Midwife holding newborn baby girl at birth center suite

I had the most beautiful experience bringing my daughter Stormy earthside at Pure Births . The space feels like a serene, spa-like retreat, and the midwives are truly earth angels. From the very first visit, I felt safe, respected, and supported everything about the midwifery model of care made me feel empowered in my choices and deeply cared for as a whole person, not just a patient. Unlike any drs I've ever gone to...I will be going in for well women care soon which they also provide What makes this place even more special is that they accept Medi-Cal, which opens the door for so many families to have access to this level of care and such a beautiful birthing environment. I can't imagine a better place to have given birth. If you're exploring your birth options, I truly believe this is the best way to go.

    Facility is amazing.

After giving birth 2 years ago to my second daughter here, I told everyone I would love to have another baby if I could have the same birthing experience because it was so smooth, quick, laidback, and happy! So the next pregnancy rolled around and of course I went back to Pure Births. Cali and Deborah onboarded me efficiently with my insurance, and each prenatal visit with all the midwives was timely and helpful. Thank you, Kayla, for being the smiling and welcoming face as soon as I entered the door every visit! Thankfully, the actual birth experience again was smooth, relaxed, and quiet. No one is forcing you to do anything you don't want to, unlike at the hospital for my first baby! The midwives truly honor your intuition and motherly instincts. I personally did a lot of research and reading so I felt prepared and confident going into my first pregnancy, and then it just got better and better with my second and third. I recommend Pregnancy, Birth & Babies by Miranda Castro and Ina May's Guide to Childbirth by Ina May Gaskin. I used the Helios Homeopathy Childbirth Kit and Midwife Tracy helped me utilize it so well during birth to speed up labor (cimicifuga 200c and caullophylum 200c), greatly minimize swelling after birth (Arnica 200c) and heal my perineum after birth (Calendula 200c). Google "Joette Calabrese, childbirth" if you want to learn more.

I had such a beautiful experience with Pure Births. From my very first appointment, I felt cared for and supported. That first visit was about an hour long, and afterwards each appointment was around 30 minutes. just the right amount of time where the midwives never rush you, but really take the time to make sure every test is done correctly and that you're healthy and well throughout your pregnancy. Every visit feels so personal, filled with care and love. I also loved being able to meet all the different midwives during my visits. By the time it came to my birth, I already felt so comfortable with everyone there. The center itself is warm, homey, and peaceful, it feels just like being at home, yet it's also very clean, well-organized, and professional. I gave birth to my son at Pure Births, and the experience was so smooth and gentle. Midwife Tracy even stayed overnight because she trusted her intuition that I would return soon, and she was right. She was waiting for me at the door and was there to deliver my baby. That kind of dedication and care is something I will never forget. After birth, they give you privacy with your family while still making sure you and your baby are safe and cared for. You also get follow-up postpartum appointments, which were so helpful and reassuring. With my first pregnancy, I had to transfer to the hospital at 43 weeks, but I was grateful to come back for my second pregnancy and have the birth I dreamed of with my son. It was truly the most beautiful experience, and I will always be thankful for the midwives and the love, care, and support they give. For any mom reading this, if you're second-guessing yourself or feeling unsure about not having a hospital birth, trust that intuition. The midwives at Pure Births will take such good care of you. Birth is such a natural and powerful experience, and our bodies are made for it. Don't doubt yourself. Go to the midwives, and you'll be supported every step of the way.

In march 2024 I had my second child which was my first birth with pure births-I had a pretty magical delivery, my midwife Angela was everything I could have hoped for and I really am so thankful for the experience I had. Now in December 2025 I found myself back at pure births having my third child and somehow my birthing experience was even better this time. My midwife was Tracy and she was truly exceptional. I had the best birth! My first child was born in a hospital so I can compare a hospital birth to a natural birth and I would recommend a birth at pure births over and over. Both my births at pure births went past 41 weeks and all the staff at pure births always stayed positive and did everything in their power to get me to deliver before 42 weeks. Both times Tiffany was at some of my final appointments and reassured me that everything was going to work out. I am so grateful I found pure births and was able to have two magical amazing births!!

