Third time here for myself but first time taking the train. I took a tour with only a couple stops so we could spend more time here. I loved the train tour. Back at home, we always do agritainment and go to our orchards for train tours, so we had a lot of fun seeing the fruits and vegetables grow and all of the beautiful plants. We had more time to see the garden area and walk around the complex without feeling too rushed. Of course we had dole whips and bought some souvenirs. I went with a couple sweatshirts.

I woke up craving a Dole Whip today so a Dole Whip I shall have! Free will is an amazing thing. I love that this place is a short drive away from home. One of my favorite reasons of living in Wahiawa! I also love the little morenita Hello Kitty key chains! I always buy one and end up giving it away so I go back and get another one for myself. I also tried the banana glaze cashew for the first time and it was delicious! It's always a fun time visiting this plantation. It still feels like I'm on vacation mode every time I go.

The Dole Plantation remains one of those classic, nostalgic spots I never get tired of. Yes, it gets packed with tour buses, but if you time it right, it is always worth the stop! My absolute go-to move is driving up to historic Wahiawa town just to grab a cup of fresh Pineapple Dole Whip. Pro tip: you have to get it topped with the real, fresh pineapple chunks. It takes the whole treat to the next level and completely hits the spot, especially on a hot day. Aside from the treats, the plantation grounds are beautiful, well-maintained, and filled with great history. It's the perfect pit stop to stretch your legs, stretch your sweet tooth, and soak in some old-school Hawaii charm on your way up to the North Shore. Whether you're a first-time visitor or a resident looking for a classic weekend cruise, you can't skip it!

This is one of those stops that feels very "touristy Hawaii," but still worth doing at least once. The train ride was actually my favourite part because it gives you a nice easy way to see everything without overthinking it. The gardens are pleasant, but I do wish there was more fruit trees. The maze is massive. Like genuinely massive. It's fun at first but if you don't have patience, it quickly turns into frustration and I ended up bailing halfway through. The food overall was not great, but the Dole whip absolutely delivers and is worth the stop on its own. I also liked the small educational part about how pineapples can be decoratively cut and prepared because it gives the whole place a bit more meaning beyond just snacks and souvenirs.

While visiting the island of Oahu I stumbled upon the Dole Plantation again. It is one of the best places to come if you love pineapples and everything pineapple-flavored. This Dole place is literally a huge store filled with gifts to buy for people and to let them experience the pineapple life. You can even ship real pineapples! This is my second time here but overall I still had a fun experience.

Visiting Dole is a must! Anticipate the tourist lines BUT it's truly all worth it with their famous Dole Whip and tons of items to purchase! Landscape is beautiful.

Be a pineapple: Stand tall, wear a crown, and be sweet on the inside. Visiting Dole Plantation was honestly a strange mix of fun, beauty, history, and a little bit of emotional whiplash. Which, to be fair, is probably the most historically accurate way to experience a place with the word "plantation" in the name. On one hand, it's genuinely beautiful. The grounds are lush, the air smells incredible, and the pineapple everything is incredibly delicious. The Dole Whip absolutely lived up to the hype, and the gardens, train ride, and giant maze had this cheerful old Hawai'i roadside attraction energy that felt charming instead of overly polished. It was wholesome. I even saw a few adorable cats being fed by the workers. There is also this underlying awareness the entire time where your brain quietly goes, "...wait." Why? Because plantations are not cute historically. The word itself carries a lot of weight tied to colonization, labor exploitation, and the reshaping of Hawai'i for corporate agriculture and tourism. So walking through a place that's simultaneously serving pineapple soft serve while existing within that history creates a peculiar emotional duality that's hard to ignore. Honestly, I appreciated that feeling. Not because the history is good, because it absolutely isn't, but because places should make us think a little. Hawai'i is stunning but it's also layered and complicated and visiting somewhere like this becomes more meaningful when you acknowledge both the beauty and the discomfort instead of pretending one cancels out the other. The experience ended up feeling less like, "Yay pineapples!" and more like a reminder that travel is best when you let yourself enjoy the present while still respecting the history underneath it. Note: I totally destroyed a Dole Whip because personal growth, historical awareness, and pineapple soft serve with fresh pineapple can intertwine, okay?

