What a gem for this neighborhood! Came here with family and ordered Pork sisig, Lechon kawali, empanadas, pork and shrimp siomai, Bicol Express, and lumpiang gulay (Vegetable Lumpia). We were hungry after an afternoon of pickle ball The place is clean and there's plenty of comfortable seating. We came during dinner time and it wasn't too busy, but started to pick up after we sat down. The server wasn't exactly warm and welcoming. She seemed rather annoyed, but that didn't ruin our experience. The food was mostly delicious! There's a few things on the menu that was off target. The empanadas smelled gamey, almost like the meat used was not fresh. There's pork siomai was rather bland, even the chili oil couldn't being more flavor to it. The pork sisig was so good, but they buried a raw egg in the middle. The sizzling plate they served it in was not nearly hot enough to cook that egg so it was questionable. The lechon kawali was great, byt could use a little more flavor. My favorite is the Bicol express. It was perfectly balanced. read more

I have not ever tried Filipino food before so I stopped in at Kainan for a late lunch with my BFF, me. It was mid-afternoon and no crowd. The vibe was relaxing with soothing lighting. My server was pretty cool and very sweet and helpful. I started with an app of Lumpiang Gulay, spring rolls with dipping sauces. Out of the three sauces, I liked two. They were sweet and tangy. My entree was Pancit Guisado with chicken and it was soooo delicious! The chicken was seasoned and cooked perfect, I love noodles and the pancit noodles were the best. I had trouble deciding between the Pancit and BBQ Pork but compromised with myself that I will come back for the BBQ Pork. I just have to pretend I never came here before cause I'll be bringing my husband next time. I definitely enjoyed my experience and palette and look forward to coming back. My friend and I decided to check out the new Filipino restaurant Kainan, located where Bones BBQ used to be in the Arrowhead area. The ambience was good with a family friendly atmosphere. The service was friendly and attentive. We tried the Lumpiang appetizer that has a nicely seasoned pork filling for an and they were crispy and delicious with a nice dipping sauce. Lumpiang remind me of Asian spring rolls. For entrees we ordered Chicken Adobo - a garlicky chicken thigh entree, Pancit Guisado - a noodle dish and we chose with chicken and shrimp for the protein option and we also ordered Beef Fried Rice. We really enjoyed the food and they give you very generous portions. I've had Filipino food before and this was on par with Filipino cuisine restaurants I've visited elsewhere. Our only negative comment is the chicken adobo was too salty as they could've balanced the flavors on the soy sauce based sauce that accompanies the dish better but overall it was a great meal and we'll be back. read more

Okay, so the food we did get was good. Beyond that, we will not be returning. Here's our visit and experience: We were sat right away-awesome They attempted to take our order right away- awesome. Remember I said attempted? The guy who was helping us couldn't find the table or something in their handheld POS system and had to go somewhere to fix it or grab a different one. So attempt 2 of ordering our meal. He took it, read it back. All good! Yay! We're hungry and excited to try the meal. Then we had to after maybe 5/10 mins have to give our order again because "it didn't print out in the kitchen" . Weird. If it didn't print out, why couldn't you print it again, it's in the system? Nope had to renter the whole order. Boom done. A while later, maybe 5/6 mins later, he's back. They don't have one of the appetizers so we ordered one of the others. Okay awesome. Then we wait. And waited. Waited some more. Finally we got 1 of the appetizers. Wait some more. Wait a bit more oh here's one of the bottled waters we ordered. Still waiting for the iced tea since I was just water. Waiting. Oh look two tables just got sat. Wait. Oh ... wow they got their appetizer already... wonder where our other appetizer is. Wait Other table got their appetizerS. We finally got ONE of the FOUR entrées. We flag down a different waiter than ours. Let him know we are waiting for a drink, an appetizer, and the other meals. He goes and tells our waiter. My seafood soup shows up. That's it. We then are starving. So three people shared the pork adobo that did show up and the soup. Soup isn't easy to share, so they got any veggies they could scoop out and I had the shrimp. Then an appetizer got dropped off at the table. Yay! ... Nevermind, we'll eat it and be happy, even though this isn't the other appetizer we ordered. Now mind you at this point the other two tables I mentioned before, one is completely done with their meal, dessert included, and the other one is done and paying. It's not like they had little meals, they had several plates. We as a table were over it. We asked for our waiter and asked for the bill. Then had to remind him what didn't get, and after deleting all of those were done, paid (you pay at the table) and when we got our coats on and were leaving the table, here come two meals we'd ordered. We kindly told this guy (who had seemed to be been trying to 'clean up the mess' behind our waiter) we took them off the bill and are heading out. Him and the one lady with curly long hair both seemed so apologetic. We said it was all good and headed out. It was so disappointing. And after we had paid for our bill, we heard a family one table away from us tell their waiter that they hadn't gotten X, Y, Z and for them to take that off their bill. Food and service was awesome, excited to go back again! Ordered pork sisig, palabok, ube flan (highly recommend). Sisig was so good, it was different from what I grew up on as far as the cut but I very much enjoyed it. Palabok was very flavorful and it literally hit the spot. I haven't had sisig or palabok for over a year and a half so I'm happy I have something close by (1hr 30min) to eat some home style food. read more

Very attentive and friendly service. Everyone asks if you need Anything and they are quick to bring it to you. Their food is obviously made with care. We ordered the sisig, beef steak and adobong pusit. They were all very good and came with fluffy white rice. We waited and waited after we sat down. The wait staff was unorganized. It took 20 minutes to just order. One out of three people at our table got their food, mine came out 20 minutes later, and the 3rd came out 15 minutes later. The waitress blamed the POS program. I was hoping they would just grab a piece of paper and pen and take orders the old fashioned way. The menu wasn't descriptive.