I had the most beautiful experience at Pure Birth. From the prenatal visits, the guidance, the classes - to the actual birth of my first child. No words can explain this experience. The midwives were amazing, it was very personal and intimate, I kind of want to get pregnant again just to give birth at the birth center again lol! I am beyond grateful for the team of midwives and the birth center. I'll never forget it! So professional, spiritual, holistic, I wish every momma will get to feel what I felt giving birth there. Truly magical.

We cannot thank the entire staff at Pure Births enough for our experience in bringing our 3rd baby into the world! We're both nurses by background and our first 2 kids were born in the hospital. However, I've always told my husband that if we were to have another child, I would like to experience an out-of-hospital birth to see the differences of everything we knew from our previous births and our own careers. Our experience at Pure Births was everything we imagined and more! From the prenatal appointments to the labor and delivery itself, everything went so smoothly considering we had insurance issues most of our pregnancy. Yet the staff was always so helpful in making sure that our care was covered and answered all of our questions thoroughly. The labor and delivery room was so relaxing and spa-like and I loved that I could eat, drink and move around during the laboring hours! It was very different from being stuck on machines, hooked up to an IV and unable to move in bed in my previous hospital experiences. I also fulfilled my dream of having a water birth and although it was a pain I've never experienced before (since I had epidurals for my first 2), it was a beautiful way to birth our baby! Because of the midwives encouraging words and their presence through the whole thing, I had full confidence that I could do it. Being a media team now, we're also grateful that they allowed us to set up our tripod to record our entire birthing experience. We watch it back now and we're so grateful to be able to relive our Pure Birth experience over and over! Thank you Tiffany and the entire staff at Pure Births! Everything was perfect!

    My son(2022)

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND PURE BIRTH!!!!!! I had my son(2022) and my daughter(2025) there, both times was wonderful experience, if I had to do it all over again I will 100% be at Pure Birth. Everyone there are so nice , very understanding, and very helpful. If I can give them 1,000 or more stars I absolutely would.

I recently had my second birth at PureBirths and I cannot recommend this birth center enough! Not only was my prenatal care wonderful, bringing my baby earth side was a beautiful, peaceful and natural experience. Everyone deserves to be able to have a calm birthing environment that the midwives offer at PureBirths

I came across this birth center very unexpectedly, and I truly believe God wanted me to be in the care of Jordan and Stephanie. During my first pregnancy, we took a class at Pure Birth near the end of my pregnancy and loved everything we learned--especially the importance of avoiding an epidural for both the mother and the baby. However, at the time, I didn't feel ready to have an unmedicated birth, so we chose a hospital birth for our first daughter. When I found out I was pregnant with our second, I knew deep down that I wanted the least amount of intervention possible--for both myself and my baby. I called what I thought was Pure Birth, and to my surprise, it was SCV birth center. Trusting that God always knows best, I followed that path, and I can honestly say He did not disappoint like always The center itself is smaller, which immediately made me feel safe, confident, and truly at home. Stephanie and Jordan are incredibly kind, compassionate, and knowledgeable. They take the time to truly listen, to reassure you whenever needed, and to explain everything with such clarity and care. Every appointment felt easy, personal, and completely stress-free. The birth itself was absolutely perfect--I could honestly write an entirely separate review just about that experience alone. I cannot thank these two women enough for everything they did for me and my family. I wholeheartedly recommend SCV birth center to anyone seeking an unmedicated, empowering, and deeply supported birth experience.

I have soooooo much to say! For starters, you have a concierge health experience. Every appointment was met with intention yet an openness to answer any thing your heart desires. When you find women in birth work that are aligned with their life purpose you find an amazing environment. Renee and Andrea take the time to educate you! They allow you to make informed decisions without judgement or coercion. They even helped me find a birthing class and helped us find a fitting pediatrician. I plan on having more kids and I can't imagine giving birth any where else. One of my favorite memories, after delivering my daughter you come back for an appointment close to your 1 week mark. Ours happened to be day 4. They taught me how to sideline breastfeed. What a game changer!!! As a first time mom, I was incredibly grateful for the guidance. They actually took me to one of the delivery rooms and allowed me to nurse and practice in real time so I could ask questions. I know so many women who quit breastfeeding because no one took the time to give them the basics, encourage them or just let them understand that there would be moments it hurts but to hang in there. If you are debating on where to start your prenatal care, you are already in the right place, make the call! Trust me, one of the best decisions of my life! -Latoya Lyn & Baby Violet

