From my very first prenatal appointment through postpartum care, every midwife made me feel heard, respected, and genuinely cared for. As a first time mom, I had countless questions, and this team always answered them with patience, kindness, and without judgment. A special thank you to Midwife Angela, who delivered our son. Throughout my labor, she demonstrated an incredible balance of clinical skill, calm confidence, and compassion. When I became dehydrated and experienced cervical swelling that was actually working against dilation, she carefully monitored both me and my baby and allowed us the time and space we needed at the birth center rather than rushing interventions. She diligently checked our baby's heart rate throughout labor and remained calm and reassuring every step of the way. When it came time to push, there was a moment when our baby's heart rate dropped significantly. Angela calmly encouraged me to give one strong push, and with that push, our son entered the world safely. It's a moment I'll never forget, and I'm incredibly grateful for her guidance and expertise. After delivery, I needed stitches for a tear, and Angela repaired them with such care and gentleness. Even during one of the most physically demanding experiences of my life, she managed to keep the atmosphere light with her wonderful sense of humor, which helped me more than she probably realizes. I'm also so thankful for Midwife Tiffany, who came during the hardest part of my labor to offer encouragement and then to welcome our baby into the world. I chose Pure Births Birthing Center because I deeply valued the philosophy of midwife-centered, holistic, and family-focused care. The environment and overall mission of the center truly resonated with me, and I appreciated the calm, natural approach they strive to provide. One of the most positive aspects of my experience was working with student midwife Alysia. I intentionally chose to have her present during my labor because she made me feel safe, supported, and emotionally grounded. Her presence was comforting, encouraging, and compassionate throughout a very vulnerable time, and I am genuinely grateful for the care she provided. I also loved the courses being offered for birth, breastfeeding, and postpartum. Everyone i've met was so sweet and kindhearted. I labored at home for most of the early process and arrived at the birth center around 4:35 AM at 6 cm dilated, ready to continue laboring. Nurse midwife Angela was the on-call midwife overseeing Alysia. Early on, Angela mentioned that she had attended a birth the night before and was exhausted. While I understand that birth work is demanding, hearing this during my own labor created underlying anxiety and made me feel as though my experience might be influenced by fatigue -- something that, as a laboring mother, felt outside of my control and not something I should have had to carry emotionally in that moment. As labor progressed, I began to feel that my experience was becoming rushed despite there being no emergent medical concerns. This was my first pregnancy, and I was already navigating the physical intensity, emotional vulnerability, and uncertainty that come with first-time labor. Some comments made during labor felt discouraging rather than empowering, and I noticed that as Angela became more involved, my confidence declined and my labor felt less supported and more pressured. There was a particularly difficult moment when Angela attempted to assist with pushing using manual support internally with my consent. During this, I had an involuntary knee-jerk reaction and accidentally kicked. Instead of reassurance or redirection, the response focused heavily on her personal safety, and I was told that if the movement continued, I could be transferred. This occurred while I was actively laboring, in pain, and emotionally vulnerable. I found myself repeatedly apologizing for something that was clearly accidental and reflexive, which left me feeling ashamed, distressed, and unsupported during a moment when compassion was especially needed. Additionally, being asked questions about past sexual assault during active labor felt unexpected and emotionally jarring given the timing and intensity of the situation. As a nurse myself, I tried to remain understanding and rationalize the intent behind the questions and responses, but emotionally it contributed to my discomfort and sense of vulnerability. Another significant source of stress was feeling as though there was a time pressure placed on my labor, including comments suggesting that if birth did not occur by a certain timeframe approaching midnight, transfer would be necessary. This created a sense of failure and defeat, making me feel as though my body was not performing adequately rather than feeling supported through a normal first-time labor process. I truly believe that with more patience, reassurance, and time, my birth experience may have unfolded differently. I want to emphasize that this review is not meant to discredit anyone's clinical skills. I believe Angela is likely very knowledgeable and experienced in her field. However, bedside manner, emotional safety, and communication profoundly shape a birth experience, and in my case, I felt rushed, discouraged, and emotionally unsupported at times. In contrast, Alysia remained incredibly compassionate and reassuring. She comforted me, encouraged me to trust my body, and reminded me that if I felt the urge to