A lot of young people purchased soda or 6£ drafts, No one ordered dinner, everyone was given spicy bar snacks. All were chain smoking & there were clouds of smoke on all sides of us. By at 8:00 the rooftop emptied. We shared a 30€ sangria & expensive ham & cheese sandwich with 4 fries. Our order was lost and then took a half an hour to get our sandwich. The sangria was tasty we had a glass and a half each but there wasn't much alcohol in it. This was the most expensive bill we had in Barcelona & it wasn't a meal. Our group had already spent a significant amount of money at the venue the night before, so this experience was especially disappointing. During the evening, I bought a bottle of water at the upper bar. While briefly speaking with a colleague (around 10 seconds), I placed the bottle on the lower bar counter opposite the cloakroom. A staff member immediately removed it. When I approached her right away and explained that I had just purchased it, she refused to return it or provide a replacement. The bigger issue was not the drink, but the way I was treated. The employee, who gave the name "Georgina" (tall, slim, brown hair), spoke no English at all and reacted in a very dismissive and disrespectful way. Instead of trying to understand the situation, she made a hand gesture telling me to go away. Her tone and behavior were rude and confrontational, which made me feel extremely uncomfortable and unwelcome. For an international club of this reputation, it is surprising that staff in direct contact with guests cannot communicate even basic English or handle a simple situation professionally. The interaction left me with a very negative impression and a clear feeling of being treated without respect or basic courtesy. Because of this experience, I would not feel comfortable returning, and I believe other guests should be aware of how situations like this can be handled here. Su actitud y su tono fueron groseros y confrontativos, lo que me hizo sentir muy incómoda y nada bienvenida. Para un club internacional con esta reputación, sorprende que el personal en contacto directo con los clientes no pueda comunicarse mínimamente en inglés ni gestionar una situación sencilla de manera profesional. I found Palau Dalmases via EventBrite and make the reservation in advance to make sure I had a seat for my final night in Barcelona. Palau Dalmases is located near Museo Picasso which I had visited earlier that week so I felt very good being able to confidently navigate the crowded streets in search of my destination. When I stepped across the threshold I felt transported to a different time and place. The outer courtyard is charming and the staff was friendly and engaging. After taking little time to admire the architecture, I was shown quickly to my front row seat and provided with a complimentary drink which was a very nice touch. The lights dimmed and the show began with the musicians setting the atmosphere in the small and intimate space. The closest thing I can compare it to in my experience is an invocation of the spirit that one might experience in church. The cantaor (singer) and the tocaor (guitar player) drew me in from the start. By the time the Baile began I was lost in the experience. In this space their was a mixing and meeting of cultures that was so beautiful it reminded me that we humans are capable of coming together making something beautiful and meaningful when we set aside things that divide us. I can not compare this performance to other flamenco performances yet but I appreciate that this was my introduction. If you are looking for something that can be family friendly or if you are in it for a solo or couples experience I would recommend checking this out.