After…read moresome research, I found that there weren't any classes locally offered to new moms, other than at Henry Mayo Hospital. And of course, their classes were only offered once a month. Unfortunately, they didn't work with my schedule. My main concern being a new mom was breastfeeding. I went online and tried finding a doula who would offer me a private class. Alas, I found Cali. What immediately impressed me was how quick she responded to my intro email. She was open to come over to my house, teach me the basics about breastfeeding and offer her advice postpartum. Cali was helpful, professional, and caring. Having my first baby with Cali's support made the experience that much better. So glad I found Cali!

It wasn't long until we felt very overwhelmed by all the decisions and challenges that faced us. One of our friends recommended that we hire a doula to help us with the process... and so the search began. We met with a few different doulas, however as soon as we met Cali, we knew she was the perfect fit for our growing family. We felt very comfortable with her, she was very knowledgeable and answered all of our questions, and her beliefs aligned with ours about the ideal birth. In addition, she offered us private parenting classes since our schedules were always conflicting with the hospital's classes we were interested in taking. In all of our meetings before the birth, Cali came prepared and ready to work. However, I always felt like I was meeting with a good friend. When my water broke 1 month early, Cali dropped everything to be at my side (even though it was her birthday!!) She even came to our house first to help pack for the hospital, keep me calm until my husband got home from work, and even installed our car seat (since we were so unprepared for such an early arrival!) I was a little unsure that I was going to be able to follow the birth plan we had put together, to keep things all natural, with no medical intervention, but with Cali's help, I was! She was calm and encouraging through my entire labor, and provided support for my husband as he coached me through a successful, all natural birth. We could not be more grateful. After the birth, Cali constantly checked in on us, and offered advice and help when we were having some difficulties with breast-feeding during her postpartum visit. We are so thankful that we can look back on our labor in a positive light, and we have Cali to thank for that. I would definitely recommend her to anyone looking for a Doula.

Birth doesn't go as planned and that's exactly why you DO need to take a class. An in depth class. Britta's class. I approached my pregnancy as a 9 month grad school class. I took it upon myself to read books, journal articles, blogs, engage on online discussion groups, listen to podcast... really everything I could to learn the ins and outs of this journey I was on. My husband read a book. Kind of. He definitely skimmed it. I knew that our vocabularies were so different that we needed to find a class that would allow us to have a shared lexicon to properly communicate. I researched (like everything else) just about every class type offered in the greater Los Angeles Metro Area and I was just called to Embodica. My husband likes to refer to a lot of what I'm into as "hippie s**t." From that statement, it's clear he is not. I spoke to Britta on the phone before the class began, worried that her class would be too "wooey" for him, but after our conversation I knew she was grounded and funny enough that he would be won over. Because man did he have to be won over when I showed him the website. Our first class was an eyeopener for both of us. We were one of 6 couples, all due within two months of each other. My husband saw the focal point in the middle of the circle and arched an eyebrow--he just knew we paid a lot of money for woo-woo crap. Then Britta began to talk and I saw him perk up and really began to listen. When Britta demoed what a real contraction could look like, he was all in. Later that evening when we practiced comforting our partners while holding ice, I learned that he thought singing "Henry the VIII I Am" and some Queen son were appropriate comforting strategies, and so the revelation I they were not before labor probably saved our marriage and/or his life. Over the six weeks of class, we learned so much. Despite my exhaustive research, actually learning from someone as knowledgable and grounded as Britta allowed me to put all the information I was learning in context. My husband was able to learn the ins of out of the technical side of all things pregnancy/labor. Together, we developed a coping strategy that worked well for both of us. So yes, you cannot prepare for birth. I was pretty sure when push came to shove, I would lock myself in a room by myself and push everyone away (the perks of a homebirth is that I really could do this!). Yet, when things actually started, I needed my husband to be there for me. We used everything we learned in Britta's class over the course of my 55 hour unmedicated labor. My husband was able to truly comfort me and meet my needs in a way I know for a fact he wouldn't have been able to do before our class. We now talk to a lot of the other couples through a private little FB group one of the mom's created and are planning on meeting up soon so all the babies can meet. My husband and I also reflect on our time in that class often as we navigate the "4th trimester." As a parting gift, Britta gave each member of the class a labyrinth necklace. I haven't taken mine off since I put it on shortly before I went into labor and my husband's cord just broke as he would thumb the pendant so often. It's a reminder that our journey is continuing and to give ourselves patience and grace as we navigate this new world of parenthood. My husband and I will both be forever grateful for our experience in Britta's class and wholeheartedly recommend it to every couple preparing to welcome their child into the world. Oh, and as an aside, I really love how Britta used non-gendered terms even though we were all heterosexual, cis couples. "Birthing partner," "supporting partner," etc. Speaking to trans and lesbian couples, I know finding a safe and supportive birthing class can be difficult, so I think it's important to point this out.

