Dr. Mike has been a kind and caring doctor and has always listened to me. I also had a very good relationship with the dental hygienists Amy and Michelle. They were both very professional, caring and easy to communicate and deal with. When Amy was there I was going 3 times a year for cleaning and scaling. Amy mentioned that I take very good care of my teeth (I know I do) and that if I wanted I could cut my appointments down to twice a year. I've done this for a number of years now. On a visit in October I was told that Michelle was no longer there and that there was a new hygienist taking her place. On this visit she asked questions like what kind of toothbrush do I use? Do you floss your teeth? Do you drink tea or coffee? I thought this is a different line of questioning but I put it down to my being overly sensitive and a new hygienist getting used to a new patient. In April I was in again for another cleaning. The new hygienist asked me the same questions that she did on the last visit. I was getting rather annoyed at this point. After she finished the cleaning she informed me that she would be taking some pictures. When I asked why she had to take pictures, as she had not told me why, she informed me that my insurer wanted the pictures taken. I asked why? She told me that she had told my insurer she required more time to clean my teeth and that they had requested the pictures. After she took the pictures she told me that I should start scheduling my appointments for every 3 months. I informed her that this was not going to happen and felt it was completely unnecessary. Should she not have discussed this with me before going to the insurer to request a quote for the additional service? I am a senior and I may not be as tolerant as I used to be. However, I just feel that this situation was not handled particularly well and left me feeling somewhat like a recalcitrant child who is incapable of understanding what my needs are. Life is too short for this sort of nonsense. I did not like feeling stressed as I did when I left after my last appointment. The dentist has been great but I'm uncomfortable dealing with his hygienist.

Nurses don't know how to operate the glitchy cumbersome x-ray machine and had to irradiate me twice with x-rays while putting me in a very awkward position. I know I don't; however, I have to give it up to the staff at East West Dental. I needed to go in for some dental and was referred by a friend. I'm a student, and I did not know what exactly was going to be covered but the front desk staff figured that out for me even more I came in. So I walked into the office and there was no issue, I was greeted and took a seat. As I waited (I did come in early) they had the game on the TV in the lobby so it wasn't bad. I went in to see Dr. Manku and the visit went great. He explained everything he was going to do before he got to work, he took his time, and made a point to make sure that I wasn't in discomfort. All in all, the experience that began over the phone when I booked my appointment to the actual visit was great and professional. I will be coming back to see Dr. Manku again.
