It has been completely gutted. Even the ceiling studs are apparent. They have put up clever lighting but it is quite evident the theatre is going through transition. Some old theatre chairs, some church pews, some folding chairs. ( Not for the faint of heart) Upon entering we were greeted my a gentleman in full Army field attire. As I look back he reminded me of a character from MASH, Radar. The show was made up of two very talented singer/dancers. They changed costumes throughout the performance, added historic dialogue and were very entertaining They recognized past Military in the audience with a handshake and a hug They sang songs and acted out various areas of the country representing the whole nation They included the Viet Nam war and had a radio which played news clips of that era. The Main Stage offers auditorium style seating. Stage 2 is more of an intimate setting that is primarily made up of four top tables and higher bar top seating. In both cases, if you want to feel as if your on stage, the front row will but you extremely close to the action. There is a small concession stand that offers drinks, including beer and wine, and snacks for cash prior to entering. Tips to keep in mind: **Seating for both stages is first come first serve, so make sure to arrive early if you wish to have all of your party sitting together. ***The main restroom is down a flight of stairs. They do have a single restroom on the top level near the main stage; however, it may or may not have a "Cast" sign **If you don't have time to visit their box office, they do use Vendini online ticketing, which will charge you a small fee. ***Parking - It's Mass Ave, so parking can be hard to come by. It's hard to imagine that anyone doesn't know ISO, though I'll confess that even I don't go to their concerts often enough. Every time I do, I'm overjoyed. So, the basics. ISO is Indiana's largest nonprofit performing arts organization with over 200,000 people attending their concerts and educational programs annually. A 12-month season includes around 150 concerts, though they're far from limited to their Monument Circle home (they are based out of Hilbert Circle Theatre, though they're likely just as known for their Conner Prairie shows and their educational programs like Metropolitan Youth Orchestra, Teddy Bear Series, Discovery concerts (kids grade 3-6), and others. ISO was founded in 1930 and is getting psyched up to celebrate its 100th anniversary. They have central values of Inspiration, Unity, Integrity, and Stewardship. If you've ever been to Circle Theatre, or any of their concerts really, you know they emphasize accessibility to music and to their shows (I will admit I have had a couple concerns with the Conner Prairie shows and accessibility). The musicians are not just immensely talented, but it's often quite the joy seeing them interact with audiences - and I love watching educational programs. From stunning classical music to pop culture integration (like the Star Wars shows), I love the creativity and just plain fun of these concerts. Truly, truly truly...ISO is one of Indy's true treasured non-profits.

I volunteer usher at over a dozen venues all very happy with me. I am on time, do my job, am friendly with the patrons & tidy up the venue after shows. The whole night kept moving smoothly between drinks, food service, and the murder mystery itself, which made it so much fun. I loved that more than half the guests got speaking parts, which made it really interactive and engaging. The hosts were so friendly, kind, and professional, and the service was excellent. This was my first time visiting Marian's theater. It is nice and clean. The view from my seat was…read moregood. The chairs were comfortable. The stage is large. The theater was a bit warm, but it was explained that the boiler had been turned on due to the cold weather but this particular day was in the 60s. The production, sound, and lighting were good. There is small cash only concession stand ran by the students. The lobby is small, but there is a ticket and will call counter. I have another concert here a few weeks. I'm glad Marian University and the community arts are working together.

Admission to the summer outdoor show is free and unreserved, and you don't have to bring your own chairs, as the ampitheatre includes seats. Last year, I saw their performance of Romeo and Juliet; this year, they did Julius Caesar. They're an amateur company, and it's a labor of love, but the shows are quite good (especially for free outdoor Shakespeare!) The actors are also well mic'd, which means that you should be able to hear them even if you're sitting near the back. They're also putting on some less commonly performed shows (such as Richard II in spring 2018), which is very exciting. Check them out in the spring and summer!
