Went here for dinner right after checking into our hotel next door after we trekked from Athens International to Luten Airport on 10/24/2018. The owner is really, really into his restaurant and excitedly told us all about all the different specials and options. My sister and I got the set menu, the Artemis (meat) menu which was fairly steep at £27.50 per person. Food was good and came in courses. 1. Sauce sampler of hummus, taramosalata, tzatziki and baba ganoush with bread. 2. Meat sampler of a single keftede, spanakopita and loukaniko per person. 3. Horatiki salad. 4. Entree served family style of grilled pork and chicken. 5. Dessert of yogurt with honey, a single baklava, karydopita and kataifi per person. Courses came out fairly slow and they unfortunately forgot about us for our last course. The owner gives great service, but he can't be expected to be on top of every table as it got very busy. The female server with reddish hair (spoke Greek) seemed out of it and not a good help to him. We ended up spending more than 2 hours at the restaurant, and it came down to the owner not having good support from the one waitress around, but the food was very good. The man who took my order (perhaps the owner?) was so over the top that he sold me on me meal before I had it. Never had a more effusive / friendly man selling me on my food. Unfortunately the hype didn't live up to the results. The octopus (You'll love it! It's amazing!) was too crispy / oily for me and felt overcooked. The eggplant dip was too acidic for me to have more than a few bites. The cod roe dip was bright pink to my surprise and it was yummy but thick, kind of like an aioli and I couldn't eat much. read more

As soon as you walk into the door you're met with a warm welcome from the ever so beautiful George. You're made to feel welcome, you can feel the love just bursting from the seems inside of the restaurant. It's beautifully set up, tables clean, bathroom clean. The menu is divine, plenty for everyone and caters to all needs including vegetarian / vegan which can be troublesome at greek restaurants. The food, amazing. Everything tastes homemade, and the ingredients seem to be sourced from greek / italian brands. Seasoned to perfection, well presented. I have no faults. LOVED this place. A small quiet place out of the way. I actually saw it by accident. My husband and I got lost looking for our hotel and I saw the sign. When we tried to eat at a Greek place down the street from our hotel they told us we needed to have made reservations. So we went back to this place and it was delicious. Definitely will stop by to eat there again next time I'm in London. read more

This restaurant was literally around the corner from our hotel entrance. We were starving, saw the sign, and went in. The staff was immediately welcoming and told us to pick a table. (It was early, so it was empty.) We ordered a sampler type of plate and some pita bread. The waiter brought some dips for our bread, too. Everything was delicious, so we inhaled it and waddled back to our hotel. read more

Good experience. Came in here on a Friday evening with the special lady. We split a soup, a salad and an entree. All the food was good, though nothing was outstanding. Good-sized portions, relatively fair prices. The wait staff was attentive and kind. The restaurant itself has a nice ambiance. It's located down an alley so you probably wouldn't stumble upon it. (For this reason, the restaurant often employs a person, in costume, to stand on Queensway and direct customers to it.) Overall we had a pleasant meal. Wouldn't have a problem returning. read more

This restaurant was a cool find on a weeknight when we were craving Greek food after a long day of sight seeing. The entrance is a bit hidden- it's not off a main street but instead you'll have to walk around back and entrance is located on a quiet alley-like street. The restaurant was quiet which was perfect for my tired self, and the staff was friendly. I ordered a chicken and rice dish, do not recall the exact name. My husband ordered a fixed menu, he chose the meat variety. This was such a good call! We sampled so many delicious things that we may not have ordered otherwise. All the dips with pita bread were so tasty, I couldn't stop eating them. The sausage and meatballs appetizers were phenomenal as well. The main entree- a variety of meats with potatoes and a side salad- also great. We finished with a dessert of baklava with yogurt & honey. Nice place to go for a quiet dinner. It's hidden away in an alley, a bit off the beaten path. Staff was pleasant, portions were sized well, OK prices. The music was a little funky, but overall pleasant experience. Not familiar with the area, but there was a used prophylactic on the ground outside, kind of gross. Other than that, A-OK!!! read more

'Tasty Authentic Greek Food' Value for money - yes. Service with a smile - yes but slow at times. Authentic Taste - absolutely. Would I eat here again - more than likely. This restaurant was no different then walking into a Greek Taverna in Athens except the only difference was it was in the heart of Bayswater London. The food menu was extensive and at times I felt I was spoilt by choice. The portion sizes were great and the service whilst at times was mis matched it was never the centre of attention to distract from the tasty meze plates and grilled meats. If your interested in trying some authentic Greek desert on a mid range budget this is a great find in a not so obvious location. read more

WOW! This place has the best tzatziki I've ever had! Authentic authentic authentic! Hidden gem just around the corner from my hotel in Hyde Park and a stones throw from Bayswater tube station. I highly recommend the chicken lemonoreganato entree. Very reasonably priced and I cleaned my plate. read more

A very nice place and friendly staff, perfect for a romantic dinner. The food was not great, and too expensive, compared to other places we have eaten in London. We had the skewed chicken with rice, and the rice was watery and bland and the carrots and peas in did nothing for the taste. The chicken was tasty until I came across a bit that was bloody - which of course is noting to recommend. My first time was in 2004 and since that time I used to go there every time that I'm in London. Just opposite the Bayswater's underground station exit, there is a road that intersects a small dead end street of white houses. That's Inverness Mews, that's the address of Kalamaras Taverna. But I don't want to give you directions, for that, there is a nice man dressed in a traditional greek costume stationed at the corner between Queensway and Inverness Place, every night. I went down a few steps, there is in the quaint little room, there are a dozen tables. The environment is clean and nice. The menu is typically greek, we usually choose different appetizers to share among the guests: Vegetarian dolmadàkia, Melitzána Scordati, Tzatziki, Houmoús, Saganáki and so on ... After that we usually choose a main course, personally I take a Vegetarian Moussaka (I'ma vegetarian), but my guests are always satisfied with their choices about meat or fish. We always ended with greek yogurt with honey and hazelnuts. The service is great and the owner, a greek gentleman moved to London about 50 years ago, is really nice. read more

Hit and miss. The grilled octopus appetizer was done perfectly -- but my main dish (lamb) was overcooked. Wine was great (and reasonability priced), baklava average, and service was below average. Also, I'm going to become the richest man in the world after I introduce the concept of air conditioning to the restaurants of the UK. All joking aside, it was a painfully hot day -- and even hotter inside the restaurants. I'm guessing this contributed to the less than happy demeanor of the staff. That being said, I would be happy to go back and try it again. Perhaps on a cooler day and just have the octopus and wine. read more

Charming restaurant with great food! Ate here our first night in London and we had a great time. The restaurant gets really busy so you'd want to make a reservation. We made a reservation but still ended up waiting a bit for our table. The service was good but I believe there were only 2 waitresses in the crowded restaurant, so they were always hustling. Repulsive doesn't come close to describing how i feel about this restaurant. In the duration of my dining experience I witnessed 3 sets of customers leave having discussed the appalling quality of their food with the manager, one couple was so furious they refused to pay and threatened to stand at the top of the street warding away potential customers, and I soon found out why. I was given a main course immediately after my starter, which was clearly microwaved leftovers, along with soggy potatoes and rice.