push or return, I would not be turned away. Her support helped me feel seen and cared for during a moment when I was questioning myself. It took me over a year to write this review because I struggled with denial, self-blame, and not wanting to place fault on anyone. Birth is deeply personal, and processing a difficult emotional experience takes time. Ultimately, I am sharing this in hopes that future patients feel emotionally safe, unrushed, and fully supported regardless of staffing fatigue or scheduling challenges. A laboring mother should never feel like a burden or that time is working against her during a normal birth process. I had such a beautiful experience with Pure Births. From my very first appointment, I felt cared for and supported. That first visit was about an hour long, and afterwards each appointment was around 30 minutes. just the right amount of time where the midwives never rush you, but really take the time to make sure every test is done correctly and that you're healthy and well throughout your pregnancy. In march 2024 I had my second child which was my first birth with pure births-I had a pretty magical delivery, my midwife Angela was everything I could have hoped for and I really am so thankful for the experience I had. Now in December 2025 I found myself back at pure births having my third child and somehow my birthing experience was even better this time. My midwife was Tracy and she was truly exceptional. I had the best birth! My first child was born in a hospital so I can compare a hospital birth to a natural birth and I would recommend a birth at pure births over and over. Both my births at pure births went past 41 weeks and all the staff at pure births always stayed positive and did everything in their power to get me to deliver before 42 weeks. Both times Tiffany was at some of my final appointments and reassured me that everything was going to work out. I really wanted a birth center birth or home birth, but it was starting to look impossible after I moved to the Long Beach area because of cost and availability. We cannot thank the entire staff at Pure Births enough for our experience in bringing our 3rd baby into the world! We're both nurses by background and our first 2 kids were born in the hospital. However, I've always told my husband that if we were to have another child, I would like to experience an out-of-hospital birth to see the differences of everything we knew from our previous births and our own careers. Our experience at Pure Births was everything we imagined and more! From the prenatal appointments to the labor and delivery itself, everything went so smoothly considering we had insurance issues most of our pregnancy. Yet the staff was always so helpful in making sure that our care was covered and answered all of our questions thoroughly. The labor and delivery room was so relaxing and spa-like and I loved that I could eat, drink and move around during the laboring hours! It was very different from being stuck on machines, hooked up to an IV and unable to move in bed in my previous hospital experiences. I also fulfilled my dream of having a water birth and although it was a pain I've never experienced before (since I had epidurals for my first 2), it was a beautiful way to birth our baby! Because of the midwives encouraging words and their presence through the whole thing, I had full confidence that I could do it. Being a media team now, we're also grateful that they allowed us to set up our tripod to record our entire birthing experience. This was my second time giving birth in a birthing center and my labor progressed quickly after waking up early, and my water broke at home. Luckily, my husband rushed us to Pure Births , and we made it just in time - literallv, a few minutes later and our baby would've been born in the car, or outside the steps to the center. Once we arrived Tiffanv Gallo LM, CPM, was so amazing, having the birth tub ready and waiting. I had the most wonderful experience at Pure Births! From the moment I walked in for the info session and tour I knew I was in the right place and that I would be birthing my baby there. I didn't even felt the need to look into any other birthing center. I transferred my care from an OBGYN to Pure Births a little after I was 20 weeks pregnant and they helped me make sure all the paperwork was completed quickly and smoothly. I felt cared for and supported by everybody at Pure Births through each prenatal and postnatal appointment. I literally cannot imagine how I would have gotten through my pregnancy without them. They listened to my every little worry, reassured me that everything was okay, and encouraged my preference of wholistic care. Pure Births also works with a lactation consultant and a childbirth educator that provide classes at their facility to help you be prepare for when your baby comes - these classes were so informative and they helped me feel lees nervous about becoming a new mom and breastfeeding my baby. The first day with them I felt heard & cared for, they were all so welcoming from Kayla to all the midwives there, not to mention their establishment is beautiful! My wife is due in less than two months. She is very busy at work, stressed, and working long hours so she relies on me to help her with many things. She said "Honey, please call them and I ask them these questions for me." I found the Pure Births website and loved what I read and saw. I called Pure Births and they