It has a generic institutional look so typical since the last fourth of the 20th century.  So much clear glass must trap huge amounts of heat from rays of the intense summer sun which must mean much pollution creatIng energy has to be expended to cool its interior. Not exactly a building meeting zero emission standards in the new age of global warming.  January - April 2022: Exhibition of Works by Marc Steven Greenfield is a must-see. It addresses in a very deft way racism as witnessed and experienced by a Black Man in America in a new, sophisticated, novel light. He raises questions about race, equality, inequality, retribution, and possible reconciliation. His mastery in many different styles proves that he is a meister artist capable of manipulating the media into thought provoking questions often done by confronting and "owning" negative, insulting stereotypes of Blacks on canvas.   In another method, he places Blacks in the style of Catholic icons of the Virgin & Baby Jesus and the Pietà where Virgin Mary cradles the dead Jesus. In the background there are scenes of racist Nazi's receiving just retribution for their horrendous acts against humanity.  There is even an iconic portrait of Yasukè (yah soo keh), who was a Sub-Saharan Black African, who served as a high ranking Samurai in 16th century Japan during the Warring States period, in high Japanese military regalia.    Marc Steven Greenfield is well informed about history, culture, religion, politics, race and synthesizes a powerful brew that if we drink it, it gives us food for thought....Why are we so hung up on the color of our skin?  It's another indictment that we humans are the strangest of all animals.  Be sure to see Mr. Greenfield's interview in the small side projection room. The second floor is dedicated to "What would you say?",  Activist Graphics from LACMA: It's a melange of graphics by various artists depicting Disco Singer Sylvester as Gay or even alluding at a Trans Woman. Black Man in white Ku Klux Klan dress is tongue in cheek, sarcastic humour ridiculing white supremacy.  Series of repeating prints of a woman with the title of "I will not be Assimilated." as though she is threatened by the Borg which, in fact, is our own conformist society.  Esoteric reference to Royal Crown Hair Dressing and showing a woman wearing a dress decorated with a woman showing a big butt seems humourous in line with rap songs idolizing ample derrière.  Another great thing about MOAH is that it's free. You only need to give out your resident zip code. Great way to spend an afternoon creating new, cerebral, synaptic connections.  There are two other associated museums nearby:  Western Hotel Museum and Cedar Center for the Arts Museum. We also like that they allow food and drinks inside. It makes the space feel relaxed and comfortable, like a second home where kids can create freely. This was important to me. Jeanine took the time to listen to what I was looking for and suggested a few things to help grow my idea. I loved that. She came over and was so kind and really took time to understand this was more than just a job; this was something my kid is going to grow up with. She took measurements, and even took color swatches of the carpet and furniture to make sure we matched the color palette! She quickly mocked something up and a few days later I had a photoshopped mockup for approval. Once we approved it we setup a date and I paid the deposit. Marcus was the artist that was assigned to this project. He was so kind and wonderful in my home. He let my wife and I peek and see progress, and would check in with me if he had any questions. He's a really talented artist and executed my vision faithfully. At the end of the day my wife cried (with joy), we have our incredible mural and I couldn't recommend this company enough. Really pleased with how it turned out and I will be calling them again for my next mural or art project.

How many years will Gorman let this field go unattended? I understand there may be a lack of funding. Also, there is no microwaves available to students to have hot lunches. This is possibly due to state regulations. When will Gorman address this? No worries because on campus learning is completely optional. Furthermore, it seems that Gorman learning center is turning into a brick-and-mortar style school system which will perhaps develop into overpopulated classrooms if they keep letting students enroll. I understand on campus course and activities are optional tho.....No worries Well, if your considering Gorman Learning Center you're on the right track, as there are more benefits to this establishment than my own selfish and perhaps petty gripes. And I painted murals inside the shop. My artwork was carelessly dropped on the floor and broken (frame) and I was not treated nicely at all when I wanted them to pay for the repairs. The women who run the shop are rude and scary. I was renting a space there but I was viciously kicked out for no good reason. The only thing that I am truly upset about is this: I hand painted a large mural in the shop and I was kicked out so fast and so viciously that I did not have a chance to paint over it. And the president of the place managed to either somehow scrub off or paint over my signature. Of my art. There are a few nice people there. But mostly bad vibes. SHE REMOVED MY SIGNATURE FROM MY ART. Oh! AND! During an art show opening event, they put yellow caution tape across my booth and my friend's booth to prevent us from making any sales. And they tell customers they are doing construction. Not true.
