Dr. Magner is absolutely fantastic. I have been seeing her on and off for about two years now, and she is the best chiropractor/physical therapist I have ever been treated by. Due to a car accident when I was quite young, I have chronic lower back pains now. Whenever I go see her, she provides immediate relief as well as focuses on long-term goals. She introduced back/joint adjustments to me, and now I go get it done every time I feel stiffness or soreness. It has instant gratification! I feel better almost instantly, and we pair that with other techniques for long term effects. She will listen to you when you have questions and concerns or even your preferences in treatment. In addition to her quality work, she has excellent bedside manners- so patient, caring, and genuine. She doesn't try to push you towards anything you are uncomfortable with or "up sell" services. She will go the extra mile to make you feel cared for and gives all her attention to her patients. I'm so lucky to have found Kaizo/SSR! P.S. Talk about great care! Dr. Magner is amazing and so patient. So I've been going through some pain and stiffness in my back shoulder, neck and lower back which also affect my hip. Let's say I been carrying this for 2 years after 2 injuries. I decided to ignore my doctor and see a specialist. I was recommended by my boyfriend because he too had problems with his upper body. When I saw his results, I was curious. What really drawn me to my comfort zone was when Dr. Magner was just listening to my story. She gave me a brief explanation of my situation. So I decided to set up an appointment. The process was so easy. Her staff was helpful. My insurance was processed smoothly. They explained my policy and payments. The appointments were easy to make and they were flexible when it comes to my unforeseen events. My first was appointment was informational and basic rehab. It was a lot getting use to. As weeks gone by my rehab routine increased as I improved. Dr. Magner is very professional when it came to concerns and targeting the problem area. Her staff is knowledgable and attentive. Each are educated and compassionate. Everytime I go off, they correct my form. Even notice when my shoulders starts to tense up. Thank youuu! Everyone I dealt with at Sport and Spine Rehab was extremely professional and courteous, from the doctors to the physical therapists to the receptionist. Compared to another chiropractor I visited in the area, I really appreciated that Dr. Magner took the time to explain what she was doing at every stage, and what her plan was for my therapy. I originally found this place through ZocDoc, which allowed me to book appointments online. Unfortunately, they no longer offer online scheduling, so I'm docking them a star. I saw Dr. Tersigni in McLean for rehab on my shoulder after rotator cuff surgery. As others have noted in their reviews, this clinic offers very little hands-on assistance with your therapy exercises. A few weeks after my surgery I ended up with frozen shoulder (which can occur and isn't a statement on my care at SSR). However, this did complicate my recovery quite a bit. I will start off by saying that everyone here is extremely nice. However, if you are looking for effective physical therapy for a serious injury or condition, this is not your best choice. I will also state that I was very dedicated to doing my exercises outside of the clinic, so my views regarding my lack of progress is not due to patient non-compliance. Dr. Tersigni would spend about 5 minutes utilizing the Graston on my shoulder area (I really don't know if that ever actually did any good), then about 5 minutes or so doing very limited range of motion for my shoulder. Once I was out in the exercise area, I was on my own with only periodic assistance from the techs. As others have said, they do seem more interested in chatting with each other and the patients than providing supervision and assistance. Not once did I receive a printout of the exercises I was supposed to do on my own. I had to keep them all in my head or write them down once I got to the car. After 3 1/2 months with limited progress, I was referred elsewhere by my surgeon. Within 10 days of being seen at a new clinic (where my therapist is a DPT) my range of motion increased dramatically. I get at least 30 minutes of hands-on therapy before going out to the floor to do my exercises, always under the watchful eye of my therapist. On my very first visit I was given a printout of the exercises to do at home. The difference between the two clinics is night and day. read more

If you are a runner - or any type of athlete - you need to add this place to your Rolodex, BlackBerry, Outlook contacts ... you get my point. Let me fill you in. I am running a marathon this fall and my knees have been killing me since June. Horrible experiences with running and I thought a little knee brace would help me out. After running 10 miles one day - and walking most of it - I knew it was time to cash in my chips and visit these folks. Best decision of my life. I was diagnosed with IT Band Syndrome and has basically 2 years of scar tissue in my legs. They use a technique called Graston to work out the IT Band - then stretching exercises. I was in and out in an hour - but you have to keep going back for a few more times to become fully healed. I hardly ever would recommend a Chiropractor, but after my first visit I ran 16 miles with no issues - it takes a few to really have an affect so I'll keep going. These docs are the real deal - they will help you out for sure! read more