My husband and I felt so lucky to have attended this workshop. We had not taken any other…read morechildbirth classes but we both felt more than sure that we ended up at the best one in the world. Britta's skill as a mentor, storyteller, listener, and communication guide are unmatched and I cannot possibly imagine anyone better suited to exactly the work she does with parents-to-be. I learned so much, yet never felt overwhelmed with information since she made the day so interactive. There is so much that I took with me not only into labor and childbirth but in parenting, life, and my relationships with my partner, my self, and my environment - without a specific to-do list or set of stock instructions. I loved how all the learning was connected to deep reflection into the senses for I believe that this is how real learning takes place - in the whole self.... After we had our baby my husband and I went to Britta for couples counseling and we had another great experience. The three of us sat in her lovely studio and she helped mediate difficulties we were having. Things have been so much better ever since that one session!!

When my husband and I became pregnant with our first child, I was still carrying a deep grief. My…read moremother had passed away just one year earlier, and as a 38-year-old first-time mom, I felt lost without her guidance. I remember sharing that with Chavah early in my pregnancy, and from that moment on, she cared for me with a level of compassion and sensitivity that I will never forget. Before I even chose a midwife, I prayed for guidance. Then I opened Yelp, and Chavah was the very first midwife I called. After speaking with her on the phone, I didn't search any further. Looking back now, five months postpartum, I truly know she was an answer to my prayer. Chavah cared for us from the very beginning of my pregnancy--around three months along--through birth and into those precious first weeks postpartum. Throughout every appointment, she was wise, kind, patient, and incredibly knowledgeable. She took the time to educate us, answer our endless first-time-parent questions, and guide us through each stage with confidence and reassurance. One thing that especially touched us was her willingness to go above and beyond when life threw us an unexpected curveball. Midway through my pregnancy, my husband and I had to relocate, moving about 70 miles away. Most people would have understandably referred us elsewhere, but Chavah generously agreed to keep us on as clients. We were so grateful. Those extra miles meant more to us than she probably realizes. Our pregnancy was healthy and uncomplicated. The only bump in the road was that I needed an iron boost, and Chavah quickly connected us with excellent care for a couple of iron transfusions. Her experience and attentiveness gave us complete confidence that we were in good hands every step of the way. When it came time to give birth, Chavah was absolutely amazing. She created an environment where I felt informed, supported, and in control. Well... as much control as a woman can feel while temporarily visiting another dimension during contractions. Thankfully, our son had places to be and arrived after just five hours of active labor, making his debut before lunchtime. Today, we are five months postpartum and have a healthy, thriving baby boy. I've intentionally taken my time writing this review because I wanted to reflect carefully on our experience and express just how grateful we are. Chavah brought wisdom when I needed guidance, encouragement when I felt uncertain, and compassion when I was grieving. She cared for not only my physical health, but my emotional well-being too. I honestly cannot imagine a better midwife experience. If we are blessed with more children in the future, I would choose Chavah again without hesitation. Knowing she would be part of our care would bring immediate peace of mind. Thank you, Chavah, for everything you did for our family--and for so much more than was ever required. We will always be grateful.