told me "I'm sorry we can only talk to the patient." So I called my wife at work and told her what they said. She started crying due to the stress of the situation and hormones. She said "I don't have a lot of time to figure this out on my own." Thought we had found the "the place" for our daughter's birth, but apparently not. I'm sure they have what they think is a good reason for their policy, but as a potential customers, it's not our job to care or worry about why, we just want to be taken care of. Update: The owner responded to my original review, so here's my response. Please don't patronize me with a hollow apology and a phony response. At the time of my call, you had no information about my wife because she wasn't a patient, so there was nothing for you to share with me that could violate HIPAA. In fact, I am the one who holds all of her relevant medical information, not you. HIPAA is designed to protect a patient's privacy, but it doesn't prevent me from sharing my wife's information with you, nor does it apply to asking general questions about your services before someone becomes a patient. If I had called asking for protected medical details, then your HIPAA excuse would make sense. But I was simply wanting to ask basic questions about your services, not anyone's medical information. In your response to my review you say that you don't accept patients who are due in less than two months. That would have been great to know, wouldn't it have? But since you never even gave me the chance to ask you any questions, how would I have known that? Claiming HIPAA as an excuse here is so phony. read more

I'm 4 months postpartum and finally getting around to writing this much-needed review of Pure Births and the incredible midwives who made my experience so special. First, I want to thank Midwife Tiffany for founding such an amazing practice and for empowering and encouraging women to trust their bodies and birth without fear. Thank you to Midwife Angela (and her assistant) as well as Midwife Tiffany for attending the birth of my third child and providing follow-up well-baby visits. Angela, the birth of my daughter was everything I hoped for, you made it a safe space and I'm so grateful for your support! And thank you to Yvonne for her fun and educational classes that boosted my confidence in what my body is capable of. My first two births were in hospitals, both with epidurals. When I became pregnant with my third, I knew I wanted something different. I toured Pure Births but wasn't fully committed at first. However, after a couple of impersonal and awkward OB visits--especially my last one with a male OB--I walked out knowing with complete certainty (and almost a sense of vengeance!) that Pure Births was what I needed. I called them immediately as I walked out and never looked back. During labor, being able to move freely, soak in the tub, eat and drink as needed, position myself comfortably, and--best of all--go home just a few hours after giving birth was an absolute blessing. The environment at Pure Births is warm, peaceful, and pristinely clean. It's an all woman space that honors women and mothers--but that doesn't mean dads are left out. My husband felt more included and encouraged to be involved with me and our baby than he ever did at a hospital or clinic. I highly recommend Pure Births. My prenatal care was very thorough, even more so than I had expected. I'm so grateful for the beautiful experience I was blessed with. Sheila and Morgan were with me during my labor. I come up short on the right words to express my gratitude for my entire experience with the team at Pure Births. I had my first baby at a birth center and wanted the same experience for my second, but could not find a local center near me covered by insurance. I am so grateful my doula recommended Pure Births, further away from where I live in Pasadena. I was already having a hard time being comfortable with my OB but was resigned to the fact that I might not have the care I wanted with 5 minute appointments, little to no education, high c-section rate, and high intervention births. As soon as I heard about Pure Births, I started working with Cali to get transferred to their care. I truly felt like she was the first person to listen and care about my pregnancy! I felt such huge relief thinking I could possibly be transferred to better care. Cali held my hand through the entire process and made it much easier than so many insurance processes I've been through. By the time I got into care I was 34 weeks! Even with only a few weeks left until delivery I was immediately welcomed by the team, had thoughtful, in depth and holistic appointments, and was provided training and best practices for where I was in my pregnancy. I felt such peace about the care I was receiving. Usually you'll meet all the midwives before your delivery but I had only a few appointments left and didn't meet my midwife until labor, but Gina was perfect. She was reassuring, steady, had a sense of humor, professional, kind and caring. The new birth suites are stunning. I tear up often thinking how grateful I am to have found this place and this team for my sweet baby's birth. Don't be afraid of a little drive if you live further away, and if you are already working with a provider and feel like you are not getting the care you deserve, it might not be too late to transfer. Fun fact: My baby was the 1st to be born in their new location as of May 1st 2022. In