After 2 pregnancies, and the subsequent physical exertions of childcare (lifting and carrying babies etc.), it does take a toll on ones' body and especially back. I first went to Dr. Tersigni when they were at the old office a few years ago. I was rather tight on time to complete my 12 or so therapy sessions recommended to me due to an extended travel that was previously scheduled long before I started the course. When I had to cut the course short by a couple of sessions I got a very negative response from Dr. Tersigni. He made it known that he was not pleased with me. He definitely has a very pushy sort of attitude when it comes to insisting on you signing up for his therapy program. If you think you can come and go as you please, think again. Once he has you signed on he will not let you go without a fight. I had a minor sports related injury about a 9 mos ago and decided to try them out again. New office is much nicer, and the therapy sessions were helpful, but again the pushiness was still very much present. I made sure to negotiate a much shorter course from the get go so that I wouldn't have trouble with him again down the line. So that was that. I think I will probably try to find a new chiropratice to go to if I ever have more problems. I think the actual therapy course here was fine and helped me somewhat, but I could have done without the bad attitude and pushiness. It certainly was cause for some uncomfortable feelings and awkwardness in dealing with him. read more

Back pain? Other pain? Sports injury? Then this place is for you. I ended up coming here after having a nasty spell with my back where I couldn't twist without being in a lot of pain. I think it was a combination of sleeping on my favorite side and running on an already over tight right leg. So I called here to make an appointment to have my back cracked a few times to alleviate the pressure. Now, I know some folks see chiropractors as quacks, but man, I tell you - this stuff works. I ended up not being able to crack my back the first two times I was there and then started loosening up on my next few sessions. The bad part is that I had to clear my calendar due to work quickly overwhelming my schedule for the next few weeks. Now, why the three stars? Well, I'm being more discerning with my votes with most places getting a 3.5/4.0 as a starting rating. Extra service gets you that coveted fifth star and lately places just aren't scoring that. But I docked a star since the office is in the basement of the McLean medical building - but doesn't look as clean or well kept as a doctor's office should. It tends to be a tad cramped for the number of patients and since it has no windows, kind of gives me the creeps. BUT, don't let that stop you. And they do take Aetna. read more

I've had low back problems for the last few years without any significant progress. I've tried physical therapy, injections, chiropractors, personal training, and considered surgery. My doctor told me to give physic therapy another shot since I'm honestly a bit young for surgery (it can have negative cascading effects over time). I went to Sport and Spine with low expectations. Most physical therapists just take your referral at face value and work on whatever the paper says to. Well that didn't happen here. I went through a full evaluation ( X-rays, tests, bending measurements) and Dr. Magner went through my MRI's with me and she suggested different techniques to get some relief. She was honest with me that the pain would likely never be completely gone, but the objective was to minimize the pain and its effect on my ability to, you know, live my life. It's been about 2 months and my back is MUCH better. I think it's a combination of Dr. Magnet actually asking what's bothering you and targeting that each visit, while the staff are all encouraging and honestly just great to be around! You feel like family around them. Their approach isn't very aggressive in terms of the exercises you do, but I guess that's what I needed because I can do them at home and it's working! This place is fantastic. Dr. Magner and her staff helped me recover from a hip/glute injury in a matter of weeks. Everyone that works there is knowledgeable, friendly, and patient, and despite less than positive experiences with PT at some locations in DC in the past, at Sport and Spine I was always motivated to attend my appointments and keep up with exercises at home. Given that I didn't get a response or explanation on the requested customer review, I am posting my feedback so that everybody can be careful about this. Thank you for your email The personnel that helped me do the exercises was very kind so no complaints there but I would rate my experience an overall 1 from the 1-10. The reason is that on my fist visit I told the doctor that I was very active and training for a marathon and wanted to do an MRI. His response was that we first had to go a month an a half treatment. The knee didn't get better and more time and other services at additional charge were added along the way still without good results. I asked a few times about MRI and more sessions were added until X ray was prescribed. I asked again for the MRI and the response was that the protocol called for x ray. Meanwhile more sessions. The x ray didn't show anything so finally did the MRI which showed that l had a torn meniscus on both sides that required surgery. I finally had it repaired. That is why I never went back. I could have saved a lot of time and money and frustration and feel that it was done almost on purpose under the excuse of internal procedure or protocol. I can't find a good explanation and wish that the doctors would have listened the patient. Now I am completely out of shape and starting recovery somewhere else read more

