My case concerned a blended family trust which, as I've learned, can be thorny and fractured affairs. I was co-trustee of the trust and I genuinely don't know if I would have made it through the experience with my sanity intact without Lori. She's incredibly smart, knows Florida law inside and out, and was creative in finding solutions when hope seemed lost. But most of all she was available when I needed her. In my regular life I have reason to deal with lawyers from time to time. If you want to feel true frustration, try dealing with an attorney who you can't get on the phone. Lori was there for me. 75% of the time she'd take my call right away. If not, she'd get back to me within a few hours. Lori's also an incredibly fun and interesting person. Probate cases require a lot of phone calls and emails. Better to go through it with someone whom you like and appreciate as a human being. Don't underestimate the importance of that. On the flip side, when hard ball needed to be played, she played hard ball. She was fierce when we got into the end game of my ordeal and in the end we came out with a very strong result. I guess the amount of the dispute was not enough for them, which frankly is perfectly understandable - it's a business after all - but they were extremely rude and unprofessional about it. My case was that I was terminated and the employer never paid me my last paycheck as well as other money I was owed. I came in for an initial consultation and they agreed to take my case. I was told they would send a demand letter and I would hear from them as the case proceeded. Five months later I hadn't heard anything, so I called them to ask what was going on. They told me to come into their office, where they revealed the employer had sent an extremely nasty response to the demand letter making it clear they were going to fight it. Oh, good to know! Would have been nice if someone had mentioned that sooner! At that point I had to make the decision whether the money I was owed was worth the fight. Since I didn't know what to expect - since I'm, you know, not a lawyer, nor a habitual litigator - I asked the attorney assigned to my case. My specific question was, "Is fighting this going to require subpoenaing everybody I worked with?" This seemed like a pretty reasonable question. My industry is very small in Miami and everybody knows each other. If fighting the case is going to mean roping everybody into some slugfest and airing my dirty laundry for all to see, it could easily just tank my whole career, whether I win or not. When I asked this question, my attorney responded "Uh, yeah, that's how lawsuits work." Maybe that's obvious to a lawyer but I AM NOT A LAWYER - YOU ARE MY LAWYER THAT IS WHY I HIRED YOU. I told them that I needed to think about it. A few days later I wrote them and asked them what the statute of limitations for my case was, and explained that I felt like time was on our side and the longer we wait the better our position will be (this was on the advice of another lawyer friend, not just some bone-headed idea I cooked up). Well, that was it for them. Instead of a response to my email, I received a letter in the mail explaining in boilerplate language that they were no longer representing me. Most of the letter was dedicated to pointing out that they were in no way liable for anything else that happened to my case from that point on. I decided not to fight the case after that. The employer that stole from me (a few thousand dollars) got away with it. Thanks Remer & George-Pierre! My impression was that they didn't want me to think for myself. They wanted me to be driven by pure emotion and push the case forward without thinking about the collateral damage and without questioning their advice. The moment it became clear I wasn't going to do that they dropped me like a hot potato.

First of all, he asked me to pay $10k for representation, of which I paid $5k as down payment. I didn't know any better and I was desperate, so I didn't shop around and went ahead. Now I know that he charged me 4 or 5 times more than he should have! However, I went ahead and started the process hoping to reach a deal with the other party and finish everything quickly. During the first month, instead of actually making the deal with the accuser and/or the prosecutor, he didn't even manage to meet with either of them. Every time I asked for an update, he said that "he was waiting for them to call him back". In addition, he allowed the prosecutor's assistant to add an extra charge to the case, which made things even worse for us. During this time, beside a couple of letters to the court and a couple of visits to jail, he didn't do much, he just waited for things to happen. When my son was moved from criminal to immigration jail, I asked Alfredo Izaguirre to find out where he is, and he told me that "he doesn't know how to find that out". I searched in Google myself and found out quickly where he was! One time, to my surprise, Alfredo decided by himself to set up a court date for my son to plead guilty because he thought this was the best way to finish the case quickly!! Why that happened is a mystery to me, which I obviously told him and he then canceled it! I fired him eventually and hired someone else who already spoke to both the accuser and the prosecutor, and I am hoping to finish this situation soon. It's sad that I have to write these things, but I do it with the hope that others will not have the same experience. I am giving him 2 stars and not 1 because he actually replied to my texts and emails quickly, although not providing any useful information. I recommend to anyone who plans to hire Alfredo Izaguirre to be very careful as you may end up in the same situation. And please believe me, it's not pleasant!