spite of all the changes and moving they had to accomplish in a short amount of time; the birthing rooms were so put together and beautiful. Just like I had envisioned over and over again in my head. I had the birth I wanted and delivered my baby safely Most importantly, I am beyond grateful Tiffany and her team are so inclusive and allow Medical patients to be seen. It is soooooooo important BIPOC can have this type of care and birth and not have to worry about the possibility of not affording holistic care in modern day healthcare systems. Pure Births is hands down the best care I've ever received during pregnancy and postpartum. It's most definitely a great feeling walking into an all ladies environment. Everyone is so caring and supportive. Even though I came into care towards the very end of my pregnancy all the ladies took better care of me than my previous obgyn. This review is 6 months over due but absolutely necessary. After a difficult and traumatic experience giving birth to my first born that almost landed him in the NICU, I searched high and low for a water birth center that would provide support from a midwife for a peaceful and better birth for this time around. The team at Pure Birth absolutely blew me away! From support with navigating the difficult insurance process to maintaining a healthy pregnancy and AMAZING water birth care, my family and I could not be happier with our experience. I raved about them to anyone who would listen. We drove very far to make it to our appointments and it was worth it. I was still on the fence with topics like vitamin k etc, & the wealth of information provided to help me feel confident about the choices I made were so valuable. Words can't describe how happy I am that I was able to birth & spend my pregnancy at Pure Births, rather than a hospital. The midwives & employees were lovely to meet with from start to finish. I was a little worried about not knowing all the midwives prior to my birth experience, & I just so happened to birth with a midwife I had not met prior to my labor day. We had both of our babies at Pure Births and couldn't recommend them enough! The prenatal appointments always felt warm and welcoming and any questions and concerns always answered and able to talk about them openly. The entire staff and midwives are so kind, sweet, and empathetic. I felt so safe to bring my babies into the world at the center. The center itself is so gorgeous and homelike. It's the next best place to birthing at home. Although my first birth in 2022 was very long and intense I was so grateful for Marivette's patience when we called several times unsure of labor. Then once at the center Angela's encouraging words and angel hands helping me get my cervix open when I was swelling up avoiding a hospital transfer, and Tiffany's calm energy when I was hemorrhaging also avoiding a hospital transfer. No matter what circumstance the midwives know what to do! We just had our second baby and I felt cared for and safe and knew I can fully trust them. I came to the center about to push my baby out and Tiffany was there right away to greet me and get me the water birth I was wanting. I had no checks my entire time baby came so quick and Tiffany knew and reassured me I could trust my body. She's a wonderful guide! Sheila assisted me after birth so beautifully. I was even able to do an umbilical cord burning ceremony like I dreamed of. Tiffany and the midwives feel like family and I would go to them for all my women care needs. It has taken me 5 months to get this review up but I feel it's important to share how my 2nd birth experience went with Pure Births. I woke up at 4:30 am with strong cramps. I let 45 min go by before leaving my house since I was unsure whether it was time to head to the birth center. Left my house at 5:15am and as we were on our way I called Angela who was the midwife on call. First thing I told her was that this was my 2nd baby and my first time was a quick 4 hours total so I knew this one would come sooner. And I had at least a 45 min drive ahead of us. I told her it started with cramping and they became contractions and were getting closer together. She asked me to track them and if they continued to change to update her. She wanted to be sure I was in labor before leaving her house since it was a long drive for her. I thought it was fair & completely understandable. I called her 2 more times on the way giving her updates of the contractions. She still decided not to leave her house, knowing she'd be stuck in traffic for over an hour. After being outside the birthing center for about 20 min she told me she was going to get up, get ready and start driving over which at that point would take her 1.5 hours. It was now 6:20am. Not knowing what to do, my family was coming up with a back up plan as they saw I was adamant about sticking to my birthing plan. I didn't want to consider the hospital. But, my pain had become intense and by the look on my face, my partner & mother had feared I might possibly give birth in the car. They looked up hospitals nearby and as we pulled up to a hospital I STILL told my mom I wanted to wait for Angela and to drive back to the birthing center. Little did I know, I was less than 10 min away from meeting my baby. She asked if I was sure and moments after that my water broke in the car. She proceeded to pull the car up outside the emergency room by the ambulance entrance, ran out of the car and informed