They are kind, knowledgeable, and supportive, but the front office and administrative side has been consistently frustrating. The administrative staff is disorganized and unprofessional. They frequently mix up appointment times, give conflicting information, and make even simple tasks feel unnecessarily difficult. They don't use email or an online portal to send updates, test results, or appointment confirmations, which makes it almost impossible to keep track of anything. Everything has to be done by phone, and the communication is often curt or dismissive. Another major frustration is that any time I need bloodwork, I have to schedule a completely separate appointment with a third-party lab instead of being able to do it in-office. This makes routine prenatal care far more inconvenient than it needs to be. I really wanted to have a good experience here, especially since the clinical care from the midwives has been positive, but the front-office management has caused so much stress and confusion that I'm choosing to switch practices. I hope they improve their administrative processes and communication in the future.

Their office is very welcoming and cute and it feels like you're hanging out in a living room and not in a medical setting which was great for my medical anxiety. My review is so low because of my final experience here where we found out my baby was measuring larger than expected. Not a big deal and wasn't a huge concern to me even if that was the case, but the way the information was delivered to me was extremely insensitive and unprofessional. Dr. Sharma told me that she "hoped that was the case for my pelvis' sake" followed by a chuckle when I mentioned that the measurements could possibly be off and that I'd handle the issue with my provider. That was the last sentence that I heard before I went into labor and it completely wrecked my brain going into it and made it way more difficult mentally than it needed to be because I had this underlying doubt and fear that I could not deliver my baby naturally (I did, by the way!) A chuckle after saying that is the last thing a very pregnant and emotional/sensitive mom, who is nervous about labor already, wants to hear from a medical professional. And it's something I might've expected from a typical ultrasound location, but I really expected more thoughtful and compassionate wording and care from this location. I hesitate to say I'd come back to this provider in the future because of how badly it affected me and threw me off.

It was a great experience. I look forward to our next visit.

Immediately I knew his bedside manner was lacking but the second he slapped the ultrasound on me he basically gasped exclaiming that I had an "enormous" fibroid and was shocked that my OB hadn't noticed it. He labeled me high risk, pushed for more genetic testing despite me telling him I already had it covered by insurance elsewhere and the worst part, he declared I would not make it past 24 weeks. We left devastated. Im grateful my OB was not an alarmist and after reviewing the scans she told me that the fibroid was in a place that posed no threat. I ended up changing course entirely and chose an incredible midwife, delivered at 32 weeks, at home with zero complications and have a perfectly healthy child. This man ruined a solid chunk of my pregnancy because of his high risk tunnel vision. Avoid at all costs.

He had a great bedside manner, said ' there is nothing wrong with this baby's head' and helped me get my gestational diabetes blood sugar numbers in order, so even though nothing was wrong with my baby's head I am so glad that I went here! He continued to see me until the week before I had my baby girl. Thank you, Dr and staff! You all are wonderful and I am so grateful.

The way this office dealt with something so common for so many women has made me rethink using this office again for any future pregnancies. The front office staff was rude, impatient and used condescending language as I navigated making follow up appointments for my miscarriage. When I finally saw Dr. Pattamakom to discuss my follow-up ultrasound results, it was via a Zoom appointment. She didn't have her camera on, was unaware of what the appointment was for before logging on and hadn't looked at any of my ultrasound results prior to the meeting. It ended with "Yeah, it looks like this was a miscarriage. Were you trying?" I was stunned to say the least. I am naturally a pretty emotionally stable person. However, I was shocked, frustrated and just so disappointed by the lack of empathy, guidance and professionalism I experienced. I assumed that an OB's office would have protocol in place to make the common, confusing and delicate situation that miscarriage is easier and less painful for their patients. This is not the case. On a very positive note, I do have to say that Cedar Wilkening is one of the best care providers I've ever had and is the only reason I am considering seeing this office again in the future. She is the one thing this office has going for them!

My first birth was at her birthing center, & my second was at home. Both of these experiences were life changing for me. First, because they made me a mother. But second, because Karni helped me to realize what natural birth could be, & that I didn't have to be afraid of what my body could do. I feel blessed to have connected with her when I was pregnant with my first & didn't know what kind of birth I wanted - I just knew I didn't want what the western world has normalized for births, unless interventions became absolutely necessary. The first day I visited her birthing center, my mind had been made up & I knew I would give birth there. She told me to visit several midwives/birthing centers so I could make an informed decision but secretly I never did... best decision I've ever made. Me & my husband are forever grateful that she's our midwife & we look forward to birthing all of our future babies within her orb of power, however many we are blessed to have!

We toured the office and both decided before we even left we wanted Sue to be my midwife. I always felt so cared for each & every visit. I never felt like I was supposed to be doing better than I was, Sue always assured me I'm doing exactly what I need to be doing. Even when some issues arose as they do, Sue was always quick to handle things and again make me feel so cared for and that she was always on my team. My birth didn't even go remotely as planned as the baby had other ideas and once again Sue was there by my side. She was with me through my 17 hour labor, 5 hours of pushing and 2 hour c section. She was in the room when my son met his father for the first time and she was the second person to hold him - she sang him happy birthday . I would not have wanted anyone else to be my care provider, she spoke up to the staff at VCMC & constantly pushed for my birth plan even if at the end it didn't work out that way. But again Sue made me feel that all was ok and exactly how it needed to happen and that I did everything I could have. Sue we love you so much!

Sue is the caring, kind and most knowledgeable care provider I have ever encountered. She thinks outside of the box, listens and respects your ideas and opinions, makes you feel loved and safe throughout your entire pregnancy and most importantly during your delivery. When COVID happened I knew I did not want to deliver in a hospital and after delivering my 3rd child unmediated but in a hospital I knew a birth center birth was what I wanted. I have been fortunate to labor through my last two pregnancies with Sue and most recently delivered my 5th baby at the birth center. Sue never made me feel like a nuisance even when I text her about a million times with questions throughout my pregnancy. She welcomed my entire family to our prenatal appointments and all my kids loved going because the environment was so warm and family friendly. She connected me with the most amazing specialists when needed and make recommendations based on my needs. She encouraged me on the days I felt terrible and checked in on me and my family even after the birth. My birth was the most amazing and beautiful and redeeming experience thanks to Sue and her staff. If you have ever even slightly considered midwifery care or a birth center birth; Sue is your gal! Myself and my family consider Sue a part of our own family now and we will never be able to thank her enough for all that she has done for us!

Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Dr. Pinheiro. My surgery was scheduled a week out, and today's pre-op appointment was supposed to prepare me for it. After waiting 30 minutes on telehealth, I called the office and was told she had an emergency C-section. I completely understand emergencies happen, but I was never called, no voicemail was left, and this was not the first time I had an issue. Out of the four appointments I had with her, she was more than 20 minutes late to two and didn't show up at all for the last. When I spoke with the manager, I explained that I felt nervous and uneasy about moving forward with surgery because I hadn't been able to go over what labs/test needed to be done. I felt brushed aside as a patient. Instead of reassuring me, I was told Dr. Pinheiro was willing to pass along my records to a new provider. I was still willing to proceed and was scheduled to speak with her, but right as I logged in, the manager called back to say Dr. Pinheiro was no longer comfortable performing my surgery because I had expressed discomfort. In other words: if you speak up for yourself, this doctor may refuse your care--even if you've been in pain and bleeding for months. That is exactly what happened to me. I now have to start over with a new provider while still in discomfort.