If you're visiting Oahu for the first time, this is a must-stop destination! Whether you're a pineapple lover or just looking for a fun and relaxing experience, there's something here for everyone. The property is beautifully maintained, with gorgeous gardens to stroll through and plenty of opportunities to learn about Hawaii's famous pineapple industry. The pineapple plantation tour is informative and enjoyable, and the maze is a big hit with kids and families. I also loved that the marketplace features local artwork and products from local businesses, making it a great place to pick up unique souvenirs and support the community. There are plenty of tasty pineapple-themed treats, snacks, and lunch options to enjoy while you're there. It's the perfect quick stop while driving through the countryside--beautiful, family-friendly, and full of local charm. Definitely worth adding to your Oahu itinerary!

It's a good venue for kids. They have a gift shop and a maze. You can also feed the fish There is also a train ride for the family A good 2 hours will get you through the plantation

Busy. Beautiful. Details history of Dole. Good food. A bit more expensive than other grills/restaurants on the island.

    Christopher D.

This is obviously a tourist spot. The dole whip is awesome as expected. The scenery is nice and there's a pond to feed the koi fish. The kids loved it. The shops are cool too. I would probably skip the train ride. It was pretty boring and I couldn't wait for it to end. The kids fell asleep too. I would come here again for the dole whip!

    Ralph E.

Yes this is a tourist destination but one that you really need to visit. The shop is filled with so many food, drink and souvenirs from the Islands to purchase. They seemed super crowded when we were there. The train ride is a must and I recommend booking in advance for the Shaka ticket so you sit in the front car. There is a speaker the narrates your journey but until you are in the front car it's almost impossible to hear what they are saying. The real gem here is the local vendors outside with handcrafted items. So many beautiful and unique things there and great that you support local artists. Then lets not forget dole whip right at that dole plantation. That also is almost mandatory.

    Che L.

Really touristy location with touristy prices. Would not reccomend. Food isn't really good. All items in the store including their Sanrio dole special collection is overpriced. Normally I still might purchase a souvenir or two at a tourist shop but this place was over the top in overpriced goods. They do give samples on some of their nuts (not healthy). Side highlight is that they have some mature rainbow eucalyptus outside which are beautiful to look at.

Can you purchase pineapples to take home at the Dole Plantation?

Yes, I believe you can. I saw the option to purchase fresh pineapples in boxes to mail home. In the quantities of 2 pineapples for $56 or 7 pineapples for $88, shipping included using "UPS 2nd Day Air for delivery two days after the ship date".…

How is the parking situation? Do we have pay for parking?

Parking is free and they have a large lot there for you to park in.

Do they sell the Maui Gold pineapples (fresh) to take home on the plane?

Yes we just bought a case

Do I need to make a reservation for train ride? I tried online reservation but it is not available?

    Can small dogs come in?

I asked via email and was told no unless service animal

    Does this plantation use pesticides?

There are multiple varieties of pineapples there and they are not all organic, so more than likely yes.

How long do you think the maze would take for an 8 year old and 12 year old?

About 30min to an hour. The maze isn't hard. It's the stations that you are supposed to mark off on your map through out the maze.

Do we need to pay to enter?

Not to enter the gift shop/food area but if you want to go on the train ride to see the plantation process then yes. Sorry I forgot how much they charged. They have little pineapple plants in the free area though.

Had the Dole Whip in Disneyland many times. Is it better/fresher here or is it not worth standing in line if you've had it before?

In my opinion it tastes the same as Disneyland. So its up to you if you want to wait in line for it or not.

How long do we need there if we want to see the maze, train, etc. Do the tour groups stop here long enough to see the whole thing?

We chose to do only the train, garden and gift shop. All together we spent about 3 hours. The maze can be up to two hours long, depending upon how fast or slow you want to go. We came by our car, so I have no clue if tour buses stop long enough to…

How far from Waikiki? Can you Uber here?

You probably can. It's just going to be very expensive due to the remoteness of the area. Goodluck getting back to Waikiki too, if starting from here.

Do we need to make advance reservation for the train ride?

    No.

    Do they sell white pineapple?

If you are talking about sugarloaf pineapples you can only get those in Kauai.