Sometimes an injury gives us a wake call and turns out to be a blessing! I had a spine injury that resulted in a herniated disc. I was prescribed 3 months of PT. My entire encounter has been top notch...from the person who first answered my initial phone call to the staff in McLean. Dr. Magner has been a delight to work with as have the front desk attendant and all of the trainers (Rho, Andre and Dino). I look forward to my appointments and feel like this experience will set me on the path back to exercise. Everyone who works there is enthusiastic and engaged and exercise videos are send to my email periodically to remind me to do my physical therapy. I have been to other PT facilities and this feels much more personalized and intimate. I'll be sorry to see my PT end but am hoping this is a new beginning to a healthier me. Athletes, bodybuilders and powerlifters especially, know the frustration of dealing with inhibiting injuries and the lack of improvement made on these injuries due the overall lack of knowledge and experience dealing with extensive soft tissue damage... I have had chronic frozen shoulder and extensive mobility issues for years now.. and it's finally getting better. THESE GUYS ARE THE ANSWER!! I have been so happy and reluctant to find a chiropractic office that offers all the innovative treatments out there to tend to your injuries. Dr. Magner should simply change her name to Miracle Worker. I have been to PT and chiropractic care before and never had the results she delivers. Her techniques are familiar but different enough to give different results. She doesn't simply crack and stretch, she gets an idea of the total picture, connects the dots, and works her magic. I completed a full course of therapy here. I stuck with this place because of the convenience of the location. The physical therapy exercises provided were good and I found them useful. However, I did not see results from the graston technique used by Dr. Tersigni. With this in mind, my sessions often seemed wasted because I could have easily done these exercises at home or at the gym. There were several visits when I did the exercises completely on my own without guidance from one of the techs/therapists. The staff are friendly but the office lacks professionalism. During several sessions, the staff were more concerned with chatting with one another and throwing the football around than working with patients. I was disheartened by this and by the fact that Dr. Tersigni did not address this behavior. Dr. Tersigni also would leave the doors of the treatment rooms open when with patients. This meant that you could hear what he was saying during a "confidential" appointment and you could see the treatment. With better customer service training and instruction, there could be some vast improvements made. I have quite a bit of experience with PT practices and would say this place is just simply not at the top of the industry. read more

Sport and Spine Rehab is fantastic. The best part of Sport and Spine is that they have a plan. They don't just adjust you to adjust you. They know where you are starting (ie in pain) and they tell you how they are going to get you to where you want to me (ie not in pain). They understand that you can get chiropractic service to adjust the bones, but muscle memory is going to bring the bones back to where you started (ie in pain). Which is why the rehab specialists work with you afterwords (or before) to stretch the muscles. It works or at least it worked for me. Dr Rick (Tersigni) was very knowledgable and nice. Chino and the rest of the rehab specialists are great. I have nothing but nice things to say. read more

If you're looking for a chiropractor ("Dr." Tersigni) who: --spends as little time as possible with you and turns you over to the exercise therapist without any guidance on limitations or restrictions. --cares more about checking his email than addressing any of your concerns or helping you with your pain. --does the minimum amount of hands-on therapy. then he's your man! Basically, if you have a problem that is post op and/or complicated in any way at all, AVOID this man. He is egotistical, incompetent, and very possibly will impede your recovery with his negligence. read more

3.5 Stars Fairly accessible location to those working in Tysons Corner, VA. Staff is friendly, and punctual to appointments. This clinic incorporates both chiro, electro stimulus, and physical therapy into their treatments. Chiropractic treatments seemed very light. Physical therapy/rehabilitation treatments were much more intense, and helped to build up in the affected areas. I would have preferred more chiro, as my treatments felt more like physical therapy. They take United Healthcare. I've been to better and to worse, so 3.5 stars. read more

This review is specifically for Liz Schneider, massage therapist (I can't speak to any of the PTs there as I have had no experience with them). I have been seeing Liz for sports massage therapy about once a month for the past 3 months. Liz is by far the best massage therapist I have ever worked with, and I've worked with quite a number. I am a long distance runner and have run competitively since middle school. I competed in high school and NCAA DI in college, and now run road races as a competitive age grouper. I've experienced my fair share of injuries in that time. Liz has helped prevent many injuries by working out little niggles, keeping me in good alignment, and pointing out potential "problem areas" before I even realized they might be troublesome. If I ever go more than a month in between massages, I certainly begin to feel "off." Liz is extremely knowledgeable about her craft, and is constantly working to learn more so that she can better serve her clients. Liz is very personable, kind, and welcoming. I have referred numerous friends to seek Liz's care, and they always rave about her. Liz gets to know each of her clients on an individual basis and treats no two clients, or massages, the same. Ever time I've seen her, she's given me something just a little different, depending on what she's feeling in my body, and feedback I give her. Liz always wants to know how I'm feeling, how my running is going, and how she can best help me. I've received gift cards to get massages elsewhere from friends and family as gifts, but no other therapist can get me feeling as limber, relaxed, and ready to go as Liz can. I cannot recommend her services highly enough! read more

This is not a real physical therapy office. This is a chiropractor office with some untrained college kids who literally will read magazines while you do exercises unsupervised. The people are friendly but it is not physical therapy. And because of that it can damage you. They had me doing so many sideways steps for my shoulder - with no one watching my form - that I damaged my knee. Go here if you want a chiropractor (I did not - it does not benefit me) but otherwise, avoid avoid avoid. read more

Dr Manger is excellent and the staff is great. I had a herniated disc L4 and L5 which caused sciatic nerve pain within 3 weeks I was pain free. I recommend any one with back pain to drop in for a visit. read more
