The teachers are intelligent, compassionate, and loving beyond belief. They are sometimes overloaded with many more children than they should have, and yet these teachers rise above everything and shine. Yet often the numbers are perfect and everyone always gets the attention they need, regardless of the degree of challenge to the tireless teachers. I am a substitute teacher and I stand in total honor of the daily educators here. Patient, fair, loving, and real. I can't recommended Pukalani school enough. Looked at every option and am close friends with many of the teachers in different schools and they all agree, it's a place like no other, like almost back in time but not. You just don't deal with what you deal with anywhere else and it's hard to explain unless you experience it. I've seen many people try Maui for a short time with young children as a year experiment and literally stay here because of this place...which is much bigger decision that deciding on a neighborhood somewhere. Lunches... Yes... They are catered by a restaurant people love to eat at and how they make it so affordable for the parents, including tuition is beyond me. But be prepared to join in the fun and become part of something that you just have to see for yourself to get. It's not your typical private school... When my kiddo needed tutoring, they rallied around him with a dedication that you would rarely see from one's own family, let alone a school. Now he's ahead of the curve and loves school. Days off are fantastic and little kiddo graduations are like nothing you've ever seen in terms of just fun and support in the aloha spirit. This is the one place on school earth that you can actually tell your kids if they were absent a day, that they didn't miss school...school actually missed them.

My child attended their ELC program (When Mrs. Nicole Okada was there teaching the 3yr old group, and she is the ONLY reason why that ELC program succeeded, she is the absolute GEM of all teachers, truly a beautiful soul and we were so blessed to have her for the year that we did. Otherwise the staff (besides Jan Pasamonte- who was another piece of Heaven at that school) is unkind, sassy, brash and down right mean. They do not respond to you in a timely manner, if at all. When you call to inquire about their school, they completely cut you off the phone. (and we called SEVERAL times to give them the benefit of the doubt!) Lahaina has very few options for outstanding pre-K schools and Sacred Hearts is just another example of staff collecting paychecks rather than doing their jobs of educating the future. (DO NOT SEND your child to their preschool program-HORRIBLE, I watched several of their teachers yell and scold these young children- it is NOT a happy place!) **My husband and I actually got into contact with Holy Innocents Preschool, and will take a tour of their school soon, but one thing to note: Their personnel on the phone was actually pleasant to speak with and gave us useful and detailed information- FINALLY

Mikaela has always been a shy girl, she never talks to anyone or sings on the stage. She's a total opposite to her twin sister who's more outgoing and and talkative. The teachers of Christ the king helped Kaela open up to her friends and to others. One of the things that touched my heart was when they created an animal clinic inspired by Kaela since she wants to be a veterinarian one day. They sincerely care and love each and every children in their classes. They know they're preferences and the children love them like their own Aunties. These teachers pour out their heart and soul to teach them and prepare them for the future. I love and appreciate you all and I am so sad that I won't see you guys next year and but we will bring the kids to visit!! I recommend CHRIST THE KING PRESCHOOL! We love the art projects that they do with the keikis and their holiday performances inside the church. The only downside to this preschool is that the kids get really dirty since the play area is mostly sand and after it rains, the kids can get bad mosquito bites if they are prone to getting bit.

Today was last day of Preschool for our twins and what a year they had with LIttle Explorers Maui…read morein Wailuku. The staff are very friendly and compassionate and the kids love them all. They were sad to say goodbye to everybody today but they are also thankful for everything they learned in a year. Their favorite teacher is Aunty Liz, she is really good at what she does and my kids definitely learned a lot from her and from the other teachers as well. They surely will miss their Preschool, the Little Explorers. Would recommend this school to all the parents.
