It's so beautiful and it's so fun to get to take advantage of having all these goats, horses, chickens, etc. around... but someone else has to take care of them. Thanks, Bryce! We will for sure be back soon!!
