All of the dishes were very tasty but my favorite was the mango fried chicken from chef Leanne Wong. For me, it had the perfect balance of texture (crispy fried chicken vs. mango bits) and flavor (savory & sweet). My bf voted for the pipikaula from chef Jason Schoonover of 12th Ave. Grill. He said that the mango chili pepper water won him over. We tried all of the mango cocktails & my favorite was the sassy lassi (Kula Dark Rum, mango puree, honey, coconut water, lime, spices) from mixologist Jesse Suderman. My bf's favorite was the mango-cillin (whiskey, scotch, mango purée, lemon juice, ginger syrup) from mixologist Micah Suderman. There were silent auction items for bid where proceeds benefitted the KCC culinary program. Free parking with validation at Princess Kaiulani hotel across the street.

I read my Yelp buddy - Lyla D's review last year, as she went here back in 2015, and when I saw this event again........I knew it was my time to check this festival out! The event was held at the beautiful Moana Surfrider Hotel, and as you go there you will see three large banners featuring this Mango Festival Event. At the event, they had vendors who sold various types of mangoes at the Mango Farmer's Market, as well as other vendors who sold items related to this event. At the event, there was also a silent auction where you can bid for various items, like dining at a fine dining restaurant, or a hotel stay at a luxury hotel, and also bidding on some expensive booze. I believe the Mango Festival event is free to look at, but if you wanna sample da grindz...........you gotta pay by buying some food tickets. There were two ways that you can buy the food tickets............you can buy your food tickets at the door for $6.00 smackaz a piece, or you can be akamai (smart) like me, where I purchased the tickets on-line (go to - HonoluluBoxOffice.com to buy the tickets)..........If you buy on-line, you get 10 tickets for $48.00 smackaz (which comes out to $4.80 per ticket), but you gotta buy 10 tickets in increment. All proceeds will benefit the Culinary Institute of the Pacific at Kapiolani Community College, so it's for a good cause. Parking - Free Parking if you park at the Sheraton Princess Kaiulani Hotel. All you have to do is take your parking ticket with you, and as you get to the Mango Festival event, just get a validation at the registration table when you pick up your food tickets. The event ran from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM on Saturday July 15, 2016, and I must say.............. it was the perfect day to have this event, as we were blessed with wonderful weather today! Take in the view that's right here in UH...this tiny garden tucked right behind East-West Center where it must be such a calming vibe to overhear the Manoa Stream flow which is what you can hear as soon as you approach the walkway there you see a sign to bring awareness of their rules. The Garden is open daily from 7am to 6pm though do recommend coming on Sunday to find parking and of course being less crowded though be mindful that it's not a place to have your party or picnic and pets aren't allowed as well. There is a koi pond as well which sadly is quite green and not the pleasant sight to see but did appreciate the area that's open to the public to stroll but there are mosquitoes...and I got bitten quite often so be careful. I did enjoy the garden regardless though parking is the most difficult but see many folks do come on campus to stroll and see why they do so as it's just stunning and a nice view without going far...pics are some items given to me that I just had to share and I'm so grateful for wonderful friends that have been so kind to me...reflections! We contemplated on going back. We abruptly turned our car around and zoomed back to the mango farm. When we got there, I asked if we could take pictures of the mangoes without touching them. We were granted permission. To our amazement of seeing purple mangoes, we had to take photos! They had an abundance of mangoes! We felt like we were in mango heaven. We got to taste the mangoes too! We like them sweet and sour. We bought 4 since we were leaving in 2 days. We continued to take photos. The owners told us to pick a mango that was ready to be picked. It must take a lot of workers to pick all of these mangoes!!! Nevertheless, I'm glad God put this mango farm in our path. We hope you will find this mango farm. Aloha!

It's a bit warm here because of the cheerful Hawaiian sunshine... then the cool and gentle tropical trade winds lightly flow through the garden and take away all of your cares... Situated right next to the Hawaiian Garden, this Chinese Garden reminds me of my culture that my grandmother really encouraged me to embrace! What a fascinating museum!…read more I never knew this existed! But I was looking through, of all things, 101 Things to do in Hawaii and it mentioned this museum. There are some procedures you will need to follow. Groups of 5 or more need to make a reservation. They will take walk-ins, but you need to wait outside to for an officer to escort you in, and he or she will be there the whole time to answer any questions. But once inside, there is so much to look at! Much of the history of the Honolulu Police Department is located here. I learned quite a bit about its beginnings and firsts, like when women were allowed to join. Some of the artifacts are interesting too! The best part is that its free! You can spend as much time as you need, but since it was just me, I didn't want to take up the time of the kind officer. I spent about 40 minutes inside. The officer told me they had young students in earlier that day, so it is an educational experience as well! Definitely worth considering a visit! Mahalo HPD!

It's located in the heart of Honolulu at the Beretania St. main Honolulu Police Department Branch. The amount of history was just amazing. I'm big on Hawaiian history, but I just had no idea there was so much about the HPD. We spent just over an hour, but really needed about an hour and a half or two to get the full experience. The best part of this visit, was that it is 100% free. The parking is the only thing that will cost you. I just can't say enough good things about this tour and museum. It is good for young and old, but especially for those who love Hawaii and it's history. This in my book is a must do regardless if your are a resident or a visitor.
