Best Filipino food in town. You have the best chefs from Pampanga, where you get the best Filipino food when in the Philippines. It is practically the Philippines in Pensacola, Florida. The staffs are very friendly, accommodating and helpful. They make you feel at home especially my family and I were just here for 1 month. Kabayan was the go to place for food. They almost have everything you need to cook your own Pancit and other Filipino food.

Merefa, is now a big let down…read more What started as the best European grocery/deli & bakery, has deflated back into just a "Great European grocer." The good news is, it's still a great European grocery. But, the owner told me he has given up on the bakery. Last time I was in, the owner, who is a very lovely man, told me he has given up on the bakery part of the business. I asked if he had any raspberry crossants and he said "No" and I asked him if he had any "Vatrushka" and he said; "No, we aren't making the Vatrushka anymore, it's just too time consuming, it's too hard, we don't have time, we weren't making any money making the Vatrushka, so we aren't making them anymore, it is what it is." He went on to tell me that he is selling a pre-packaged one from NYC & that it's pretty good, tried to sell me those, which I refused. If you don't know what "Vatrushka" is, it's "Russian Vatrushka." It's a pastry filled with farmers cheese & cow berry. Vatrushka is a staple of Russian baking. A gorgeous round, open-faced pastry with a creamy cottage cheese/farmers cheese, with a spot of beautiful purple cowberry/elderberry filling. A super luxurious pastry somewhat like a cheese danish that blends somewhere between dessert and breakfast, offering a gentle sweetness wrapped in soft, yeasted dough. Moi fave. My specialty OuiOui. I'm so very saddened to hear of anyone giving up on their business bc they can't make it work, bc it's too hard, it's too much work, not makin any profits bla bla bla. But i'm just over the moon, really excited for you, that you have decided to go the direction of deli & convenience store only, if that makes more sense for you, that's awesome, you have my blessing. And I am just over the moon excited that you have given me your blessing, that I myself or anyone may now open a Vatrushka shop here in Pensacola, since you have given up on it. Maybe when I open my art gallery here in Pensacola, I will serve my own Russian American Vatrushka. See what happens.. Unfortunately, "Merefa" has now been downgraded one star and taken off my "Best Bakeries list" but it is still one of my favorite European deli's in Pensacola & is still on my "Where are the Treasures lists for fave grocer/deli's." Will Return.

OMG!!! LOVE.THIS.MARKET!!!…read more Full Disclosure: Hubby & I LOVE this other little Mediterranean & Turkish market in Dallas, Texas, near DFW airport where hubby used to work. When we go back home to Texas we usually stop by there bc it's the only place I have ever found in Texas, that has our favorite Egyptian rice "Egypt's Best Rice" - Just FYI, That market is listed with my Review on Yelp, it's called: "Rozana Mediterranean & Turkish Market 920 S Belt Line Road coppell, TX 75019 Tue-Sat: 11:00 AM - 09:00 PM | Sun: 11:00 AM - 7:00 PM (972) 702-7374" Anyhoo, they used to have a fabulous organic Mediterranean/Turkish restaurant we ordered from at his office all the time that we LOVED, but sadly it closed during the plandemic small business economic shutdown, but the market there is still open. Anyhoo, by some rare cosmic miracle, few months ago, this same kind of awesome little Mediterranean market opened right here in Pirate'cola, near our Florida home that NOW also carries that same favorite brand of rice we love so much "Egypt's Best Rice" !!! WOOHOO!!! I have been shopping here since day one. I met the owner "Tarak" the day it opened, he was very cool & even helped me load a 50 pound bag of rice into my Range Rover. He said to me as I was leaving; "I love your Range Rover, very nice car" he was very sweet. I thanked him & even helped him load YELP onto his phone bc he didn't know what it was. He told me then, they might open a Mediterranean restaurant here as well! Yay!!! Can't wait!!! Now, every time we go into the store, he or his son ask us if there is anything we are looking for that we couldn't find or need. Awesome customer service! They have finally finished stocking up & it now has the best Mediterranean spices, speciality frozen fish, rice & grains in Pirate'cola. Plus, they carry our fave Mediterranean RICE "Egypt's Best Rice!!! We are stoked! STOKED I tell ya. Over the MOON. So happy. haha. :)) I also love that he carries in BULK the little red/green chilies that I use almost every day. They have the best prices in Pirate'cola on the little chilies. Moi also LOVES that I can find "Farine de pois chiche" here. AKA "Besan" or chickpea flour/Garbanzo flour. He even carry's fine ground & the coarse ground. WOZA! So very happy. OuiOui. Hubby & I both, our Grandfathers/Fathers, were in the Military, we have lived, worked & traveled all over the world. We both share a love for certain foods/products from places we have enjoyed that are dear to our hearts that are hard to come by. We are so grateful for this fabulous little local Market that carries lovely Asian, Indian/halal, vegan, Mediterranean & Caribbean/islander foods etc., as you can make Indian, Indo-Pacific, French, Thai, Chinese, European, African, American creole cuisine, tons of different cuisines, with ALL the fabulous extremely wide variations of ingredients this NEW Asian Grocery & halal Market carries. Word to your mother, "NEW Asian Grocery & halal" market's concept is the Mother load of variety & spices from all over the world. Just as we are all from the same worldly mother, Mother Earth. Support your Mother. Highest Recommendations.
