Rooms are comfortable, we had a nice view of the morning hot air balloons, and they have some nice cats out in front. Their own parking lot, that's helpful. The immediate surrounding area is a bit blighted, but we actually like to see how people live in an area so that was a bit of a plus for us. Although the owner will happily set you up with a tour guide, you really don't need one, instead what you need is Rick Steves' guide book, or one of the other better guide books (Lonely Planet, National Geographic) and read up on Hieropolis before you go. You want to avoid the tour guides, the groups are annoying, the guides either make stuff up or have memorized the rather good descriptions posted and available on the government sponsored audio tour. We liked the sparser crowd in the off season though it is very cold in January. Don't be scared off by the one negative review on Trip Advisor, the author of that diatribe was clearly describing a different hotel. Trust me instead, this is a good choice for visiting Hieropolis.