nurses who were present that I was in labor. They acted quickly, carried me onto the gurney (as I was not able to move) , rolled me into the hospital as I was yelling in pain, doctor confirmed I was about to have my baby, a minute later baby was born. He was born at 7:16am. Minutes later, Angela calls my phone asking for an update and my partner answers, "Hey Angela, baby was just born here at the hospital." Her response had shocked me, "Why didn't you let me know? I wouldn't have been on my way." He apologized and hung up. I thought , EXCUSE ME?! This woman failed to do her job. I didn't get the birth I wanted in the birthing center because she decided not to take me seriously from the moment I first called her. And what a waste of money it was for the gas driving to Santa Clarita to give birth at a hospital , money wasted on the birthing kit , and all the money wasted on gas driving to every single appointment. And wasted time. I could've given birth at any hospital if I knew I'd be disregarded in this manner. She made us feel like we ruined her morning and wasted HER time. I was very disappointed that this is how my birth story played out when I was happy with my experience this 2nd time around. I share all this in hopes that Tiffany may address this with all the midwives. This woman should've known to possibly reach out to another midwife if she couldn't do her job by being there for me. Sadly, I don't think I'd consider coming back to them. I didn't even bother scheduling my postpartum appointments. read more

My husband and I knew we wanted to have a natural (without medical intervention) out of hospital birth for our first baby. We had searched a few places in the LA County area once we found out I was pregnant and came across Pure Births in the Santa Clarita Valley. Upon calling, I was immediately assisted by Debra whom gave me all the information I needed to begin my prenatal care with Pure Births and their midwives. I wanted my insurance to cover the birth, but at the time, the insurance I had would not cover the health care I'd receive there. Debra so helpfully explained the process for me to change my insurance plan so that my insurance would cover the care I'd receive at Pure Births. After getting things adjusted with my insurance, I began my first visit with Pure Births which was a mini questionnaire and my first prenatal checkup. They asked why I wanted a natural birth, which I admired because they showed they cared about what my goal was for my pregnancy. Throughout each prenatal visit, I was taken care of by midwives Tiffany Gallo & Jordan McCart who were always so mindful, kind, and sought out the best care for my baby & I. I had never felt so cared for in receiving health care! Ironic, right? These ladies & the whole Pure Birth team genuinely cared for the health and well-being of myself & my baby. They inform each patient on what to expect throughout the pregnancy, birth, & postpartum, and how to care for oneself naturally during each period. Throughout the care, they provide educational forms in each stage of pregnancy, how to prepare for a natural birth physically, mentally, & emotionally, and provide postpartum/infant care and checkups (instead of just a basic single postpartum care). They intend to make sure mom and baby are thriving during pregnancy, during labor, and after birth. Pure Births also provides a before birth class to know what to expect during labor at Pure Births (for both in center and at home births), and has forms & information for postpartum groups. They also let you take home your placenta, and have the option to get it personally encapsulated by Tiffany Gallo, or as a tincture. Their philosophy revolves around respecting each woman's body & choice, and using natural methods throughout pregnancy & encouraging each mama to show they are strong & capable to birth their baby the way women have done centuries before modern medicine. I appreciated this because I knew I wanted a natural birth, but was absolutely terrified & did not believe I could do it. The support and encouragement I received from the Pure Births team was tremendous. I had never felt so supported. In addition to their amazing support, the midwives and Pure Births team try to get to know each patient on a personal level. How amazing is that, when your healthcare provider actually cares about you rather than seeing you as another random patient on their list?! Feeling that personal level connection with them encouraged an amazing experience throughout the whole pregnancy. They immediately gained my trust and made me feel properly cared for at each visit. Every woman looking to have an out of hospital natural birth, this is the place!! Guaranteed, you would not have a better experience anywhere else. These ladies care about each patient, dedicate so much work and time for each mama, and will go above and beyond throughout the pregnancy, during birth & labor, and for your postpartum care. I am incredibly thankful for my care received at Pure Births, and will be returning soon for my next pregnancy. My husband, also expresses his gratitude for the Pure Births team, especially for Tiffany and Jordan, who were the absolute sweetest and caring midwives we've ever met. I was so grateful to have found pure births in my 3rd trimester. They made the transition as easy as possible, with taking over pre-natal care. Alicia and Jordan were both fantastic with me every visit, and I loved the experience.
